Pros

The software is user friendly so that help's me as an Owner to train new staff on billing. I also love the "unpaid insurance claim" report that helps my employees to work the Account's Receivable's.
With a few tweaks to the system (I'd love to help!), coupled with its extreme ease of use and excellent reliability, Kareo EHR could become a powerhouse in the rapidly growing urgent care market.
The best product I have every used and when I need help the service is excellent.

Pros

The support team have always been courteous and professional. I am happy that AdvancedMD was chosen and it has proven to be a wonderful system for both practice management and EHR.
AdvancedMD has been a pleasure to work with, from the user friendly system to the great staff helping. It is a quick way to bill daily, and get your return cash/checks back in a timely manner.
It was a good product, easy to use and I wish we would have had a chance to use it for more than just PM/billing. Several colleagues have in their offices and like it.

Cons

This is a truly terrible billing software with poor customer service. I strongly advise talking with your billers before going down this road.
They will leave you on the phone for 25-40 minutes before getting you some body who will brush you off. You have to figure your problems by yourself or suck it up.
Kareo knew about the problem, saw what was happening and could not fix it. It was yet another Kareo glitch due to the badly executed and buggy software.

Cons

We hardly received any training and due to that have really struggled with using the software and wasted a lot of time.
Some of the errors the claim checker finds do not seem tailored to ophthalmology (my field). Not a very intuitive interface and lots of features are hard to find.
Worked with AdvancedMD at my last job and it was probably one of the worst programs I've worked on.

Customer service was great. A bit cumbersome of a system as are most systems as they try to cram in as many features as they can. Easy to use, gets the job done and automates some features saving time and money.

Pros

Kareo offers an array of services-clinical chart notes, billing, engaging with patients, statement generation, patient payments, Analytics and products for billing services and more. A one stop shop

Cons

Kareo offers managed billing services as well as services to billing companies. I think this is conflict of interest and a poor business model. It is hard to do many things well. Still to software development and refer out to US billing services.

I have had to use other EHR, PM systems like AdvancedMD and Onco billing and Kareo is by far much more simple and easy to use and functtionality, and the cost is way less for a better system that everyone in the office can use efficiently and effectively.

Pros

Kareo is one of the first EHR and practice management system that is easy and simplified to learn for anyone no matter your computer experience. The cost for the EHR and PM is definitely much cheaper than most other systems out there! I learned a lot of the billing operations by watching their interactive webinars that is also simplified for easy learning!

Cons

The least I like about Kareo is probably the process of doing an adjustment or any changes once an account has money posted to it, I had to contact customer service to get assistance.

I would highly recommend Kareo. It is user-friendly, convenient since it is web-based, and it is efficient. I will never look for another billing service or billing software again.

Pros

My practice's cash flow has improved by 90%! Kareo is extremely user-friendly for someone like me who had no previous billing experience.My cash flow has improved by 90%. We're now receiving insurance payments within two to three weeks and there have been almost no rejected claims that have been outstanding for more than one month. The support staff and the training videos are extremely helpful when implementing your practice information into the software. I can do the practice's billing from any location since it is web-based. It has given me the control I needed with respect to getting payments as quickly as possible from the insurance companies.

Cons

The only negative side is that for larger practices with more than five providers that you are billing under, it becomes costly to pay the monthly pricing per provider. It would be good if Kareo could implement a monthly price for practices or billing services that have five or more billing providers.

Not a good fit for mental health practice

The forms aren't designed for mental health needs unless perhaps for psychiatry. Completing notes on the format was awkward.

Pros

I liked being able to create a claim on Kareo Clinical and submit it to Kareo Billing seamlessly, where I would review and approve it and submit the claim for payment. This worked the first few months until the two programs stopped communicating without my awareness. The program does a good job sending reminders to clients of scheduled appointments.

