Pros

I like the fact that we no longer have to have paper files, ease of use overall and some of the features like appointment reminders, the ability to create and add your own documents.
This software is richly featured. I've appreciated the ability to create very sophisticated custom online intake forms, and and the autopay enrollment for automated batch credit card billings.
I am appreciate of the customer service that is prompt with response. The software has amazing training videos that assists with new users like myself.

Pros

The owners are great people that are reachable and the customer support is excellent. I used them prior to selling my previous practice and when I opened another one have continued to use them.
Its been great, i wont change and like how they are proactive.
Always support available who are very courteous and helpful.

Cons

I have struggled most with billing—getting cards to not charge for missed appointments. Reminders have occasionally caught me off guard—either they went out too many times or not enough.
This annoyed me because my time is very valuable and I specifically set aside the time for my training and no one bothered to alert me that it had been canceled.
My main complaint is that I have had trouble getting someone on the phone when I have an issue. They do tend to respond by email quickly but sometimes I would prefer a phone conversation.

Cons

There are only little things that pop up that are frustrating to our therapists - like the inability to copy and paste.
The ACI is buggy and when it acts up, it really slows me down and makes my clinic look incompetent to the patient.
This software was difficult to teach to new employees.

Comprehensive and user friendly system

Overall, SimplePractice has helped me streamline my practice, integrate billing, and use telehealth options.

Pros

Out of all of the private practice systems I tried out via their free trials, SimplePractice was the most comprehensive and user-friendly​. The customizable templates and the scheduling system standout in comparison to other systems.

Cons

This is a minimal compliant, but I wish all of the paperwork (informed consent, intake paperwork, etc) were all in the tab/page. It took me a long time to find the informed consent paperwork to edit and customize.

Simple Practice

Simple Practice has been great helping me start my own practice as a marriage and family therapist! I love that everything is in one place and that it is also easy for clients to use.

Pros

It is very easy to use and the support systems are helpful. I also like the client portal so I can minimize paperwork.

Cons

I would like more options to customize paperwork and other documents. I like that there are a lot of templates but I would also like to use my own stuff.

Beginners review

Simple practice takes the frustration out of record keeping. It also allows the clinician to email intial documentation via the client portal!

Pros

Simple practice allows you to schedule your clients and customize your templates. The system also sends daily reminders of your schedule.

Cons

The system is not intuitive. In the beginning, I found it difficult to navigate the systems. I tried the tutorial but, they did not provide the help I needed.

My overall experience has been wonderful! After doing much research and using several other EHR systems- I’ve found this system to be one of the easiest to navigate and address my needs.

Pros

This software is easy, it’s helpful and it reduces the need to duplicate information. I absolutely love the daily schedule reminders- I get them when I first wake up.

The more I use it the more I like it.

I just started using this system a few weeks ago. I am pretty happy with it. The more I use it the more I like it. I keep discovering new things I can do with it and feel comfortable using it for more and more things.

Pros

Its user friendly. Also the developers really listen to feedback. It is a good affordable system for someone in a solo practice. It also seems like a good system should I start growing and taking on associates.

Cons

There does seem to be a learning curve. I also have not been able to figure out how to import client data from other systems. There are videos to train you, however I wish we could just get printed instructions.

Ease of use, time saving, scheduling, and a portal all in one.

Pros

I work both in private practice and at an agency, so over time I've had experience using many different EHRs. I was completely shocked how easy SP was to use, and mystified why other EHR systems are not as wonderful as Simple Practice.

Cons

Nothing so far. It was a little difficult to figure out how to link my Stripe account, but that's about it.

Pros

The integration of a calendar, billing, and notes just makes my day to day work move along much easier. While it takes a bit of time to get going once you do things are much easier than other systems I have used.

Cons

There are a few limitations when it comes to the integration of digital signatures. For example, you can not have forms that are signed by multiple people, i.e. two parents if you are working with a minor.

A little wonky but gold standard

I have really enjoyed storing cards and getting payments, booking, forms, and note-taking. It solves the problem of needing to lug files around with me or having several operating systems to work from. Everything is right there for me.

Pros

Everything I need for my small private practice in terms of booking, notes, and accepting credit card payments is here.

Cons

It’s a little unnecessarily complicated to use. For instance, I find myself getting lost in the system trying to update forms and finding information once I have updated. It’s how the system is organized that is taking time getting used to, and I think it could be done simpler.

Choosing a charting system

Overall, I looked at several systems and chose Simple Practice because like the name, it is pretty simple to use. I like the program even though I am frustrated getting started due to the lack of available human to human support.

Pros

What I like most is the look and easyness of the charting system. Much of it is intuitive and there are several prompts to keep you on track. There are also templates which are very helpful for developing forms.

Cons

The most difficult barrier to smooth use of the system is the lack of available customer service. The system for reaching out with questions is clunky and you are sent back to read more information. It can be very overwhelming beginning a new program and I hope Simple Practice adds phone and chat support that is available 8am-6pm, M-F.

Awesome tool for running a private practice!

This saves me so much time! I feel way more confident in the security of my client notes and my client information.

Pros

This system is very easy to use! It makes tracking my clients and writing notes incredibly easy. I thought about using some of the other systems, but after many other users singing the praises of SimplePractice, I went for it and I'm so glad I did!

Cons

The lack of true customization on documents is tough. You are able to bold and italicize documents, but this feature does feel a little rudimentary.

