Pros

I appreciate the hearts helping guide me to chart certain tasks at a designated frequency. I can read my orders and labs easily, which is very important.
My overall experience with Cener is pleasant. I used a different EHR before Cerner, and most of the staffs at my hospital can agree that Cerner is better.
Overall a good platform that is relatively clean and easy to use once you get used to all the functionality features.

Pros

It is easy to use, once you get the appropriate training and practice. I like that is a great investigative tool to search for timelines in the past.
I really liked that it was easy to navigate and easy to find what I need for my patients. I like that you have to enter in certain information in order to move forward.
I have worked with several different electronic medical record resources through my educational career, but this one champions all the rest. It has an excellent, user friendly interface.

Cons

Problems that arise because of difficulty to navigate certain areas; users are unaware and unable to utilize full capacity of software.
Amazingly poor UX/UI layout, and often confusing. The customer services has been all along a nightmare.
I really have too many bad things to say about the software system, it has always been there for me when I need it, I have yet to run into any problems when finding records.

Cons

Perhaps that is a limitation set up by my provider but that's annoying that I can't message a doctor from several years ago.
It was always a inconvenient time but I think that was the IT department's choice, not the actual software's choice; for this review anyways.
Steep learning curve, and i'm not even sure if that's something that can be fixed. People that have had other systems and are older struggle sometimes.

Cerner as EMR

Reviewed 3 years ago

Overall, it is a pretty intuitive EMR. It was easy to adapt to. It covers all the important aspects an EMR should have.

Pros

I like the note templates it provides, and that it allows you to create your own personal templates and smart phrases. The medication reconciliation feature is also helpful especially for admissions.

Cons

I wish some features were easier to use including patient assessments and I's and O's.

By far, the best EMR I’ve ever used

Loved it and will continue to use this EMR system!

Pros

I like how easy it is to navigate through the EMR. I have used tons of EMRs but this one has been my favorite.

Cons

I sometimes had issues with opening the page or it would shut down on me. Possibly, it can be because of my internet connection.

Not as user-friendly as EPIC

Reviewed 6 months ago

I prefer EPIC over Cerner.

Pros

Cerner is a good EMR program with the basic features of patient appointments, documentation, outside records, lab results, etc.

Cons

Cerner is not as user-friendly as EPIC's EMR. It takes about a month of daily use to get the hang of where different files and information are located in the patient chart. I wish its search feature could search more in-depth within the patient chart like EPIC does.

Simple but click intensive

Pros

Simple enough to use. This program changed my job tremendously. By far the simplest EMR system I've used in my career.

Cons

The program is very click intensive. It generally takes 3 or 4 extra clicks to accomplish simple tasks. Such as, open one box, click to open another box within the first box, then open a charging option, then chart, click to save and then refresh to score the data in patients chart.

Getting Used To

Reviewed 3 years ago
Pros

I recently started a new job that uses PowerChart. I had previously used EpicCare. There is definitely some getting used to, so take my review with a grain of salt. Like every new thing, there is some mental shifting from what one is used to to a new thing. This is easy to use. My coworkers seem to like this software. It is straight and to the point.

Cons

I really liked how customizable and attractive Epic was. I would appreciate if this software had more colorful themes and was more customizable to me. I have to look at this for 12+ hours a day, so appearance is a big thing for me.

Lacking accessibility and functionality

Reviewed 3 years ago

PowerChart enables us to communicate across facilities and disciplines for patient care. Lab results, visit summaries, H&Ps, nursing notes, and other disciplines' involvement is all present at our fingertips. However, having worked with another EMR product, I feel this product is lacking in many areas. More innovation could be done to make navigation simpler and the layout more viewer-friendly.

Pros

Much better than paper charting; ability for interdisciplinary communication

Cons

Not as user-friendly or functional as other EMR products out there. Chart reviews take much longer and documentation feels so dependent on flowsheets that it's difficult to find important information or to communicate effectively.

