Pros and cons

I really think this is a great tool for those of us who teach American Sign Language. It allows us to provide timely feedback, and the ease of use is amazing.
GoReact has good technical support for teachers and students. They have a good history of working with university-level technicians and working with small departments.
The video quality is great, and the ease is use is through the roof a plus.
Students sometimes block the camera's view. I have warned each semester about making sure the position the patient in a way the instructor can have an unobstructed view.
Sometimes things would freeze up and glitch. Uploading can sometimes be a pain due to this.
District firewalls made it difficult to record using Go React.com or the app.

GoReact is great for teaching and learning ASL!

Reviewed a year ago

GoReact is an excellent product. Any time there is a problem, we are able to get it resolved very quickly! As new features are added, our ASL Program has requested and always received personalized training from GoReact specialists to maximize our understanding and use of the new features. I highly recommend it to everyone!

Pros

I love the ability to leave video feedback throughout a student's project. This makes it easy for students to review their work, helping them identify and correct their errors.

Cons

I believe $30 a semester is too much for some classes that only use the software for a few video assignments. I wish there were more purchase options when making an account such as paying for a specific number of recording hours or assignments.

GoReact is NOT just for Remote or Pandemic Observations

Reviewed a year ago

GoReact really enhanced our ability to observe Student Teachers during the pandemic AND now we still use it because our budget has not allowed us to hire more full-time or adjunct supervisors for our growth. We have so many Student Teaching candidates to see and using GoReact allows us to observe candidates in these greater numbers than normal in person time would allow AND with more targeted specific feedback they can interact with.

Pros

I think the #1 pro for me and my student teaching candidates is the fact that they can see what I've seen and can review their own teaching and use their own markers OR respond to my markers/comments. This means they are not left with the impression of ONLY what I saw and commented on but it allows them to really reflect and not just have the "I think this is what I did" but actually see what I did...

Cons

I only have 2 areas that I would like to see added or improved: 1. Some form of auto-correct or spell-check built into the comments section. I get typing pretty fast while watching the videos and there will be mistakes but the system does not correct them. I'd really like that added. 2. This feature is more for the candidates, but I'd like to see candidates have the ability to trim videos through the process, not full editing features but a way to trim out portions as they need them, especially for edTPA.

React and Go with Go React

Reviewed a year ago

It hasn't been very responsive to those presenters having difficulty with uploading issues.

Pros

Go React enables the viewer to add comments while viewing the video. Subtitles also assist audio output. Additional symbols and tags cans be added to abbreviate certain skills and significant rubric notes.

Cons

The software could be improved with more editing features such as on Google docs., Acrobat's PDF's, Kami and other detailed and involved editing applications. For example, highlighting, bolding, underlining etc. could reflect a more complete way to review notes with a presenter. Currently it is necessary to retype these video notes into a more coherent format to follow and reflect the specific elements required..

GoReact makes feedback work for all teachers, especially ASL teachers & interpreter trainers

Reviewed a year ago

My overall experience with GoReact has been exceptional. The company is attentive to the needs of its end users. For example, giving video feedback can be time-consuming. Observing the burden on instructors, they created a stamp system to speed feedback. GoReact added many features to make their feedback system the optimal web-based software for ASL and interpreting course instructors to gather student videos and give feedback in ASL.

Pros

GoReact is the only viable feedback system that allows effective time-synced annotations of student video submissions. My comments can be from a webcam, a screen recording, a file I upload, or simple text. When I go to give comments, I can see the original stimulus the student was watching and t e student's response to the stimulus playing in sync. My feedback gets synced to them both. Oth r freemium...

Cons

As far as I know, they still don't have a one-time use or pay-as-you-go plan. Sometimes, I want to use it for one assignment or exam in a course without forcing students to sign up for the entire semester.

EVERY student overcame their fear of public speaking

Reviewed a year ago

Fabulous! Previously, I had used 2 different video recording platforms which did not integrate with our course software. GoReact embedded right into my campus courses so I graded the videos directly. Our Instructional Designers figured out how post 30 Legacy Videos, 3 per week, at the beginning of each of my weekly assignments. I wanted our students to see 3 examples of speaking success and more...

