Pros

Organization can be cumbersome and annoying, but it's a good problem to have. Slow, clunky load times.

Pros

Great for posting jobs and applicant review.

Cons

Back end of Ascentis is not very user friendly at all for mass communication and employee portal information unless you are very experienced in HTML format.

Good product needs some tweaks

Easily update and track employees and payroll.

Pros

I used the HR side and information updated was easily transferred to the payroll side. Employee self service is great (if your employees know how to use computers) they can update all of their information and can even complete open enrollment online.

Cons

I did not handle payroll but our payroll specialist said it was missing features our old basic software could handle such as different pay rates for employees who work different shifts.

Long-term user of HR Office

We've used HR Office for about 20 years now -- started out with the in-house Access version and have used the .asp version since about 2001/2002.

Pros

The key reason we've stayed with this system is that it provides automatic calculations of paid time off based on a formula we set up, automatically changing accruals on employee anniversary dates.

Cons

We recently implemented the self service to manage PTO requests and overall, we're thrilled to have made that move (we have multi-tiered approvals, which they didn't have in the past).

Recommendations to others considering Ascentis

The system was easy to use and had a clear, concise screen for both managers and employees to use. We met with other providers, and their products were too overwhelming. I had given them my wish list, and they were trying to sell me all of the bells and whistles instead of what I wanted. That showed me how their customer service was, and it wasn't with the client.

Our first week using, we've had a few things that needed fixed. Par for the course for anything new. Hope we grow to love it. It's our first HR software.

Pros

Adjusting to this new software, all first-time users. Getting used to the format and all it has to offer.

Cons

Some employees are asking HR to check with Ascentis to see if an app is available for mobile users.

Moving to Ascentis Was the Best Decision We Made for our Organization

They are a great organization that employees top-notch experts who are there to help you.

Pros

This was helpful to us because we are so busy but they held our feet to the fire with deadlines (and we met our go-live date with ease). Our employees like the easy to use system and we have received much positive feedback since rolling out.

Cons

The end-user's interface (Employee Self Service) is 100% web-based, so no issues there.

Ascentis fills a niche that has a vacuum but is not complete

What took it over the top with poor satisfaction is that they tried to be good partners but as of late they just throw in the towel and want money.

Pros

Ascentis does the benefits, applicants and other HR functions on a basic level.

Cons

If you want any integrations or some of the complexities when have beyond 100 employees, would suggest not utilizing Ascentis.

We use Ascentis for our entire HR/payroll system. Overall has helped but lack of flexibility hurts.

The biggest is having an automated solution for our employees who work in may different locations and areas.

Pros

The ability to roll out HR solutions for all employees and customize into our internal website has been helpful.

Cons

Ascentis does not have its own in-house timekeeping software and so we interface with an external software which makes the process more difficult than necessary.

The Switch to an HRIS System

Pros

There is no way we would've been able to keep up with our growth had it not been for the implementation of Ascentis HRIS and Time/Payroll.

Cons

We experienced some implementation woes, as was to be expected, but the main issue has been with the flow of our HR employee info and benefit elections flowing over accurately to Payroll and our carrier connect pieces.

Really take the time to evaluate your work processes and see how much you can incorporate using this system. Using the self-service portal, manager self-service, employee self-service, Ascentis time, etc., and mainly the elections flowing over to our carriers has saved us a tremendous amount of time!

The vendor team has great customer service and is very helpful.

Setting up the reporting is difficult at first, but once it is run the first time, you can save and re-run it with different dates.

Cons

I would definitely recommend Ascentis to anyone ... large or small company. Our transition to Ascentis was well supported and has opened our processes up to today's world.

I chose Ascentis in a very short time frame after viewing 10 Payroll/HR/Timekeeping software solutions.

Pros

It is completely customizable, no "cookie cutter" software with Ascentis.

Cons

Timekeeping side (Novatime) can be a little slower in response for support, but the product itself is amazing.

I really do like the Ascentis system and would highly recommend it because it offers a lot of functionality and great value for a mid size employer. Many similar systems are often priced significantly higher or out of reach.

Pros

Their customer service is very good.

I think this product is great. Our company is uniquely structure and has difficulty with systems fitting our needs. Ascentis gives us control to customize the system to how we need it, the only draw back is understanding the details on how things flow and what changes effect other areas.

Pros

Everything flows together so it cuts down on duplicate work. The reporting is great and I like how we can basically create any report we need.

Cons

Sometimes it is hard to determine what flows to what and how certain things / changes effect other parts of the system. Can be complicated to figure out. Deadlines for Quarterly and annual filings are hard to meet.
