Pros

It's been a wonderful experience with Blackboard, i love how other applications integrate so well with Blackboard.
Blackboard is wonderful for students, it is very easy to use and they constantly do updates that help improve the system.
Overall I had a wonderful experience and I’ve talked to other students about their thoughts and the overall consensus was it’s great for the busy college student.

Pros

Moodle is a great way to make learning for students fun and interactive! it is fun, colorful, and very engaging.
They offer incredibly detailed configuration options and the community is full of wonderful active people that are always there to help you if it's needed.
The overall experience using Moodle is good. It great to navigate even if your a first time user and is very effective in online teacher especially during this pandemic.

Cons

We ran our own host and it had nothing but problems, and I am not talking hardware. Every time we went to run an update, it broke something.
Everything about Blackboard is clunky — at least as it is set up in our university. Operations that should be drag and drop require multiple clicks.
When you first enter blackboard it can seem hard to navigate and seem overwhelming for both student and teacher. The options for customization for teachers are somewhat limited.

Cons

The overall experience was dull, heavy, and made everyone unhappy and struggling.
It is now a bulky applications with hell lots of features, it will take you around 2-3 months to properly go through every feature, no matter how fast you are.
Moodle can be difficult to find classes you are taking. I have had struggles signing into my class and finding them.

Blackboard Learn is Decent

Reviewed 3 years ago

My overall experience has been pretty positive with Blackboard Learn. I will continue to evaluate it against the other options available as well.

Pros

I think Blackboard is better than Canvas, but maybe not better than Moodle. It has some flexibility but perhaps not as much as Moodle has. It seems pretty stable and certainly is more stable than Canvas.

Cons

Blackboard could use some more flexibility features. This is true especially for setting up quizzes and exams where it is not as easy to use as Moodle.

Blackboard is the best learning management software I've used

Reviewed 5 months ago

Overall, Blackboard easily beats out other software like Moodle and Brightspace

Pros

Blackboard is intuitive and user friendly, in addition to having all the necessary functionalities of a learning management software (uploading work, setting deadlines, accessing grades, etc.)

Cons

The deadline feature goes to the minute, not to the second - this can be a problem for people who upload their work last-minute.

Blackboard Learn

A decent LMS, but there are better ones out there that have less workability issues

Reviewed 3 years ago

I have used both Blackboard and Moodle in the past, and I found them very similar for what they offered. I would have been fine using Blackboard indefinitely had I not found out about Canvas, which is what we are using now and I am absolutely it's biggest fan!

Pros

I used Blackboard for almost 10 years, and it was a decent LMS for my needs. When Blackboard Collaborate came out, it was even better because it added a new layer of possibilities (I could have several webinar/conversations going, merge conversations, and/or present to different groups at one time). However, there were always bugs in the system, even though we updated constantly. The Blackboard app was also very limited.

Cons

Too many bugs and freezes; many of my students had issues with accessing links when they used different internet browsers. Good for a small school or business, but not larger ones.

Blackboard Learn

Effective tool for the right industry

Reviewed 8 months ago

I've used Blackboard for many, many years in higher ed setting. Even before they acquired WebCT. Over the years there have been so many versions. Some I loved. Some I found inferior to others (like Moodle). Newer versions weren't always better. However higher ed has unique requirements for compliance, integration and accreditation which makes BlackBoard an ideal tool for that sector. It's fairly easy to use and it's very reliable. If you're in an industry like higher ed, I highly recommend it.

Pros

It's reliable. Rarely needed tech support. It's pretty easy to use most of the time. It meets the complex compliance and integration requirements of higher education.

Cons

Lack of customizability. Course templates were generic with little flexibility for how it appears. Also with so many versions and always changing things around, it can be frustrating because you're used to a different version. If you're not in an industry with a lot of compliance regulations (privacy, accreditation etc.) I'd stay away and use something lighter and more flexible.

Pros

It is fairly easy to use and adopt. The platform provides some nice features for communication with other programs. It allows a lot of customizations

Basic system but in a good way

I was very glad my university used Moodle rather than Blackboard. Previous experience with blackboard was very sour and it was refreshing to have a smooth online platform.

Pros

IT was just easy to use. All classes that used moodle, which was basically all of them, had the same format for the most part so it was easy to keep up with. Easy to login to, easy to edit settings. Made it easy to interact with teachers and other students.

Cons

Every once in a while there were glitches such as not uploading documents but overall no issues.

Moodle

It Works for What it Is

Reviewed 4 years ago

Overall, I thought Moodle was going to be better than Blackboard as Blackboard has its glitches. However, I quickly found out that Moodle is confusing. Although better in one or two aspects, I believe the program has some sorting out to do but, it could definitely contend with Blackboard if it simply was more user-friendly for both students and teachers.

Pros

This program is easier to use than most like it. It organizes things a little better than Blackboard does as far as announcements go and the to-do list. The name is fun and easy to remember.

Cons

This program is confusing to use. From the teacher and student end, it's nowhere near as easy as Blackboard is to use. You're never certain that what you're clicking on is correct or where it might take you. I used this program as a teacher and as a student, both experiences made me appreciate Blackboard even more. I would say the biggest con is he confusing nature of the entire program. It needs clearer labels and information on what each aspect covers and how it operates. Even after the tutorial offered, you're still left quite baffled and eventually give up and continue to stumble through and hope it all turns out ok, which it usually does.

Overall experience with google is under satisfactory as compared to Blackboard and Canvas. It is the least help application I have ever used.

Pros

The software is an online education learning module software. It is mostly used by universities and other educational institutes. Overall the software is very decent, it offers a variety of features, plagiarism checker, and other variety of features. It does not have any option of predicting grade which is offered by Canvas. As a T.A. I would as it is a decent software but there are better softwares than moodle.

Overall I would recommend the software. However, the company needs to be do better to respond to support requests and to make sure the software is functional.

Pros
