Selling Courses Online

The primary reason why training companies use Firmwater LMS is to sell their courses online. Firmwater LMS is integrated with Shopify, which offers a straightforward way to design online stores to deliver courses to customers. It also provides businesses with the ability to sell courses individually or in bundles. Shopify supports single seat (B2C) and multiple seat (B2B) purchase scenarios.

Choose from more than 100 professionally-designed themes when designing your online store. Even when you use a theme, Shopify still gives you total control over your website’s design. A rich marketing toolkit helps you design pages in a way that’s SEO-friendly. You can then start accepting credit cards and PayPal payments, with Firmwater LMS handling the delivery of e-learning courses automatically after ordering.

Managing Clients

Firmwater LMS offers a way for its users to manage all of their clients through the same interface where they manage learning content. This unified interface makes it easier for instructors to setup their online courses. Users can setup new clients with their own LMS and grant access to all or part of their content libraries. Users can also make updates to learning modules in one place across all clients and courses.

Each client who signs up for your e-learning course will see his or her own learning portal with custom branding, settings, and available content. Client administrators will then be able to add participants to courses based on department, language, job title or location. From the Configuration tab, you can see how many users are in each client group and view all the clients that exist under your company.

Running SCORM Content

Firmwater LMS is SCORM compliant. SCORM is the e-learning industry standard for the interoperability of learning content. Firmwater LMS can run any SCORM-compliant e-learning course. (Most general-purpose content development environments can now produce SCORM content.)

By using a platform that is SCORM compliant, you can ensure that your clients have the ability to pause and resume their learning activities at will. You will also be able to access detailed response data reports, whether you use Articulate, Captivate, Camtasia, Lectora or any other tool that can publish to SCORM 1.2 or SCORM 2004.

Generating Reports

Detailed reports keep users on top of what is happening in their e-learning courses. Using the reporting feature, Firmwater LMS users are able to keep track of learner activity in real-time. Get a better understanding of how clients are interacting with your courses through Firmwater’s powerful reporting feature.

Firmwater offers over 15 different reports, including starts and completions, participant status, and activity detail reports. These all allow you to filter the report output based on location, department or job title, to help you get the report data you need. You can export reports to multiple formats for delivery, or slice and dice the data in whichever way you see fit.

It took a little while to learn it but now it's very easy to navigate it.

The most important benefit, besides very few if any user technical issues, is not having to personally deactivate accounts because the system does it automatically.

Pros

It has a lot of great features: Allowing a payee to send an invitation to someone else, easy access to the certificates after account is inactive, ability to send e-mails to participants reminding them of their time limit, automatically deactivating participants after a period of time, easy access to management to change participant's information (e-mail address), being able to resend invitations to start the class, easy access to view participant's information by management, and many other features that I can't think of.

Cons

There are only a few drawbacks or cons that we found: Some reports cannot be printed out using PDF.

We chose Firmwater after a detailed review of options, For a training company/organization, Firmwater is the best I have reviewed or used.

The reporting feature is not ideal and I often question the accuracy of its data, and I feel as if I have no specified customer support manager.

Pros

Once I figured out what I needed to get done in it, it is relatively easy to use.

The multitude of reports on each user and piece of content is a great feature for us.

Cons

One feature that I wish was available within Firmwater was the ability to email users or send users reminders that their training needs to be completed by this date.

Intuitive user interface for students- I received no service requests on how to access courses.

Cons

Uploading multiple SCORM files into a single course requiresd customer support. Although CS is prompt in responding to this need, this still caused some delays. There is a need to post an optional threaded discussion associated with each course offering.

I do not need to repeat the great comments from other reviewers; however, I would like to bullet some of the key features that make this LMS stand out from the pack: Smooth Shopify integration Ability to customize all messages to users and the certificate The ability to setup (on the fly) any number of branded clients and provide resellers )or departments) with the ability to manage their admin back end Many ways of register users (including time delimited memberships) Locations that support geography and organizational structure AICC support Very flexible reporting And yes, the best support I have received since working with computers in 1982.

They are a great team to work with, very responsive to their customers needs.

Pros

Firmwater staff have always been quick to address technical support issues, and they continue to develop or enhance the product over time. While our courses are marketed directly to individuals, the ability to create different client portals has allowed us to develop strategic alliances with corporate users using different pricing models for each.

Cons

The one feature that we could use that isn't currently available is a promo code that can be applied at checkout.

An expert company that is willing to listen and adapt to meet client needs. Happy to be a reference for them.

Pros

The Firmwater LMS solution was the best choice for us because they focus on providing functionality to a business like ours. We are a global training provider and want our clients to perceive the LMS as belonging to Channel Enablers. We also wanted to establish seperate secure LMS sites for each of our major 'downstream' customers. Only Firmwater could do this for us. The payment gateway solution also suits our needs. Although we had expertise in e-learning we were new to SCORM and new to LMS. Firmwater helped us deploy our courses and shielded us from a lot of the complexity. Pricing flexibility was important - Firmwater offer us options on a pay-per start or pay per number of users basis that suits our business. Overall - a good solution at a reasonable cost.

Cons

The system is still developing - we look forward to additional ease of use improvements and improved user access security funcationality over time. None of these has been a show stopper.
