Pros

Note forwarding is a very good feature and and medication auto fill save time. Also like that I can save templates on various diagnosis.
The ease of training, and the xtra trading videos were a big help. I liked the price of the software.
I am the clinical leader and co-owner of a privately held medium sized home health care company. We have been using Kinnser for two years and are very happy.

Pros

It appeared to have good work flow from clinical to office seamlessly. The billing features seem robust and user friendly as well.
What I like best about Brightree software is it is user friendly and the support staff is amazing.
The vendor is amazing, great customer service, listens to your needs and changes are made quickly, not years later.

Cons

But unfortunately after the new version took place everything seem to go down hill. We started having problems generating claims, we were losing data with each software update :( Very disappointing.
Every time there is an update thing go missing from the system. Clinicians are constantly losing their information and so many bugs and glitches.
Support is terrible and rarely responds, and when they do it's normally a condescending conversation. I've used Kinnser for over 8 years and will look for another solution which is sad.

Cons

We have had problems with OASIS acceptance and fatal errors for skip traces that the system does not automatically follow.
We were unable to bill for services for 3 months due to problems with the documentation because we were not taught how to use it correctly.
Do NOT use their program for documents. You pay a lot and when you leave Brightree it costs to get your documents back.

Pros

I haven't used such an easy system for Home Health. I have had some pretty difficult systems but Agency manager by far is the easiest!

Cons

I don't have a lot of cons to think of but one I could say would be sometimes it freezes up on me and makes me lose what I was working on but that never really happens often for us. When it does, we just give the technical support a call and they usually just tell us it was a glitch and it should be fine if we log out and back in.

In brief, these issues remain: -No auto-save feature ("We're working on one, I've been told." That was 2 years ago.) I don't really lose much anymore due to the lack of an auto-save feature because I have given up with Point of Service documentation and do about 90% of my note at home. Pros

Customer Support is friendly. The software is fairly intuitive and takes very little time to learn. I am a Home Health Physical Therapist using Kinnser/Wellsky Software since Fall of 2017.

Cons

Wow! I have been using this software since fall of 2017. I last wrote a review in February 2018. Of significance, NONE of the issues I had in February 2018 have been addressed. Please see that review so I don't have to repeat the details. Further, the changes they have made (very few from the perspective of an in-the-field-clinician) have made the EMR worse, not better. I AM THINKING OF QUITTING MY JOB OVER THIS SOFTWARE! It makes me very depressed and makes productivity very difficult. I note that very few of the reviewers on this website are clinicians in the field. In my limited experience, most don't like it.

Customer service experience is bad. You could be on hold for over 30 minutes and the call will eventually be cut . Even when you leave a call back number, they hardly return calls.

Pros

Saves a lot of paperwork. The weekly eligibility tests helps a lot in tracking change in payer source.

Cons

Navigating patient's home health episode is time consuming especially patients that has more than 3 episodes . It's disappointing that one could not even modify visit frequency on the OASIS once entered, even though not completed or even exported.

WellSky far surpasses the previous software we used a few months ago.

Pros

WellSky for Hospice has simplified managing my patient load and insuring that all of my workload is organized. Charting is simple and easy on this software.

Cons

The Messaging feature does not allow you to scroll through messages while viewing a message. If you receive several messages, you have to constantly back out and view each individual message.

We Love Kinnser

When I joined the company over 2 years ago, I was taught the ropes of Kinnser Agency manager and Kinnser Hospice. I thought and still think that it was very easy to navigate and learn everything I needed to know!

Pros

This is a great product with fast response times and amazing functionality. One click and you are right where you need to be.

Cons

Sometimes it's very slow and customer service isn't very helpful. They have slow response times and sometimes even tell us they are unable to help.

Steep decline in services and support once WellSky entered.

No benefit of being with a huge corporation like WellSky.

Pros

Easy to use schedule, billing and notes. Flow of the notes are well planned.