Pros

This EMR is easy to use and easy to find things on. I would say that the system is not overly complicated when it comes to inputting and saving information. I have not had any system shutdowns or pauses while using it either.

Cons

Orders aren't labeled with different indications for medications as it is on Epic (from what I have heard). It would make orders easier and also help with less errors.

Cerner PowerChart Review

Reviewed 4 years ago

Overal Cerner PowerChart satisfies electronic medical record needs well with a few areas of improvement. I am not involved with EMR purchasing decisions but from what I understand, Cerner PowerChart is a good product for the money.

Pros

Cerner PowerChart provides a comprehensive location for all medical information. Information display can be customized to fit user needs and provides quick access to pertinent info with continued use. Home screens are customized for each particular practitioners credentials and needs making many commonly used tasks always right at hand. Accessing information from other visits is also easily performed regardless of which encounter the patient was initially pulled up. One of my favorites is the results callback functionality that allows easy review of discharged patients culture results.

Cons

While Cerner is not difficulty to use, not all features are entirely intuitive. Many functions require repeated use and lots of clicking to access and perform relatively simple tasks. While there is a quick link for Meds Manager access for pharmacists, the link does not pull up the current patient profile opened, necessitating re-entering of the patient encounter number which is a bit tedious. Additionally, the disjunction between FirstNet and PowerChart is inconvenient and would be nice if charts opened through FirstNet opened PowerChart rather than a separate entity of FirstNet given the difference in functionality between the two programs.

Pros

I have used many ehr systems like epic, nex gen and cerner. Like all emr system it’s pretty user friendly, less clicking than EPIC. In terms of searching records within cerner you are able to search keywords and identify all the documents related to the key word which is really nice. Patient registration etc, is comparable to epic.

Cons

I have a bias towards epic, in terms of features and information exchange. However Cerner is just as good and has a few features that make it an exceptional ehr system.

Tough to use for physical therapists

Reviewed 2 years ago

The software is an electronic medical record software that leaves a little bit to be desired especially compared to some of the other EMR choices out there. It is clunky, and a bit disconnected especially between departments which leaves communication gaps which can be dangerous in the hospital situation.

Pros

I understand where everything is located, and the multi-patient task list makes things easy to find in the course of my day.

Cons

I find that this software is not oriented towards the physical therapist, and it is very tough to integrate information between departments in the hospital. I do not like that my patients will "fall off" My list if they are off the unit or floor, which makes it very easy to miss people. I do not like that you can't see the orders for the patient right away and you need to click on each chart to get more detail which makes it cumbersome to schedule. I wish that you were able to use smart phrases similarly to Epic In order to make documenting more efficient. I also dislike the amount of clicks and grids that a physical therapy note requires. It takes a lot of time to document.

365 Medical EMR

Reviewed 6 years ago

Must customizable EMR solution I've had the pleasure of working with. Customer support is just a phone call away and they always answer in 5min or less. Powercharts allows providers to customize macros and auto text in order to streamline their daily workflows. Solutions also provides voice recognition and is compatible with Microsoft and Apple computer. Front desk Sheduling system allows offices to configure call protocols, auto verifies insurances and makes registration paperless. System does seem overwhelming at first, but like everything else if the user is willing to learn and puts their part in customizing their favorites the system simplifies their workday.

Pros

Very customizable to any practice specialty.

Cons

When there are parts of the software that can be improved an enhancement needs to be submitted. These enhancements take a long time to take effect.

Cerner Powerchart Review

Reviewed 4 years ago

Overall experience was good. I was initially trained on Cerner Powerchart. There are better EMR systems out there as far as flow, successful add-ons, and auto saving features. However, I must say that the ease of charting on systems and pages within the original body of Powerchart software flows very well. I love the short cuts that I am able to use so that my charting time is much faster than veterans using the system. The customization of pages for each department makes it very friendly for the user. And best of all that customized organization you are used to having follows you in case you float to another unit.

