Pros

I like the fact that we no longer have to have paper files, ease of use overall and some of the features like appointment reminders, the ability to create and add your own documents.
This software is richly featured. I've appreciated the ability to create very sophisticated custom online intake forms, and and the autopay enrollment for automated batch credit card billings.
I am appreciate of the customer service that is prompt with response. The software has amazing training videos that assists with new users like myself.

Pros

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE aesthetic record. I seriously couldn't have built it to what I have within a year without them.
They save me time which makes me more money. Their system is easy, robust and great customer service.
Good functionality for medspa- their foto comparison is really helpful and overall easy to use. Online booking is a nice feature for patients and charting is pretty easy.

Cons

I have struggled most with billing—getting cards to not charge for missed appointments. Reminders have occasionally caught me off guard—either they went out too many times or not enough.
This annoyed me because my time is very valuable and I specifically set aside the time for my training and no one bothered to alert me that it had been canceled.
My main complaint is that I have had trouble getting someone on the phone when I have an issue. They do tend to respond by email quickly but sometimes I would prefer a phone conversation.

Cons

Constant glitches and bad customer service. There's no phone number they require you chat for every problem, which gets very time consuming and difficult to actually get anything fixed.
The absolute worst part of this company is they do not let anyone converse through any median except texting via the program. No phone support or email.
I'd say find another program. I'm too far in at this point to cancel but I deeply regret ever signing up for this service.

I love Simple Practice so much, I've bought it twice!

I decided to try SimplePractice first as an intern and it made my life SO much easier than colleagues who were using Word for notes, Excel for tracking payments, some separate program or a paper calendar for scheduling etc. Now since graduating, I've become part of management at the organization I was an intern at and have implemented SimplePractice for the entire internship program. There have also been two separate occasions where a feature wasn't working how I anticipated or didn't exist yet and both times, SimplePractice has been able to make the changes I suggested - they take suggestions from their customers very seriously! I will never not use SimplePractice!

Pros

Ease of Use Aesthetic Customer Services Client Portal Appointment Reminders Ease of recording payments

Cons

The aesthetic look and feel of the notes and intake/practice policy forms and the lack of advanced editing/formatting tools. There has already been a lot of improvement in this area since I started with SimplePractice and I've been told more is on the way.

It is easy to use and the aesthetic is really professional. It has so many features incorporated into it especially secure communications and telehealth.

Cons

Transfer of data is not that easy but I don't think it would be with any platform.

...and I must say that the customer service has helped me slay the dragon of billing (well, more the fear of that dragon). Wished I'd done it sooner...

Cons

..is it possible to be too helpful? The number of support emails were overwhelming at first, but most have served me well once I got to them.

Electronic submission, billing, record keeping

Pros

The features are great. I love being able to have patients enter their information when they initiate treatment and I love that the billing/claims process can be streamlined.

Cons

The only difficulties I've had so far have been in figuring out the insurance enrollments because the companies I use weren't pre-programmed into the system. I reached out to customer service on a number of occasions. The instant chat worked great, someone responded right away and was very helpful. My emails were also answered in a prompt manner, however I wasn't able to talk directly to anyone. It might've been easier to trouble shoot with someone over the phone.

Pros

I like having all of my case notes and financial records in one place. Completing all paperwork on the computer has even helped me stay more current on my record-keeping.

Cons

It has been a little challenging to learn the calendar system, but I am starting to get used to it. Syncing with my google calendar caused some problems at first.

Calendar, case notes, secure emailing clients, going paperless for record keeping.

Pros

It's indeed Simple! I like there is a spell check feature, lots of templates that I can customize. I also like clicking on "reminder" and using it as my to-do list of the day!

Cons

The idea of "locking" my notes permanently and not being able to add an addendum to correct anything if I made a mistake on my note is very nerve racking!

Great software, Great Price!

easy to use, help me get rid of the pen and paper record keeping and saves me lots of time!

Pros

I love being able to schedule appointments, create invoices for clients and keep all my PHI in one place, as well as being able to use a secure portal to send information to clients. The ease of use is awesome and I also love the reminders that keep you up-to-date on everything that needs to be done with every client. It's almost like having a personal assistant to keep you on track. Its great for individuals in private practice, especially someone like me who only does it part-time.

Cons

I wish that you could use other vendors such as square reader for payments. I already had square reader set up and thought it to be too much of a hassle to try to switch over now.

Quick to learn and get started

Pretty great! I love knowing it's all Hippa compliant and it seems on par with standard note and record keeping.