Pros

I embedded GoReact into every Graduate Business Communications class I taught. This software ensured the each of the 30 students practiced 1x per week in private, no matter how shy they were about speaking up in class. I set up 10 weekly assignments starting out at 30 seconds of recording and adding 30 seconds each week. By the end of the quarter, they had spoken for a total of 20 minutes using the structures and speech skill they learned. GoReact allowed them to self-correct in private thereby building confidence and success.

Cons

I was too busy with the rest of my class content to learn most of the special feedback and editing features of the software, which might have been useful if I were privately coaching an individual who needed that level of detail. GoReact is functional at a basic level, which I used, all the way to detailed analysis.

Makes Virtual-Class-Communication Better

Reviewed a year ago

It has made my teaching better, as I can add comments directly to the timing in the students' speeches - making my feedback clearer and easier for students to learn what parts worked well, or what needs improvement and why.

Pros

This software has made my transfer from in-class to online so easy. The app is very easy to set-up, to help students register, to create and utilize customized rubrics, monitor when students have completed assignments, and fun platforms to provide both written and video feedback. The ability to customize each class to meet the needs of the presenters (live, or recorded with screen-share or uploaded...

Cons

Most of the uploaded materials allowed have to be in a PDF format - so this does, at times, limit what students can attach to their assignments. However, the "How To" instructional videos for students in the library of GoReact are so clear and helpful - it's not difficult to direct them to ways to make this conversion.

Goreact tested, dependable and innovative

Reviewed a year ago

I use goreact for group presentations and for public speaking presentations in classes that I teach online and in seat. For the in seat classes I use the software for practice sessions, makeup options for students that had to miss class, and during covid to help with using facial expressions with private tapings which would not be possible with our university regulations to be masked indoors currently.

Pros

I use this software with a lot of first time users and the "how to" guides and ease of the interface make it extremely easy to use with others. I have tried several other products and they are much more time intensive, glitchy, or require me to do a lot more "hand holding" to get users up and running to use the software. It just works, and does a great job at doing that. Finally they have incorporated several additional features over the years without burdening the program with unnecessary bells and whistles. The video quality is great, and the ease is use is through the roof a plus. The company is also very interactive with administrators, checking to make sure expectations are satisfied, and meeting to explore other usage options if necessary.

Cons

Nothing- I have used it for over 6 years, and have no regrets or complaints. If I ever had questions, I have been always given a prompt and live response from the company.

I know there are a lot of more features within the app that I have not used, but they are difficult to learn alone. If I had a training to learn how to use the WHOLE platform, I would definitely take advantage of it.

Pros

The fact students videos will stop at the moment that I begin typing comments or make videos about their assignments allowing students to review my comments at the exact moment. The label section too, it helps to identify and organize their assignments better.

Cons

The platform only accepts PDF documents. I wish they could accept any type of file in a manner that I can just simply drag them from my desktop to the platform.

The pros and cons of GoReact

Reviewed 8 months ago

Overall, I think it is a really useful resource. As I indicated above, the only issue that I have is the inability to upload larger videos.

Pros

It allows me to comment on videos that my students submit with time stamps. That way, students can see what my comments are related to. They can comment on each others' videos the same way.

Cons

The size limit for videos is an issue. My students record videos of themselves teaching, and uploading them is a problem. Because of privacy issues, they cannot use the feature of putting the video through You Tube. So, often they have to divide the video into parts, which they don't all know how to do.

Great way to give and receive feedback

Reviewed a year ago

I loved it and learned a lot thanks to it. Unfortunately I haven’t tested any alternatives so I don’t know how it compares.

Pros

I used this product during my intensive conference interpreter training. What I liked most was how easy it made giving and receiving feedback. It was never hard to use.

Cons

If it froze, sometimes I would lose my recordings. While it seems to have a system in place to allow for short internet loss, it didn’t work as smoothly as would be ideal.