Pros

The Pro's about this software include that it can be customized to make changes throughout every department within the hospital system that uses it. This makes the software versatile. I have seldom had a tired day without running through the routine of charting on patients but Cerner allows for the quick access lists of options in my charting that can be expanded when I need it to jog my memory for...

Cons

There is not a built in auto save feature in the charting. The ability to alter charting during my shift is important but there should be a time limit or window within which change to the charting can be counted as initial documentation. If you currently save every so often to ensure your work is not lost and realize information documented was inaccurate then there is a flag on whatever information...

Resources are not available easily. You need to be associated with a organization using it in order to get it’s materials.

EpicCare EMR

A drop in the bucket that is EMR industry

Reviewed 5 years ago

There are healthcare systems and facilities that are more focused on a passive healthcare approach and I know one specifically I have worked with in Virginia that has actually created from scratch their own EMR system (using their on staff software engineers) that focuses more on the patient as opposed to the turnover.

Pros

This software is easier to use than many of the main stream EMR/EHR systems. Templates are useful and simple to set up.

Cons

I feel that most EMR or EHR systems are geared towards patient turnover and while a lot of FQHC facilities may focus on patient turnover for revanue indicators. Epic could stand to benefit from marketing software to facilities that don't focus on patient turnover.

Could be better

Reviewed 5 years ago
Pros

Very comprehensive EHR with multiple ways to view information. Allows for significant levels of customization and "permissions" for users of all different areas using the system.

Cons

LOTS of clicks to get to where you want and see what you want. The ways to view images and labs are very cumbersome.

EpicCare EMR

A robust, non-intuitive system that requires a big learning curve

Reviewed 4 years ago

It would be nice if EPIC had more simplified workflows and cleaned up the appearance of the screens. It would also be nice if EPIC could allow the user to customize the screen appearanc (currently, there is a feature that allows only very limited customization of the screen layout.

Pros

Depending on the features that are activated, it can be a robust EHR system. It can handle workflows of many types, including outpatient visits, procedures, and hospital workflows.

Cons

It can be difficult to use, even with many years of experience using it. The screen is way too busy with buttons, tabs, active links and data all over the place. There are too many hidden features to remember, and the workflow is often very clunky, requiring multiple mouse clicks and jumps to multiple screens (with delays between loaded screens). The screen includes a multitude of features and buttons/tabs that I never use (are to be used by other disciplines such as discharge planners), making it seem like a one-size-fits-all screen.

EpicCare EMR

Industry Leader

Reviewed 3 years ago

I have used Epic for years and I would not prefer to use another EHR. Though there are some cumbersome elements to the software, it is by far the most powerful and robust system out there.

Pros

Epic has a plethora of reports and dashboards that are invaluable for tracking quality and key performance metrics.

Cons

For a number of functions, Epic has multiple ways for users to complete a particular task. This can be confusing from a training and operations perspective (e.g. "I was told to do it differently," "My provider prefers it a different way").

Epic is good!

Reviewed 3 years ago

What our practice is solving with Epic is the hunt for medical records and patient information. The switch has made it so we are more efficient with our patient care.

Pros

I like the ease of use. Everything is pretty self explanatory and using the software can cut down on time spent doing any one task. In our practice, we converted to share the EHR system with a local hospital and its practices, cutting down on any type of hunt for medical records

Cons

Yes, there is more than one way to do everything, but the process in which to get from point A to point B can be frustrating and long. A lot of clicking and doing things you may have already done before. If you know how to get around it, it can be easy, but those who struggle with technology might not find it as easy.

The Title Says It All: EPIC

Reviewed 4 years ago

I love the layout, the cost is astronomical, but the payoff for simplicity is even higher!

Pros

The EHR system Epic is not only one of the most diverse, but also among the most comprehensive EMR systems I've worked with to date. As an analyst, I help to build this system to custom fit for my health network, which is very easy, and made easier by the support we get from the Epic system itself!

Cons

Price point is always a touchy subject with Epic. You really need to be able to afford it while getting the accommodations to meets your systems' requirements. The biggest con is that Epic relies on you going to their standard format, meaning less customization.