Cons

The program apparently stopped sending claims to Kareo Billing without my awareness for several months. After making multiple futile attempts for help through Customer Service, nearly 600 claims appeared in Kareo Billing on a single day in May, including every claim for services since the first week of February. I could not get paid for services completed in January, February or March under many insurance plans.

Although the set up was professional. The product does not perform to substantiate the monthly expense. It has imposed an un necessary financial hardship. Additionally, the billing department has attempted to hit up my credit card for un authorized charges.

Cons

I have not tried the medical records, or additional services due to cost. I have no complaints about what I use. It did not increase in cost last year, but it did increase by 5% every years from 2013 to 2019. If I didn't have an office manager I would consider the additional services such as appointment notices, medical records. Kareo is more adaptable to a medical practice than mine.

Started small with just the billing platform and have expanded to billing support, EHR, and marketing. The EHR and billing work seamlessly and accounts can be viewed in EHR. Pt reminders are via phone, text and email. Most insurance verification can be done on the platform. Labs and other ancillary services can download results into the EHR.

Pros

It's the total package. You can purchase as much support or as little as you feel you need. Marketing made a big difference for us. The pt reminders have made a huge difference also.

Cons

Sometimes your team gets changed and there is a getting to know you stage.

We selected Kareo because it has both our front office and EHR requirements, plus we have access to backup billing services if we ever find that they are needed.

Pros

Our favorite features were the ease of getting up and running, the training modules and strat up support as well as the low entry price - we could be up and functioning virtually paper-free on Day 1 of the new clinic.

Cons

Had a glitch with our Railroad MC approval through the electronic claims assistance department, but overall the systems and the technical support have been nearly faultless over our three years.

Electronic billing.

Pros

Automated text message reminders sent to patients when they work are helpful. The software automatically posts good reviews to multiple websites.

Cons

Separate EHR and billing programs. Nowhere on an eval or POC for a physician to sign and date, ( have to hand draw a line, looks unprofessional). Need to enter a patient's referring physician every time on the billing sheet, it doesn't automatically transfer from the demographic data. Manually have to fill in an authorization on to the billing sheet from the billing program (requires remembering which patients have limited visits or dates) for every encounter. Customer services takes weeks to correct a problem. One issue with a template took 6 months!!

Terrible Software. Your practice will lose money

Very disappointed. I don’t know what issues they are having but too frequent problems accessing a software that I may a lot of money for. If you can’t access it then you are not getting what you pay for and it cost you money in the long run

Pros

I like that it’s link to the billing software which makes it easier for billing

Cons

Software frequently crashes, sometimes all day which means you have no access to patient information, cannot check in patients or collect co-pays. Basically you end up rescheduling patients which results in hours of lost work time and staff unable to work. We’ve lost thousands of dollars in revenue because of this faulty, nonfunctional and unreliable Kareo software. And don’t bother trying to call customer support because you will not be able to reach anyone live. You’ll hear the same prerecorded message saying “we are aware of the problem.” There are better and less expensive softwares out there for your practice. Do your due diligence and think twice about investing in Kareo

Avoid the billing software!!!

Because I am a specialist, they do no have a way to track MIPS for rheumatology - as a result, I have to lose out on that revenue. Ridiculous! I would change to a different system, but I have been using this for nearly 13 years - prior to MIPS

Difficult Medical Billing Software

A client of ours utilized this software for their billing and when we came in to do an audit and to work out the accounts receivables from the software it was difficult to extract the data that we needed. The customer services folks were not very helpful.

Pros

The software is used in a lot of different health care practices and some of the end users seemed to like it but they didn't have other programs to compare it to due to lack of experience.

Cons

This software was difficult to navigate compared to other similar software programs. Trying to get standard reports was a challenge. I found the process of resubmitting claims or trying to track the history of the claim to be cumbersome.

Cons

customer support electronic prescription customer support hours knowledge of the staff in customer support long waits to contact customer support most of the time answer is our technical team is working on it no return calls
