Pros

The AMD Dashboard is my most favorite because I can see the health of our company every month.

Cons

The insurance information sometimes does not flow into AMD when we used the "check eligibility" functionality.

Very detailed and every module is designed keeping the provider need in mind and to provide powerful case management and billing functionality

Cons

However, denials codes, remarks codes when tied with the claim, duplicates as it captures all transaction/insurance responses and should tie the recent insurance response only by default.

Verifying insurance eligibility upon entering new patients, scheduling, canceling, and rescheduling appointments were made so easy to allow more time for other tasks.

Pros

I am currently seeking my degree in Healthcare Management. The assignments learning practice management software had online simulations.

Cons

A task calendar, to display in one of the corners would be beneficial.

We switched from Kareo as we needed a more customizable product that could better handle the large number of insurance carriers we interact with.

Pros

- Software has many built-in claim scrubbers, meaning more errors are caught before submission.

Cons

- Their A/R module is confusing to use and has its fair share of problems - Because their system has so many customizable features, their support team is often unfamiliar with all aspects of the software.

If you're looking for a customizable software and are willing to put in the time to setting the system up properly, AdvMD is well worth the money. Their clearinghouse connection is worth the price tag alone. If you're business minded and analytical, there's no better reporting suite than AdvMD. In the end, every piece of software you buy will have issues. Most medical billing software on the market is extremely limited and poorly designed, so be sure to have realistic expectations. AdvMD is the 4th billing software our company has used in 4 years and has performed significantly better so far.

Compared to other medical billing programs we've used, Advanced MD is the easiest system for sending electronic claims and printing paper claims. The eligibility tool is very helpful to ensure clients have active coverage.

Pros

Ease of submitting claims, the claim center is great, checking eligibility automatically is very nice.

Cons

If it could be more detailed and tag/count sessions automatically, it would be nice.

We love the fact that everything is integrated into Practice Management. We don't have to use a bunch of other programs or separate clearinghouses.

Cons

Some of the reporting features confuse our clients. It would be helpful to have more reports that are sorted by deposit date.

The advancedMD Fax is a wonderful time saver to file all records into the patient's chart. Also, the tasks are a great way to reminder yourself for an upcoming ToDo.

We the advance insight reports, I wish I could extract out our monthly volume reports not only with the appointment type but with the CPT also.

Electronic charge entry and claim edits make billing out claims a breeze.

Cons

I can group it by financial class if I just want to look at Medicare or Workers Comp claims but I would like to be able to just look at Beacon Health, or just Tricare.

Poor customer service, and they lied about their capabilities

After signing a contract with AdvMD (to which they falsely backdated the contract 5 days) and going through the setup process, we found out that they did not have the capabilities to update the DMEPOS Medicare fee schedule like they had originally claimed. We have now not heard from them for an entire month in effort to resolve the issue, and they won't return our phone calls.

Pros

I did like the insurance billing capabilities.

Cons

It cannot automatically update the DMEPOS Medicare Fee Schedule.

We've been using AdvancedMD both the practice management side and EHR side in our practice for 3 years now in our practice in a high traffic, fast paced office.

Fairly user friendly and easy to train new employees on the system.

The ease and accuracy of sending clean claims out and the speed of getting payments in from the payers.

Pros

The training and the follow up was outstanding. The trainer was very patient and helpful taking us through each step of the process. The Support Team has been outstanding with answering those questions that come up.

Cons

This is the fourth practice management software I have used over the past 12 years and I have not had any of the issues we have encountered in the past with other systems.

Good features for front office staff, lacks ease of use for back office staff

set up and installation was easy and quick, the tutorials are great and very helpful - the main issue for us is how the copay applies to the date of service and the billing department can not post a payment to the line unless the balance is in the correct column so there's a lot of back and forth just to get a payment posted.

Pros

secondary payments post themselves when balance exactly matches, color coded schedules, most of the time the ERA's post automatically

Cons

having to switch back into an account to un-apply a copay or change the balance back to insurance when trying to post incoming payments - time consuming