Highly Recommend

See above. I love that Simple Practice's EMR allows me to run all aspects of my practice in an integrated and seamless way. It's a dream! I've experienced the challenges and pitfalls of using different systems for various aspects of mental health businesses.

Pros

This EMR stands out from several other EMR platforms I have used in the past by being extremely intuitive, easy to use, and comprehensive. The calendar integration is at the heart of SimplePractice's EMR. It ties together the most important aspects of managing a private practice: Scheduling, billing, and record keeping. I love using Stripe and the video add-ons as well. The video platform stands out from other HIPAA-compliant video platforms in its ease of use and quality of image. I am extremely happy to have all of these services at my fingertips (literally). The complimentary coaching call was extremely helpful in getting me oriented to using this EMR more efficiently.

Cons

I just completed my 30-day free trial and I haven't discovered anything I don't like.

Private Speech Teletherapy

Simple Practice was the choice we went with for beginning our speech-language therapy telepractice. It has helped us solve many of the issues we would've needed other systems for, and we plan to use it to scale our business for quite some time.

Pros

So far in my brief use of Simple Practice, what I like the most is the built-in templates that are easily customizable for intake forms, notes, privacy/security forms, etc. The features that track Insights, Reminders, Activity, Billing, and Clients are also nice, handy, and easy to use.

Cons

The scheduling feature overall is all is functional and pretty good - just feels a little clunky at times.

One of the better EHR systems

Overall a great program that covers all the bases, and whose potential could someday rule the market.

Pros

Aside from the fact that it’s UX is sleek and current, what I like most is the overall functionality of the program, and how it far succeeds most of the electronic health record systems out there. Although far from perfect, this is probably the closest we get to it though.

Cons

The client portal leaves much to be desired, especially if you’re representing a practice with high end clientele. If the software were able to allow for customization outside of color scheme, then we could finely tune even the smallest of details.

Perfect Fit

SimplePractice has cut the amount of time I spend on creating and filling out documentation in half, giving me more time to focus on direct client services.

Pros

I have been shopping around for some time for an EHR system that fits my practice - online and in-person counseling for expatriates living in Asia Pacific - and simple practice is it. There are two features that stand out to me - telehealth video conferencing and customizable documents. Both have streamlined my practice.

Cons

Like with all EHR systems, there are some features that are either missing or not yet fully developed. I would like to see the ability to share document templates with other practitioners (not photos but the actual templates for use), as well as the ability to give clients total access to their documentation (open notes).

My favorite aspect of Simple Practice is that everything is in one system. Previously I had multiple systems, one for video appointments, one for scheduling/note-taking, one for bookkeeping, etc. With Simple Practice it's all in one place which has streamlined my practice in a way that offers clarity and is cost effective.

So far, no concerns. At times I have some confusion with navigating as it is a new system for me, but the helping tools/tutorials and customer support are available and helpful if I can't resolve it on my own.

Great Start to My StartUp

I love SimplePractice. It functioned as my assistant, my record keeping, my files, and administration. It allows me to try different organization systems for my clients and practice. It helped me focus on the work because it was EASY. There are constant updates to stay current. My client loves it!

Pros

I really loved that the software was user-friendly. I like that the software has an app function. The videos were very useful and the tutorials were easy to follow. I like that the forms were LGBTQ+ competent. My client found it easy to use. I love the reminders for both the client and myself. It is compatible with TherapyDen. Payment was simple.

Cons

There were a few buggy things at times but nothing significant.

It gets pretty costly

Overall my experience with Simple Practice is positive, its just getting too expensive.

Pros

I like the fact that we no longer have to have paper files, ease of use overall and some of the features like appointment reminders, the ability to create and add your own documents. I also like the different templates already contained in the system. I have tried 3 other systems and will admit Simple Practice is my favorite.

Cons

Unfortunately it looks like i'm going to have to switch systems because it is just getting to costly. There appears to be no cap on price. My practice is growing and so is my bill with Simple practice. I don't like that I have to pay for administrators and interns. There are no hands on tutorial options only videos. I also would like the Wiley feature to be more user friendly and make better use of this resource. It is somewhat confusing as it is currently.

Comprehensive!

Pros

I have used other EHR systems, and think SP is the absolute best! I love how comprehensive the system is, the fact that it includes a client portal and customizable consent documents AND the fact that I get morning and evening emails that remind me of upcoming appointments/ provide me with a daily summary. Simple Practice is top notch!

Cons

The only thing I don't love is that I can't customize the note templates (I would like to use GIRP notes). I would like to be able to use the standard progress note in accordance with the tx plan, but it only allows me to document progress for 2 objectives.

Goodbye paper charts!

Overall, I've had a great experience.

Pros

I found the paperless consent forms to be a huge time and space saver, and I also appreciated the templates available, including the standard intake questionnaire. I look forward to using the online charting system for writing my notes. Of all the systems out there, this one seems to be the best value for your money.

Cons

I found the insurance section to be confusing and difficult to use.

Pros

I signed up for the free trial, as I am new to EHR systems. Simple Practice made it easy for me to learn how to use an EHR. I really like that I can use my own forms, send/sign them electronically, and keep things paperless. Everything is streamlined for an efficiently running a private practice.

Cons

I haven't found anything I don't like at this point. I think Simple Practice has taken a lot of feedback given by others into consideration when updating this system and am happy to see it continues to evolve.
