A HR Generalists Dream

Reviewed 6 years ago

I was with the company when we made the transition over ADP and it was a huge change but it made normal day to day tasks easier and especially helped with time off/ vacation pay, and benefit compliance.

Pros

I loved being able to keep track of all my employee payroll, time off, benefits and calendars in one place. I had been working with a much simpler software system before we made the transition and it was honestly like night and day. We had an issue with not being able to completely track employee time off so some employees were taking more vacation time than they had earned and with ADP it was so much easier to track all employee hours.

Cons

The only real complaint I have is the time it takes to complete certain tasks. I would rather it be careful and thorough but sometimes it can be time consuming

Okay. Pretty much the same as other PEO companies.

Pros

Everything is under one company, so it centralizes things.

Cons

Big company mentality, and the service reflects that. No weekend or afterhours support.

Overall, experience has been excellent. Definitely has removed any payroll tax issues that could arise.

Pros

The best part about having ADP handle your payroll you have the confidence that they know the latest tax laws, and they own the responsibility for taxes all being paid on time and getting posted to the correct accounts

Cons

We have used ADP over 15 years I would say the only con we have had is if our representative has changed sometimes it takes a little bit of time to catch them up to speed on what we need from them

ADP TotalSource is perfect for HR department of One

Reviewed 2 months ago

I would highly recommend to any HR department of One to use ADP TotalSource. As a company with 60 employees in 11 states, it makes sense to have the added support for state and local compliance in both payroll and policy and procedures. We have employees in CA, which is always coming out with new regulations to adhere to. In addition, I can offer my 60 employees excellent benefits that are typically provided by much larger organizations. Other companies may be less money than ADP, but we get access to other products that would cost us money if we did not have ADP TS. For example, a handbook builder, a learning dashboard, Payscale data,

Pros

As an HR professional, there is always something that comes up that you never had to deal with before. Besides researching and asking other professionals, I have the support of an HR Business partner who has resources at her disposal to assist me in the best plan of action to proceed.

Cons

A few times, I have put through a request in the service portal that went unanswered. I have learned to make sure my HR Business Partner or Payroll Partner is aware of my submission to assist along the way.

Vendor response

Hi Denise, wow! Thank you so much for this review! We appreciate your feedback and know it will be helpful and informative for other customers. Let us know if you need anything at all to continue having a great experience!

Good but service is declining.

Reviewed 2 months ago

I like ADP. However, they need to determine a way to improve their current operations. Hire more staff and keep costs down.

Pros

All-in-one services for HR needs. We are a small business and needed a partner to cover these services for us. ADP offered a comprehensive, full-service platform and team.

Cons

Service is declining. We have been with ADP for over a decade, and I have seen a real shift in the level of service provided. This includes response times, level of service, ADP morale (within their own teams), etc. Their reps are all helpful, but they appear to be over-tasked. This has become more and more evident in the last 3-4 years.

ADP Totalsource

Reviewed 2 months ago

Overall, I have been happy with ADP Totalsource, but feel that I am now doing so much more that I did before that you covered. I really need seamless system, so I can cover the employee needs and make sure their payroll, benefits, 401K, etc. is taken care of for them.

Pros

ADP has be good for me as a one person HR Department. I would have to say it was better before we changed over to Workforce

Cons

I really went through changes going to Workforce, and it has taken me time to adjust. It is very expensive, but I have not been walked through our billing and costs for your services since I changed over. Would love to continue with ADP, but would like a discount for the years we have been with you since 2013. I dop not like the training format. I need my employees to do their mandatory training, but the site is very difficult to navigate. Needs a better plan.

We used this product for our HRIS.

Reviewed 6 years ago

We were able to move from paper to electronic records.

Pros

Helped us transition from paper to the electronic age. We now had a system within which we could maintain several employee functions, so in the end it did save us time and allowed us to do more (run reports, retrieve employee data quickly, etc.)

Cons

It was so buggy! The two sides (HR and Payroll modules) would not "talk" to each other which meant errors or glitches. Trying to keep data accurate was nightmarish. We had to develop our own internal process of not making any changes on the HR side when Payroll was running. We actually gave it two days before we would make any changes, even if an employee had terminated on the day payroll was running. Reports were rarely accurate.

Very user friendly, easy to navigate. Reports are great. Current on laws and mandates involving HR

Reviewed 6 years ago

The assurance that I am up on all the laws and mandates involving human resources, that I have handled HR issues appropriately, that my payroll is done correctly with the correct withholdings and my PTO is correctly calculated. I like that I have a plethora of reports at my disposal.