Pros

I used the checklist for getting started, went through step by step, and now I'm all set. There were very few moments of "huh?" Very intuitive!

Cons

A few minor navigation speed bumps: I had a moment of frustration trying to find the customizable consent documents. They're not with the other customizable note templates, but with the client portal stuff. I would have organized some of the settings navigation differently, but not so big of a deal. I would also like it if the consents auto-entered the date signed. I can see myself forgetting to customize that every time.

SimplePractice is light years beyond the software product I've been using for many years.

It's all in one - client database, billing, record keeping, communication, insurance processing, and credit card processing are all in the product.

Pros

The client portal is a great feature. Another is the calendar that allows clients to book their own sessions. Credit card processing is integrated into the system as well.

Cons

There isn't much to dislike. I'd like phone support but that would drive the cost up. Setting up insurance is a bit tedious in the beginning.

This system has streamlined my scheduling, billing, record keeping, reminders and communication among our team members. We could not be more thrilled!!

Pros

I reviewed and tried many, many other options. I selected Simple Practice for the ease of use, mobile app and patient portal. My other top priority was the ability to customize email and text reminders.

Cons

I wish the app and online website access and interface were the same. I wish the app allowed me to see all clinicians and their schedules, not just my own, as I am a clinician but also the administrator.

Beginners review

Simple practice takes the frustration out of record keeping. It also allows the clinician to email intial documentation via the client portal!

Pros

Simple practice allows you to schedule your clients and customize your templates. The system also sends daily reminders of your schedule.

Cons

The system is not intuitive. In the beginning, I found it difficult to navigate the systems. I tried the tutorial but, they did not provide the help I needed.

It IS so simple!

Simple Practice is a great way for me to keep my sessions organized and for record keeping. The primary reason I use it is for the Superbill function and to keep record of my sessions. I keep records elsewhere, but I use it in case I am audited or court ordered to provide records of my sessions.

It took me a while to figure out the program. Not everything about it was intuitive. It got easier when I set my functions to be personalized.

It is simple to use and if you don't have a large number of clients that you see then it works well.

Cons

None of the billing reports include all data points that is necessary for keeping track of payments and insurance reimbursements. For example, one report may have date of service and paid amount, but not the date the payment was made or for which clinician. Another report may have the date of service, client, and clinician, but not the payment amount or date it was paid. This makes it necessary to...

good basic record keeping software with billing and note keeping for mental health services.

I value the organisation and ease of charting. I prefer software based record keeping and billing. I have used multiple systems, both in mental health and in medicine. This system is easy, user friendly and simple enough so not only can I learn it fast, but others who do not prefer software driven record keeping can learn it sufficiently to use it.

Pros

I personally like the ease of moving from one section to another. This allows me to jump back and forth in a non linear manner, which is how I think. In addition I like the reminders, it helps keep me on track in a timely manner,

Cons

I am still struggling locating and editing some of the paperwork that I send to my clients, such as editing system generated intakes. This is likely part of my particular learning curve.

I feel like I have to fight through too many bells and whistles to do the basics.

Pros

Lots of good supporting videos, etc. Copy forward notes. Easily add new clients. It is well laid out. Like having an e-record.

Cons

I just want to set up appointments and write notes. Would like to send out reminders, and so far this feature doesn't work. All the billing stuff gets in my way and is annoying. I can't call a live human. Wait time for questions to be answered has been very long.

Very positive experience!

Pros

Love the electronic medical record, the ability for clients to find my business, schedule the intake & have to input a credit card to save it!

Cons

The pain of moving the data from my former EMR; although they helped streamline the process.

As a new clinician, this software has been part of my journey. A partner, a guide, and so easy!

I don't have to think so much! I don't have to guess so much! I feel supported in my practice by thinkers and therapists who have gone before me. A great thing to have!

Pros

I love that my focus of practice can be on my clients, and not around paperwork, record keeping, compliance, etc. Simple practice does the thinking for me!

Cons

I find the billing piece a bit unintuitive. I have had to sort through credits, and refunds and the platform doesn't feel easy in this realm.

SimplePractice is great!

SimplePractice has made record keeping so much simpler for my business. I was hesitant about switching over to an EMR but this program has made for a smooth transition. It's definitely worth it!

Easy to use, great features, wonderful customer service

I'm a big fan of SimplePractice. I've used five other notes programs/medical records software for my practice and this app is definitely the best. They must have a great advisory committee of therapists because it has features that I use often that I never really knew I wanted in a notes program. It's really simple and intuitive to use. Plus I like simple, modern aesthetic of the app. It's finally not a headache to sit down a complete notes for clients.
