Pros

The software is user friendly so that help's me as an Owner to train new staff on billing. I also love the "unpaid insurance claim" report that helps my employees to work the Account's Receivable's.
With a few tweaks to the system (I'd love to help!), coupled with its extreme ease of use and excellent reliability, Kareo EHR could become a powerhouse in the rapidly growing urgent care market.
The best product I have every used and when I need help the service is excellent.

Pros

I'm thrilled with all aspects of it and have been recommending it to every colleague who asks me which EMR to try. Fantastic product, great customer service.
My staff and I are extremely happy that we ended up with Elationhealth. Everyone loves Amazon as the website is very robust and user friendly.
Nevertheless, it is a powerful system and a joy to use. I highly recommend Elation EMR for a small to medium sized practice looking for an easy-to-learn, easy-to-use system.

Cons

This is a truly terrible billing software with poor customer service. I strongly advise talking with your billers before going down this road.
They will leave you on the phone for 25-40 minutes before getting you some body who will brush you off. You have to figure your problems by yourself or suck it up.
Kareo knew about the problem, saw what was happening and could not fix it. It was yet another Kareo glitch due to the badly executed and buggy software.

Cons

Unhappy only with mostly provider service when ongoing issues and cannot speak to live person. And lack of follow through on options such as online booking they had explicitly stated upon signing up.
The thing about it is that I am also a programmer. I work on web design, UI/UX, and frankly the UX sucks.
I have been trying to deal with this problem since early May and it is now July 13. Incredibly frustrating and I would not recommend this product to other physicians.

Very positive. This is the best EHR I have used out of 7 for Psychiatry /mental health. Our medical [sensitive content hidden] purchased Elation for our practice. The staff insisted Tebra be brought back because we like it so much.

Pros

SALT notes that let you view your results and interactions from previous visit. The DSM codes prepopulate into your billing. Sign takes fewer maneuvers. Too many clicks to get in the chart is annoying: Tebra avoids that.

Cons

Responsiveness regarding medication templates. This is so sensitive because we need the dosages and new medications available. No one wants a medication error

the program seemed to have great reports about income, revenue, A/R, etc.. however not the best for scheduling and managing the practice It was difficult to see clearly what had been done, what needed to be done and what payments were missing; it was difficult to tailor to my practice, since the way private practice runs, you never get the full payment; but I would still need to know what wasn't paid by insurances in a clearer manner

Since the merger you failed the customer

I own a small private practice with 2400 patients. I started out with kareo in 2020. For the most part the system was fine. Now since the merger to Tebra I am having a tremendous amount of difficulty getting through to people and a straight answer to open tickets. I ask direct questions on certain matters. I do not get an email back until days later if ever at all. When I do get an answer by email it's a boiler plate with acronyms in text. How do I know what your acronyms mean? The patient portal doesn't work, I have 2 providers unable to send narcotics, and the system is down at least twice a week. these are the tickets that are not resolved 02594906,04485694 02744350.0274902402758921 0259490

An unfortunate let down

An electronic health record system that works but even in itself has too many shortcomings for taste.

Pros

This software provides beatiful EHR templates for charting. You can also create your own specified templates but the pre-made ones suffice. Along with that the scheduling in the EHR is easy to use and you can create a patient if they aren't in the database and you need to schedule a new patient.

Cons

Customer service is one of the worst providing customer service I have experienced. Dedicated members of managed billing, enrollments, and marketing don't even communicate efficiently. They also have you do their job at times when they have the resources at hand to figure things out yourself. You'll spend more time trying to get the certified medical biller and coder to do their job than taking care of patients.

It was initially good but over the past couple of years has been terrible. As a mental health provider there have been no features added that helped us at all. The template system is worthless.

Pros

Initially, the Kareo team seemed to understand the needs of a mental health practice from a business and functional standpoint.

Cons

The customer service has to be the worst in the industry. Their method of deactivating a provider is absurdly laborious and lengthy. I've spent as long as 2 hours on the phone with them just to deactivate a provider.

Not a good fit for mental health practice

The forms aren't designed for mental health needs unless perhaps for psychiatry. Completing notes on the format was awkward.

Pros

I liked being able to create a claim on Kareo Clinical and submit it to Kareo Billing seamlessly, where I would review and approve it and submit the claim for payment. This worked the first few months until the two programs stopped communicating without my awareness. The program does a good job sending reminders to clients of scheduled appointments.

Cons

The program apparently stopped sending claims to Kareo Billing without my awareness for several months. After making multiple futile attempts for help through Customer Service, nearly 600 claims appeared in Kareo Billing on a single day in May, including every claim for services since the first week of February. I could not get paid for services completed in January, February or March under many insurance plans.

I find that the cost can be prohibitive, for new therapists that we are bringing on. They don't have caseloads to offset the cost of this program at first.

Pros

I appreciate how this program is able to be personalized. It has been adapted as our needs have changed. The various staff members have different preferences on needs. It has been customizable for each person.

Cons

I have issues with not having more current terminology regarding mental health, in the dropdown boxes. I have had to add customized phrases and terms that I currently use. This has been easy, but time consuming.

Kareo has a lot of features that we've been able to customize to our specific needs, including great treatment plan templates and note formats. Never had issues with the scheduling side.

Cons

Not specific for mental health treatment--the medical components are helpful for biopsychosocial care but many of Kareo's main features in the browser side are not at all relevant to our practice and are unable to be hidden or customized.