Cons

Once WellSky took over Kinnser the quality of support and care for their clients ended. Kinnser was great and did not think of you as a number. WellSky cares more about increasing costs and complicating the Home Health Software. Support is terrible and rarely responds, and when they do it's normally a condescending conversation. I've used Kinnser for over 8 years and will look for another solution which is sad.

Pros

Vendor was very helpful. However I feel that a representative should come out and do a one course on the software. We have a sister facility and was told we could use this software at that location for billing as well. The invoice total is not matching up correctly with client hours. This one of the reason we chose to go with Kinser instead of Clear care.

My agency has used Kinnser for 1 year and overall it is an excellent product. As with all Electronic Health Records, there are a few minor things we would change.

Pros

Billing overview you can see all or your claims in one place, if they are ready to go, and if they have paid. Documenting visits notes extremely easy to learn. Calendar view with visit types is very easy to follow. Customer service is immediate.

Cons

Rescheduling a visit date, I would like for it to be able to change it in more than one place.

Our team will never recommend Kinnser. Their staff are difficult to work with which does not help.

Pros

Use of iPads. The kmail system. There are really no Pros to this product to be discussed. It has been a constant up-hill struggle.

Where to begin. Customer support is awful....they promise to get back to you and then do not follow up so when you call back they do not know what you are talking about. We are a rural Home Health agency and are often out of service area and Kinnser has an offline feature that they charge extra for but that is cumbersome to use and usually does not work. Point of view from a field nurse

After years of paper charting out in the field and seeing other nurses with other companies use computers, I begged my superior to get something like that for us. Shortly thereafter we had our Kinnser system in place. From day one my world was changed! So much easier, faster, and complete. Being able to pull notes forward is amazing. This enables each note to stand alone and the next nurse out gets a complete picture of what's happening. I may write information in the cardiac drop down box, for example. I want everyone who sees's this pt to see this information, but if I had to rewrite it each time it would likely have just been charted on the first note and I wouldn't have rewritten it again. I love this system!

Pros

Biggest pro is pulling the last note, with it's information forward. If another nurse has seen the patient the week before, you see his or her note and have the latest information about what's going on. Being able to update the meds immediately in the home and generate orders and communications immediately on the spot saves tons of time. I feel safer in that I can pull up exact Dr's orders while out in the field. Less middle man communication.

Cons

I love love love the drop down boxes it enables more specific charting right under that specific body system when needed, unfortunately the pain section has no drop down box. This, to me, is a more important area than many of the others to have more room to write. You are limited under all sections under this title so that you are not able, at times to present a true picture and are left to chart what is happening elsewhere within the note. This would seem to be an easy fix. Please add more charting room here and I would be one happy nurse.

I have been using Kinnser for two years and I can't imagine a system that is easier to use or a company that is as responsive to their clients as Kinnser. This is my first experience with an Electronic Medical Record system... or any medical record system because I don't have a health care background. If I can learn this system as quickly as I did, any one can! I cannot say enough good things about Kinnser's staff. From the CEO and down the line each and every person is kind, friendly, skilled and responsive. Every call or email question, inquiry, or suggestion is acknowledged and responded to within at least 24 hours. I would highly recommend this product and this company to everyone.

This is the best home health software i have worked with!

Pros

Saves in the cloud no hitting save, or more importantly FORGETTING to hit save and losing your work! Great point and click options but always has an "other" spot available for a narrative if the options do not apply.

Cons

App shuts down suddenly (but re-logon to saved information), if you have more than 50 current patients you have to unpin some to look at new information

Just a great platform for home health and very user friendly.

Pros

I just love Brightree. As a user in our Home Health office, I find that the AFO side is so easy to use and when I call support I get exceptional assistance. The team at Brightree is always helpful and if they don't have solution right away, they take the time to get an answer and always follow up.

Cons

When updates are made to the AFO and I didn't see the front page updates, I wish it would make you take a tutorial to show you the updates before you can move forward. Sometimes I miss the front page updates and am surprised by new updated pages. BUT usually I get the hang of an update pretty quickly.

Brightree Ipad/Office Review Home health

I am a Home Health RN that uses both sides of brightree office and ipad.