GoReact revolutionized how I teach Public Speaking

Reviewed a year ago

I am a long time, loyal user of GoReact, as I started when they were very new and have faithfully used this product with my students for almost 10 years. I have proudly brought it to every institution I have taught at and have recommended it to every public speaking teacher I have ever talked to about recording speeches. I am a big proponent of recording and using the video to be your own coach. But...

Pros

The in time commenting!!!!! This is, by far, my favorite feature. It allows me to be quick in what I type because I don't have to contextualize as much. And it allows the student to understand better because it's in real time on the video!

Cons

My biggest (and probably only) complaint is that when I am commenting on pre-recorded videos, there is no way to let the video keep playing while I comment. I'm sure some love the pause-when-I-type function, but I am so used to typing while people speak, it wastes a lot of time for me. I wish we had the option to do it either way!

Recruiting Assessment Review

Reviewed a year ago

Overall, I enjoy and appreciate using GoReact.

Pros

The technological features are incredibly helpful for our applications to complete their assessments. We assess potential sign language interpreters, which means video and audio are both critical, and having more than one video next to each other is needed as well. GoReact allows our team to set up applicants for their assessment and get it sent to our assessment team very well. Additionally, I used the program in college, while I was studying to become an ASL interpreter. GoReact was invaluable there, as well.

Cons

Sometimes the site seems to run slowly - for example, yesterday I was trying to get a submission deleted so that I could allow an applicant to restart part of the assessment that had frozen on them. It also was moving very slowly on my end, so we both had to log out and log back in before I was able to get it running.

Best Choice for Presentations & Peer Reviews

Reviewed a year ago

I've used GoReact in my courses for over 6 years. One year our department tried a different LTI - the semester was miserable because the feature of the other product didn't even compare to the those in GoReact. By the end of the semester, I told the course director I would only teach the course again if GoReact was used as the presentation software.

Pros

There are so many features about GoReact that I love as an instructor. To name the top three would be the time stamped comments, markers, and the rubric features. With the time stamped comments, students can see the exact moment the feedback applies. This develops their understanding of presentations in greater depth than general feedback at the end of a review. The markers make it easy to identify continuing elements without retyping phrases over and over. They also create a unified system of commenting with multiple reviewers. Finally, the rubrics make it easy to grade presentations and again create consistency in evaluation with multiple reviewers.

Cons

Cost is an issue for our institution. Because we are a small institution, the number of licenses we need makes it slightly less cost effective over other brands.

Forging Relationships in an Online Environment

Reviewed a year ago

We have loved using GoReact over the past five+ years. Onboarding was detailed, technical help was quick and friendly.

Pros

There are two features that I really like. The first has to do with the ability of GoReact to talk to our LMS. I only have to enter grades once. The second feature that we like is the ability for faculty and students to be able to respond to the person who made the recording in a like manner (video). As an instructor in an online institution, these recordings allow me to get a glimpse into my students' personalities, but even more important are the friendships that we see develop through these asynchronous conversations. GoReact has made our discussion boards much more personal and relatable than writing could ever do providing a dynamic, online environment.

Cons

From an instructor's point of view, the only con I have is that the rubrics within GoReact do not talk to the rubrics within our LMS that are used for reporting course and program outcomes.

Rubrics

Reviewed a year ago

I want to give you the feedback for the LTI Tool. I need ONE account for my LTI tool because I teach several universities/colleges for semesters and semesters. So that I can use the same rubric from my account but I cannot do that. I had to create new rubric for that university's LTI Tool. I know that using www.goreact.com is easier for me to create several rubrics and courses in one account, but the LTI tool doesn't work. I want to give you the feedback that LTI TOOL account and www.goreact.com account should be merged. For example, my account is in www.goreact.com and I create several courses. Once it's done, then that specific course's code should be merged with a specific university's canvas & LTI tool. That's my two cents.

Pros

I love the rubrics and LTI tool in the canvas. It is easier way to submit the grades.

Cons

The cons is that my feedback in GoReact's comment box never have been notified to students. I had to announce to the students that they have to revisit their GoReact assignment to open inside the tool and view at my comments & rubrics.