Kareo's EHR system is relatively easy to use and quite comprehensive. While there are components that are not needed within the mental health profession, it's fairly easy to figure out what is needed.

Pros

Entering client demographics is easy and useful. Finding what you need does not take long at all, as the navigation is very user-friendly.

Cons

I do not understand why the practice clients cannot be deleted in the EHR. They are not real clients. Also, it is not set-up to be Mac-friendly, at least from my perspective. Everything works fine on a Mac, but scrolling and getting to what you need can be cumbersome at times.

Difficult Medical Billing Software

A client of ours utilized this software for their billing and when we came in to do an audit and to work out the accounts receivables from the software it was difficult to extract the data that we needed. The customer services folks were not very helpful.

Pros

The software is used in a lot of different health care practices and some of the end users seemed to like it but they didn't have other programs to compare it to due to lack of experience.

Cons

This software was difficult to navigate compared to other similar software programs. Trying to get standard reports was a challenge. I found the process of resubmitting claims or trying to track the history of the claim to be cumbersome.

Good software for all medical practices

I would recommend this software to all medical practices as this company listens to the customer and is always striving to stay ahead of health care reform (and is doing a good job at it).

Pros

This software is straightforward and logical. It has the ability to give access or restrict depending on the user which keeps better control. The webinars are in laymans terms and directs you step by step how to set up the practice. The implementation webinars explain in the same manner. This software has a great reporting section which gives you the ability to generate any report using thousands of different parameters. Being web based gives employees the freedom to work from any computer with internet service which helps to cut loss of productivity.

Cons

I did have a slight difficulty with my implementation but by calling support, it turned out I had taken down some information out of order. They were able to quickly identify the problem and help me get back on track.

We are able to utilize Kareo to best serve our general population in the mental health field. I believe Kareo does its best in seeking efficiency and does take into consideration improvements in which Ive seen over the past 2+ years of utilizing the software

my opinion, its user friendly, good su & customer service is good & response time is good. I've used a lot of software programs over time.. good support people..

Cons

Can be very laggy and definitely has software issues more than often.. unfortunately no software is perfect and anyone with general understanding will agree to that.

Easy to use and great price

I've been using Kareo for about 4 months now with my mental health practice. It is a great value given the price compared to others and is easy to use and user-friendly. I use the billing, scheduling, and marketing modules. I do not currently use the EMR module.

Pros

Price, ease of use, and ability to access the fundamental features from both PC and Apple products including tables.

Cons

Periodically appointments on my schedules will disappear after the patient has been "checked out". Also, there are problems when you switch back and forth between the PC application and the web-based functions. Lastly, customer service has not yet fixed these errors, despite me emailing and calling for months.

I own a billing company, specializing in mostly mental health practices. I have been using Kareo since 2006 and I must say that everything I have asked for, has yet to be done!!! I have talked to them on the phone at least twice since 2006, with ideas and suggestions as it pertains to the mental health field but with no results. There are alot of glitches in the system as it pertains to billing secondary...

Kareo is a very easy system to learn. It is great for keeping general notes and documents for your business. The only drawback from a mental health standpoint is there is no feature for treatment planning and they charge a substantial amount of money to create a customized note template.

Kareo has great reporting

Kareo has been an improvement from our previous software. I appreciate that the cost each month has been predictable and fair.

Pros

The reporting capabilities and customization of reporting is the most valuable feature to us. We are able to give our clients a more comprehensive view of the financial health of their practice. Contract management reports and analysis reports help us to give suggestions and analyze the data coming in so that providers and practice managers can see how claims are processing and where the money is coming from and going to.

Cons

The ERA enrollment process has been a nightmare. I feel like this process was not adequately described to us, and it has been dramatically more time consuming and labor-intensive than we thought it would be. Customer support has been inconsistent. In some circumstances, the representatives have been very helpful, but in others, they have been disconnected and unable to adequately resolve issues.

Knowledgable - Affordable - Reliable - Easy to use - On it

We implemented Kareo into 3 of our behavioral health clinics a few years ago to get rid of paper charts and improve our collection processes. Not only were those 2 goals met, we have seen an increase in patient satisfaction, provider compliance with documentation, and our clinical processes have become streamlined. Kareo has benefited not only our business, but our patients which is our top priority.

Pros

Kareo has everything any practice and/or speciality would need from an EHR / PM system. Kareo has a user-friendly scheduling platform that allows office staff to efficiently complete their duties. Our providers have had a positive experience with the clinical platform that allows them to e-prescribe, document effectively, as well as ensure compliance with CMS, MACRA, MIPS, etc. The billing platform is also easy to use, but what I like most is the reporting system. You can literally run a report for anything! Kareo rocks!

Cons

What is there not to like? Kareo is the only way to go! #teamkareo

Good marketing on their part, poor execution for my practice.

Don't purchase this service. It's not helpful, you're better off hiring someone locally to help you than hiring this place.

Pros

The website they designed is pretty nice looking and they listened to my preferences about color choices and photos.

Cons

My referrals have not increased by one single patient. I still don't show up in a Google search. The social media campaign I'm paying for isn't being led well (today they posted about flu shots-I'm a mental health provider, this won't benefit my practice), they keep switching staff on me, the services are costly and they say you can't get out of the contract. I think I was a sucker to a big MLM scam.
