Structured Interview Plans

Effective interviews are direct, concise, and filled with substance. Greenhouse offers tools to ensure that interviews rarely get off track, and that employees who’ve been asked to interview potential hires don’t spend time focusing on the wrong topics.

Using Greenhouse, you can create structured interview plans that are repeatable, consistent, and focused on the topics most important to your organization. You can keep a record of which questions your interviewers should ask, and which order those questions should be asked in. This helps you more accurately compare candidates head-to-head.

Scorecards

One way that companies can quantify candidates is by asking interviewers to provide structured feedback after each interview. Greenhouse facilitates this by providing companies with integrated candidate scorecards.

Scorecards are broken up into a few main sections, allowing your interviewers to record things like their overall impressions of candidates, pros and cons, and strengths or weaknesses. A simple grading system instructs your interviewers to rate candidates on skills, traits, and qualifications. You can also add custom questions to your scorecards, and ask interviewers to provide their overall recommendations.

Reporting and Analytics

The data that interviewers provide on candidate scorecards is funneled by Greenhouse into a series of comprehensive reports. These reports help hiring managers make data-driven hiring decisions.

Looking at Greenhouse’s reports, you can better understand your candidates and measure innate qualities that would typically be hard to quantify. Pipeline reports enable you to see how your interview pipeline has changed over time. You can also track where top candidates are coming from, which is useful when researching which agencies, job boards, or referrers are providing the best ROI for your company.

Pipeline Management

Stalled hiring processes lead to candidate drop off. This is one of the reasons why pipelines are so important. With pipelines in place, both hiring managers and candidates stay informed of the next steps throughout the hiring process.

Greenhouse’s pipeline management tools send alerts whenever applications have been sitting in the same stage for too long. This ensures that top candidates never fall through the cracks. Greenhouse also sends automatic notifications when new applications are ready to review, and when decisions need to be made.

Pros

I like how easy it is to keep up with my candidates, I like that greenhouse is very customizable and that support responds so quickly with my requests. Greenhouse is very easy to use and takes allows me to see metrics very easily

- Restrictions on customizations: For instance, I'd like to create an additional "sourcing strategy" but am not able to so many candidate sources end up under the "other" bucket which leads to poor reporting on source of hire and ROI tracking for some recruiting initiatives

Recommendations to others considering Greenhouse

- Take the time to set up a well thought out interview plan (interview stages) that will be consistent across all departments hiring. Otherwise you will have very messy reports very quickly. - Take the time to work with hiring managers to create scorecards. - When first implementing Greenhouse, get the entire recruiting team involved and encourage the team to explore all facets. Before launching company wide, we all created test candidate profiles that we played with to try to find loopholes. It was also helpful to create test "hiring manager" or "interviewer" user accounts to have a better understanding of what our business partners would be able to see/do with the system.

Intuitive features and easy to process between steps Helps to ensure consistency between interviews, plans, and third party integrations for staff intake and hiring.

Cons

Only left with Resumes and not full details, notes, or other data your team may have created (Keep that in mind when spending time analyzing candidates and for legal/compliance) - Really consider how your team will use this, and if it is either a time saver or money maker for recruiting. Chances are, it's not - but it is convenient in one place.

With previous ATS a lot of stuff is still very manual, Greenhouse makes tracking candidates and communicating to candidates very simple.

Cons

We are only able to see emails and communication that we as the employees send out, but sometimes it would be beneficial to see the activity that the candidate responds back.

If you are looking for a system that is simple that takes minimal amount of time to be trained on, Greenhouse is for you. Greenhouse makes it easy for Recruiting teams to be more efficient with their time due to the fact that a lot of stuff is very automated with the click of a button. It also makes it very easy for Hiring Managers to stay engaged about candidate pipeline and where candidates are in the interview process.

Great insights for TA

Pros

Giving candidates the ability to provide availability quickly through an easy to use interface is also a huge plus as we have been doing this manually for many years which is very time intensive.

Cons

The pricing models require additional upgrades to get their best reporting solutions which of course is by design. Overall set up and communication initially was helpful but very time intensive as we try to ramp up our use of this tool.
