Pros

The trainer was also fantastic. This is geared towards mental health and they do an amazing job with every mental health inventory imaginable.
I have been using Valant software for over a year now and it is has saved me a large amount of time with the awesome reporting features that come with the software.
I like that I learned how to navigate around certain functions and once I learned that I could apply that to all other aspects of running through the EMR. The clinical summary of the note is great.

Pros

I am a loyal customer as a software system is only as good as the people that support it. It is worthy every penny.
I like the ability to run reports, templates, ease of use, and most of all the support. Customer rep has been helpful and encouraging the whole time even when I am not able to understand.
Has EXCELLENT customer support, which is essential for a solo practioner with limited computer skills; they are friendly, patient, and helpful to resolve issues.

Cons

Customer service is severely lacking, especially their accounting department, who will never answer the phone or call you back if you need to dispute a charge.
Horrific customer service and dishonest leadership team.
From a provider perspective, trying to document has been a nightmare in the new platform too. This software isn't 2015 certified either which has resulted in problems with one of our payers.

Cons

This has been a horrible experience. I am now using simple practice with no billing issues.
Hard to read: font too small and faint and in odd places. Have not been paid a penny from all that I have input and sent electronically.
The majority of the time nobody does get back to me, which brings me to the next problem I have.

They have serious issues with regard to patient safety. Cannot run a simple report to track active patients with no appointment on file. They charge per page to fax and cannot be too many pages or it crashes. They use Microsoft Silverlight, therefore, not customizable!!! I can go on and on!

Pros

It is accessible online.

Cons

Not customizable!!!! Patient safety is an issue. Expensive, yes, they do have customer service but their favorite words are, "no we can't do that. Don't you understand that there are millions of lines of programming that can't be changed".

Take the good with the bad

There are many things I like about Valant, such as the overall look and navigation. However, after having used it for 5 years, I have found some chronic problems. The most impactful issue is that sometimes our appointments "undo" themselves. Either they were entered in and then disappear or they are deleted and reappear. I assume this is related to the syncing from our computers back to their servers....

I found training "on-line" very difficult. I think I would have been much happier and gotten off to a better start had I trained in person at a near by clinic that uses Valant already. Very happy with the help available on line, however.

Pros

Mental health specific, many features, ease of using online help and great customer service/response time

Cons

Report options do not include what I need to create payroll for my therapists, our practice does not use any of the features except billing - which is unfortunate as I would have been happier to use the scheduler and some other features

Great Beginner EHR

Valant allowed out clients to receive appointment reminders which we did not have previously. Navigating the different tabs back and forth was very convenient when multitasking.

Pros

I love the ease of scheduling along with the color coding options to make the schedule visually appealing. Valant was the first EHR that our office used and it was a great starting platform to learn and adapt to.

Cons

Unfortuatly Valant's support was not the easiest to get in contact with/hear back from when there was an issue that the online help page could not answer.

A godsend to our practice.

Despite the fact that my partners and myself are not easy to please, all of us rave over Valant and their professional and thoughtful staff. Even our IT support staff, prone to loose work to Valant with its IT-included services, could only encourage us to move forward into the "future of health care." And most importantly of all, even though the EMR reason may not be so obvious to them, our patients can also recognize that somethimg is changing for the better in their care.

Pros

After briefly trying another EMR program, our liability insurer recommended that we consider using Valant EMR. Beginning with the 1:1 online training, I knew I had found the group of professionals who could consistently provide the same quality of personalized service to me that I strive to give to all of my patients.

Cons

Valant is a product in evolution. Knowing what is around the corner makes it hard to wait to put the technology to work.

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE

We have had problems with getting any customer service and help with technical issues. They have told us for at least 2 years that an upgrade was coming to the system so we did not change after the first year because we were holding out, but now it has been too long and we are seeking a new provider.

Pros

Ease of use with scheduling and documenting

Cons

If you ever want to add a user, make changes, have questions for support they take weeks to respond and typically do not resolve your issue. We have had problems with the e-prescribe since day one (3 years ago) and it has yet to be resolved. We have also been told since day one that they were upgrading the system soon so that other features like payment online could be taken and we are still waiting on this.

The Valant software is easy to use for our administrative staff, psychologists, and psychiatrists. As a behavioral health software, it allows our practice to run smoothly and efficiently. Valant currently uses Silverlight for their software, but they are working on changing this very soon so our office won't be limited to specific web browsers.

Our Business was looking for a completely integrated system to provide the best treatment for our patients. We were given several suggestions from Software advice and one of the suggestions was VALANT. We researched several software systems and decided on Valant. Claims and eligibility are done with the clearinghouse that does all processes in real time, which will increase cash flow for the business....

Integrated system Patient Portal to send assessments prior to appointment Valant will allow you to set up the system for your particular practice. EMR templates designed specifically for behavioral health providers cost is reasonable compared to competitors real time claims and eligibility HIPPAA compliant messages sent to provider and patients

Cons

Clearinghouse is separate however it is top of the line and extremely efficient.

Making the Switch to Therasoft

My experience with Therasoft has been positive across all dimensions, from the follow-ups to questions I've raised to the support staff/onboarding team's commitment to getting their users up to speed as quickly as possible, freeing us up to serve our clients.

Pros

My former EHR vendor recently significantly raised their prices to bring them more in line with other EHR vendors. With this price increase, I had to evaluate them in relation to other vendors charging approximately the same price. While Therasoft is more expensive, the quality of their product is far superior. Specifically, I appreciate how the information within the EHR is organized and displayed on the screen. I like how the treatment plan is very accessible and informs the treatment session note. I like how my custom designed website is an integral part of my EHR. With Therasoft, everything weaves together in a dynamic way, supporting more rigorous charting process that is easier to navigate than my former EHR. Therasoft helps me to better conceptualize my cases.