Covid- ready!

Reviewed a year ago

Excellent! The help desk responded immediately to all our concerns. Students experienced growth by viewing their videos and supervisors were able to observe teaching demonstrations virtually.

Pros

Go React enabled our students to be observed and mentored by supervisors during the pandemic. While additional people where not allowed in schools, our student teachers could be evaluated using the Go React tool. We, also, found it useful in self-evaluation. Students are able to view themselves teaching and make adjustments for their next teaching demonstrations. They can self-evaluate and view growth from one video to the next.

Cons

District firewalls made it difficult to record using Go React.com or the app.

Sign Language Interpreting Agency - Very Grateful for GoReact!

Reviewed a year ago

It is a wonderful tool that has really allowed us to support the interpreters we serve. Customer service has also been BEYOND HELPFUL. They are great at troubleshoot and addressing any bugs. Huge help.

Pros

I indicated that the "industry" I work in is "staffing and recruiting" but that's not accurate. I work for a sign language interpreting agency that staffs the majority of interpreters working in the NYC public school system. We utilize GoReact to support them in professional development opportunities as well as their annual evaluations. The fact that this software allows us to easily analyze their interpreting process by syncing feedback with the video as they are working is crucial. Additionally, the option to copy a course is so time saving!

Cons

I find it VERY helpful that there are now email notifications when someone completes an assignment. It would be helpful if there was an option for comments and completed assignments to become email notifications sent to the instructors and reviewers. It seems to only go to the "admin" on the account...who is not always the person that needs to be alerted. If there was a drop down menu or check box option to select who was alerted for each course, that would be AMAZING!!

GoReact for Assessments & Feedbacks

Reviewed a year ago

I think using GoReact is excellent tool for all sign languages. Maybe there might be key shortcuts somewhere rather than relying on the mouse all the time.

Pros

I liked the fact that I am able to provide feedback while I watch the students' video assessments. Plus giving the gradings make the job a bit more easier rather than going back and forward on two different platforms.

Cons

One thing that annoys me the most is that every time I stop and click to open up the feedback video, it takes a while for the video to open or sometimes it says it doesn't find my webcam and I have to refresh it again. That took up a bit of my time than usual.

Must have for teachers of music

Reviewed a year ago

I love it, I can't imagine teaching without it.

Pros

I use GoREAct to make a videos with daily vocal exercises. The students can then sing along with me (wearing headphones) and then I can play back their recording and hear just them. I'm able to provide feedback and adjustments as needed and have a snapshot into guided practice time. I've never had a tool in the studio that I like more. I feel like I'm really able to be in the practice room with the students and help them learn HOW to practice.

Cons

It takes a while to implement into each assignment on Canvas. It is expensive.

Great tool for higher education

Reviewed a year ago

Overall I am very pleased with GoReact. They have had great customer service and provide opportunities for professional development and tutorials frequently to help new, and existing users, use the website with ease.

Pros

The ease of use for my student teachers is a huge benefit for this software. The interface is very straight forward for both student teachers to use when uploading videos, as well as for me to use while setting up my GoReact classrooms. I also enjoy the personalization of the program; I am able to create my own rubrics and video tags that are specific to each section.

Cons

I would like for there to be an option of assigning a course section to be either year-long or just semester-long; for my year-long student teachers, I have to create a new section for them each semester and re-invite them to a new GoReact classroom, rather then letting them stay in one section for the entire school year.

Love this program for American Sign Language and Intepreting courses

Reviewed a year ago

I love it!!! I have recommended this program to others teaching ASL and ITP and also those teachers teaching public speaking. this program provides a stellar way to grade students in the courses mentioned above. no other program provides both the instructors and the students with feedback and critique in such a format as GoReact

Pros

We have been using this program for several years in the Intepreter Training Program. It is ideal for students to upload their videos and demonstrate their skills for the teachers to grade and give real time feedback.

Cons

I cannot think of anything at this time. The program continues to evolve and give us a variey of ways to produce assignments and even tests.