Pros

The ease of use and the fact that I know all my "i's" are dotted and my "t's" are crossed when it comes to Federal and State laws and mandates. Payroll is smooth and easy requiring just a little data entry. The new hire process is quick and easy. I love the Handbook creator and am looking forward to starting the training for our employees. I love that if you are not sure what to do you can click on the training video and take a quick tutorial. I also like that instructions come with most forms so nothing is left out and there is very little room for error. I love my payroll rep and HR business partner. If I have a question, they are always quick with an answer and many times have taken the time to walk me through what to do so I understand the process and learn it.

Cons

I have not quite figured out how to use the performance management section under the HR tab. There are still so many functions that I have not used. It took quite a bit of effort to get our PTO to be calculated and to show up on our employees pay stub.

If your looking for a complete Payroll option, This is it!

Reviewed 5 years ago

ADP also allows employees to request time off, and employers to approve or decline. Highly recommend for small and large companies.

Pros

The designers of ADP knew what they were doing when they created it! ADP has everything an employer needs in a payroll company. Clocking in and out is SUPER simple and creates no hassle! As an employer you are able to do full employee evaluations, as well as allow them to self evaluate! You can also assign employees to review each other which is a great option. The best feature of ADP is that employees has access to their employee profile allowing them to see their pay rate, date of hire, view and print out pay stubs, etc which is easier than having to go through an HR department.

Cons

I have nothing negative to say about ADP.

Like this better for my HR needs

Reviewed 8 months ago

Overall i think this is the best decision the company could've made with the new move. I like that I can view all of my benefits, time, time off requests and more in the same place.

Pros

Everything that I need for my HR needs are all in one place and I don't need to bounce from site to site to find what I need.

Cons

I think there should be an online chat for those that don't want to be one hold for long time to just ask a simple quick questionl

ADP TotalSource - cumbersome but inclusive

Reviewed 6 years ago

Good product overall, but there is a learning curve

Pros

Administrators are able to adjust, edit, or update anything. Assigning managers and time card approvers is easy, and time off requests live in a portal - that way if one manager is covering for another it is easy for them access and approve.

Cons

Many features are not intuitive to find and some updates require changes in 2 or 3 completely different areas. Customer service is ok, not great. They'll help you quickly but do not always fix the problem on the first or second try.

Not Cost Effective

Reviewed 2 months ago

It is important for small businesses to understand their costs at all times. If you decide to go with TS understand that you cannot change one part without unraveling everything. They lock you in and it is very difficult to make a change that makes the most sense for your business. The HR component is not strong. HR is not involved, with the exception of benefits one time per year and the renewal...

Pros

The payroll was the best part of TS. I am keeping the payroll and dumping TS.

Cons

HR is totally oversold. They are involved one time per year, when it is time to renew the contract and benefits. Other than that they do not partner on any level.

Costly but Worth It

Reviewed 2 months ago

This company is the first company I've worked at that used ADP as its PEO. The fact that everything I could possibly need for payroll, HR, and compliance is available to me through ADP makes up for the cost. But the fact that ADP takes care of the majority of the annual/semi-annual/quarterly reporting as well as benefits makes the cost definitely worth it. I hope I never have to work without a PEO again! And as ADP is the largest (that I'm aware of), I hope my relationship with them continues!

Pros

I like that ADP is a one-stop shop, as far as payroll and HR are concerned, and they take care of a LOT of the reporting for our company, which is great for those of us who are constantly racing just to keep up with work on a daily basis.

Cons

The cost is high and there appears to be a lot of turnover at ADP.

Vendor response

Hi Dena, thank you for the thorough review of TotalSource! Your feedback has been shared with our product development teams to continue driving positive changes. We are looking forward to the continued partnership!

The total source of frustration

Reviewed 2 months ago

My predecessor chose ADP TS in a hope to streamline and consolidate all of the payroll, benefit administration and HR management into one platform. The TS platform is very clunky and not intuitive at all - whether it be the prep of payroll, the access of reports, trying to decide what benefits you want - none of it was easy. I have used ADP Total Run for other employers and it is so easy and while...

Pros

Almost nothing. I found very little to like about their software or support.

Cons

The support we received from our "team"? It was a random list of names of folks you could never reach or get a response if you emailed them.