Pros

Scheduling is very easy on office side. Ipad is very easy to use for OASIS and note documentation. It has a lot of built in teaching and intervention things to tie to your note. On office side it has capability to copy a note before erroring it out which allows for corrections to be made without having to re enter all of the note. The communication notes are a great tool. The flow of the note is very good.

Cons

The ipad is set up to only see a 3 month on a calendar period (for example right now you can see December, January, February) which does not allow any addendums to notes before December if needed. Length of time support gets back to you on correcting a problem is slow however that seems to be improving lately. When you heal a wound if that note you healed it on is not closed before the next note that wound stays active and it causes problems in documentation. You have to sync a lot to schedule a visit and add a note.

Able to complete oasis charting in a proficient way. The program very user friendly.

Pros

The program that is set up for the home health assessment charting is dependable, accurate, and easily understood.

Cons

Some of the challenges are that charting is not able to flow over and be seen. Also, when writing a communication once the communication read it is unable to be seen again.

The ease of software for the home health aide, it is easy to navagate and user friendly. The customer service representatives go above and beyond to help with your questions.

Cons

The software for the administrative front office was a little confusing to learn at first, it takes a while to learn.

Overall, LOVE Brightree as a partner with our home health agency. It's truly a partnership and our account manager exceeds expectations with responsiveness to needs and professional support.

Pros

Reports, ease of use for staff Brightree support much improved over the years and genuinely interested in meeting your needs.

Cons

Scheduling component for staff on iPad and AFO. Limitations . Slight clinical documentation limitations to meet optimal compliance areas

Everything you need in one software application

MatrixCare allows all of our home health care documentation from patient care to back office administration, managing employees and billing prep to take place in one system. The amount of time spent documenting has decreased, lower the stress and increasing work/home life balance for my clinicians.

Pros

Ease of navigation with documentation designed for point of service documentation . Customer service is responsive and knowledgable.

Cons

The cost is definately something to consider. With each new added feature there comes an associated cost. Training new staff or refreshing existing staff also has an associated cost. The jump in price from 99 patient - >100 patients was shocking.

Best Home Health DME Software

I have been in the Home Health field for over 18 years, within this time I have used at lease 8 different software. Brightree is the best since I have started my journey.

Pros

AdHoc Reporting Web Based All documents at your finger tips

Cons

Sometimes if you have to make a demographic change it has to be changed in 2-3 locations

I use Brightree every day in my job. I usually use AFO more than CPOC. I thought it was pretty easy to learn compared to hospital EMR systems, but I was new to the home health and hospice field when I transferred my position.

Pros

I like the iPad capability. We are getting ready to use iPads in our office and during the training I see many benefits to the program. I do like that it is web based so I can be at home and sign into Brightree and complete work. I like the updates and how Brightree continues to improve on their products. I do like the support we receive from tech side and clinical side. I believe the are sincere when trying to help me figure out issues.

Cons

Don't like that we cannot print from CPOC. I feel the reports could be more user friendly and they seem to be "down" when I need them the most. I feel we are being forced to change to iPads and CPOC is being fazed out. Did not like that I am charged a monthly fee for Brightree to interface with my hospice PBM company.

Good concept, needs work

Overall this software feels like a new product that still has a LOT of kinks and bugs to work out and does not instill confidence in the user.

Pros

Very user friendly for clinicians and covers most of the basics of home health in office. The basic ideas are all here but each area needs fine tuned to work more efficiently for individual companies. Attractive interface for both AFO and iPads that is very easy to teach to even the most technologically challenged clinicians.

Cons

Not easily customizable and very poor customer service response. We have many needs to be efficient in our daily behind the scenes functionality that the software does not support, simply because it wasn't thought out thoroughly. All HH agencies have the same guideline to follow for compliance so these issues would have been worked out long before now. Initial training and software implementation...

Pros

The software is relatively easily navigable. I do like the ability to switch between screens and patients through the home page. I feel it is a very what you see is what you get type of program. Customer service is very understanding when you reach out to them with problems.