Cons

Therasoft is a robust program that takes a while to learn. The learning curve is well supported by their transition team and onboarding resources. Therasoft wants you to be their customer for the long-term, and they're willing to go the extra mile with customer service and support to ensure the customer has the answers they need, when they need them.

Everything a clinician needs for practice management

Being able to run and manage my practice more efficiently.

Pros

Being able to do everything to run my practice from appointments, documentation, marketing, and billing. I have tried several other software programs prior to Therasoft Online and had to piece mill other programs to make it all work. With Therasoft I don't have to use any other program to fulfill my needs. My clients like the ability to register and schedule their own appointments for convenience. I like the ability to have online sessions for clients that cannot travel to the office. The mobile app for clinicians is very user friendly and provides more features than other softwares I have used. Whenever I have a question or problem the team is readily available and responsive.

Cons

The price is a little higher than other EHR software, however the features are worth it in the end.

It was wonderful. I was worried about creating a site and linking it to an EHR. The web developers were highly responsive and answered all questions I had. The developers along with my account manager made a stressful process much easier.

Pros

It’s easy to use and the tutorials that are online are very helpful. I appreciated that the team conducted a video and call for the setup and questions.

Cons

Initially It didn’t seem like it would be easy to navigate. After my call I had a much easier time.

Easy to process most of my payments.

Pros

Everyone I've spoken with have been courteous and knowledgeable. one od the Customer support representative in particular has been very accommodating and scheduling meetings for me to learn and get better at using the software. I really appreciate her professionalism. I declined several other EHR systems (Simple Practice, Therapynotes etc.) because they did not have support staff I could verbally speak with.

Cons

The registration process is not hard but I think in some ways could be a bit more intuitive. At times figuring out the payment processing part can be a little confusing but I think as I get more familiar with it that will change. Figuring out the online video counseling was a little more difficult than I expected. My clients had a hard time with it. Perhaps this is an area for improvement. Dealing...

This is the best EHR I have used ever. From day one with the personalized onboarding, Billing Services and real live Customer Support what else can I ask for. Best customer support I love being able to actually speak to a human. I have also been relying on the RM team for my billing and by doing so freed up so much of my own time

Nothing really I love it because it has everything I need, but if get stuck I can speak to a real live person with a real name.

Ease-of-use and convenience are the top benefits of Therasoft. Support is responsive to issues.

Pros

I decided to go with Therasoft for my private mental health practice due to the EHR having prepopulated treatment plan goals and objectives that are based on the Wiley Treatment Planner's goals and objectives. Other EHR's did not have this built into their product and I decided to go with Therasoft because I felt it would save time plus having the convenience of an all in one platform to handle my billing, payments, notes, payroll.

Cons

The server can sometimes be slow to respond.

Unfair charges for record keeping.

Software was find; the customer service was horrible. I was overcharged for their billing service and since leaving Therasoft am being charged $200.00 per year to have access to all my notes on patients.

Pros

Was happy with product; very unhappy with support.

Cons

When you leave Therasoft you cannot get a copy of your records, with a fee, of course. Instead if you want access to your files, which in my case is 7-10 years, you MUST PAY THEM $200.00 A YEAR!. No other ehr medical records hold a subscriber hostage in order to get access to files and comply with law of mandatory keeping records for 7-10 years. This is outrageous in that you are trapped into paying this ongoing fee.

I found it very lacking in financial tracking tools and generally not very intuitive to use.

When I called customer support to find out how to track patient balances in the software and was told that that wasn't a function that the software included I decided that I needed to find alternate software to do this. I also found many tasks that I had done easily in my previous practice management software to be much more difficult to do. Therasoft seems to focus on the EHR functions and is weak in the practice management and financial management areas.

The biggest pro is the excellent customer service: Consistent, honest, and excellent follow through. This is a priority for me. Customer Service Reps who follow through on agreements. Great System

I have used several types of EHR systems throughout my career and choosing TheraSoft for my private practice has been a great investment each and every month, though it is still expensive. If it weren't for the option on the A1 or "all in one" window to give you a grand client balance of what they owe somewhere on the screen (not just for the session), I'd give it a 4.5 star. so, I'm giving it a 3.75 star. I also would like the "standard" note to be able to have a subject line so that it can be named and this way quickly know what major events occurred at each particular session. If you use the claims submission option, the reconciliation that occurs sure makes my job easier. The system knows how much to write off when the ERA/EOBs are received electronically.

Tired of submitting tickets for repeat fixes needed for lost clinician signatures & client data

Overall, Therasoft does the job but with greatly anticipated trepidation by our clinicians and trainees that important client information or their signatures will be lost or inaccurate. (the tendency for biopsychosocial to keep filling in check boxes of information not entered by client or clinician). Unfortunately, our trainees like our clinical approach and training, but word has gotten out on the training circuit about our use of Therasoft, especially its nonintuitive and cumbersome documentation and tendency to lose client information. Many trainees that we had two years ago are surprised that others in their program are still running into similar problems with Therasoft.

Pros

Customizable features, initial person-to-person support around glitches, and helpful creation of forms. It was great to request having our treatment plans populate into our progress notes. A feature that was not initially there when we started with Therasoft. It was also great to be able to incorporate our measures/questionnaires into our biopsychosocial. Ability to limit the number of forms clinicians could access. Ability to incorporate intake screening and new client registration on our website. Ability to schedule and meet with client via laptop or phone.

Cons

It's many simple yet consistent glitches, it's outdated training videos, and customer service that was often limited to submitting multiple tickets for the same thing over and over again and being asked if we cleared our cache. No other EHR has mentioned needing to clear out a cache in order to work properly. Therasoft isn't a program you can leave alone and feel your workflow is flowing. It's a complex...