Cons

As a provider of hospice services, the software seems more home health based. This creates some unique problems to the hospice world. Some features of the program are not really great for hospice providers. The other issues are the glitches that seem to crop up from time to time that can really have an affect on operations of a hospice provider.

It is very easy to operate, light easy to carry.Enjoy using IPAD over a laptop.

Pros

Much easier to use over laptop and easier to carry around from home to home.

Cons

That you have to synch so many times to claim and then open pt 's visit, and also on orders.

Big fan of Brightree

I am a staff nurse in home health. I have worked with other programs that have been really difficult and cumbersome. I was chosen as a super user for the software conversion at our agency which has allowed me to become familiar with Brightree at a high level. It has been awesome to use and teach the system to other staff. Love it!

Billing Perspective Review

My review of the Brightree EMR program is from the billing perspective. I began with this program when it was CareAnyware and transitioned to Brightree and remain a current user today. I am one of the Super Users in our organization and assist with troubleshooting issues and training staff on a day to day basis.

Pros

This program is a comprehensive clinical, operational and financial system in a web-based environment. The automated billing functionality allows increased efficiency in our office. Electronic patient records provide our agency with the necessary documentation to produce clean claims sent to Medicare and Medicaid as well as commercial insurance companies. This is very important in today's healthcare...

Cons

In regards to the billing function of Brightree's home health program, there appear to be very few cons. 1) The Medicare Secondary billing process is not fully available and would be helpful in today's society where we are working longer, even after becoming eligible for Medicare. 2) would like to be able to edit the "canned" reports. Specifically the AR report in order to add the DOB. This is a required demographic when performing follow-up/collections.

QA Nurse

I have recommended the program to 2 other agencies. We have passed Home Health state audit one the first stage of the audit. The auditor loved the IPad convenience and the ease of chart review. It was the first agency the auditor ever encountered that had 100% order and visit compliance. As QA nurse I am able to correct and reject items back to the clinicians with a couple of clicks. The documents are easy to retrieve.

Pros

The ease of transmission of CMS files and response tracking makes correcting OASIS so easy. I love working with Brightree.

Cons

There are so many reports that finding what you are exactly looking for can be a little challenging. They are a valuable resource for QA.

Brightree software is innovated, efficient and keeps us in compliance.

Overall, BT is very good software for our agency and encompasses home care and hospice. We had a zero deficiency survey for home care and hospice so compliance is the best aspect.

Pros

BT keeps our agency in compliance as new regulations are introduced they integrate them into the software. We have a particular account manager who goes over and beyond to explain options available in the system, follow up on any problems and supports us through the changes. The Ipads for field staff are fast and efficient, do not get virus, and our clinicians are extremely pleased.

Cons

Not understanding the system or using it to its fullest is a problem for our agency. We need better webinars and education material to be able to maneuver through the software as it is very complex. It is not exactly "user friendly".

Easy to Use

Easy to use once trained properly. Brightree allows for the use of IPADs in the patient's home which as a nurse I have found to be convenient and makes charts easier while in the home.

Highly recommend product

I am a Home Health biller, in years past we have never found anything that would allow us to track receivables within the same system as clinical until we found this product. We can rely on the information provided on reports, and can count on support to give us solutions should we encounter any issues. We have grown tremendously over the past several years, without this software we would have absolutely had to hire additional staff. It certainly has streamlined our processes. Would highly recommend this product.

Pros

Dependable, plentiful reports, support is helpful and knowledgeable.

Cons

Pulling reports can be a bit slow, some days worse than others. The support system is a ticket system, which can be frustrating if you want an immediate answer. They usually try and resolve the end of the day, though, unless it needs to be sent up to the next level of support, then it can be days before you get a solution. I wish there was direct phone support instead.

Brightree Software

As an administrator of a home health agency, I can say we are extremely pleased with Brightree Software. When your nurses and billing departments are happy, your office is happy. That has been our experience since using this software. It is very user friendly and there are many reports I use daily to monitor overall administrative activities of our company. Support has been great and all staff at Brightree are truly interested in making sure everything is working properly. We can honestly say we are satisfied customers.
