Performance Management

To encourage a culture of excellence in your organization, Halogen Software’s performance management module offers tools to make the appraisal process as quick and seamless as possible, all the while helping you cultivate a culture of ongoing coaching and feedback between managers and employees.

Halogen Performance allows team managers to track and manage employee performance, align their goals with the company’s objectives, and guide them in their career progression goals. The Halogen 360 Multirater feature makes it easy to gather performance feedback from direct reports, peers, partners, suppliers, customers, mentors, and consultants. Feedback can either be anonymous or named. Halogen 1:1 Exchange, on the other hand, is a coaching companion tool that helps managers discuss goals, plans, expectations, and progress with employees, not just at year-end but throughout the year.

Learning and Development

Performance management goes hand in hand with training and development. To align the performance of each employee with the company’s business goals, employees should possess the necessary skills to do their jobs according to predetermined standards. The Halogen Learning module is a learning management system (LMS) that allows you to plan and create the most suitable employee learning initiatives, as well as schedule, track, and gauge the success of your training programs.

Halogen Learning works in conjunction with other Halogen Software modules to address skills gaps. Features included in the module are an LMS dashboard, competency maps, certifications, status monitor, and email reminders. Employees are likewise assigned their own Halogen Software portal to help them manage their activities within the app, including training and development.

Succession and Leadership

No matter how promising the future of your business seems to be, succession planning cannot be taken for granted. The process identifies the company’s future leaders, future-proofing your business as a result. By keeping a pool of talents with the requisite skills to readily move up the ranks, skills shortage during unexpected job vacancies can quickly be addressed.

Halogen Software’s succession and leadership module allows organizations to build a deep bench of talents they can tap at will. As baby boomers leave the workforce and millennials take on more challenging leadership roles, the solution lets you tie your succession planning program with your organizational objectives, as well as retain high-value talents and develop those in need of help. Halogen Succession simplifies succession management in three steps: identify performing and nonperforming employees, build talent pools, and quickly fill job vacancies.

Compensation

While it’s true that employees are motivated to perform their best not just by monetary rewards, the fact remains that financial compensation help, as long as the bonuses and merit increases your employees receive are consistently aligned with their actual performance and the value they provide to the company.

Halogen Compensation helps organizations easily link compensation to performance through automated compensation workflows and calculations. This ensures staying within budget allocations, plus accountability, transparency, and objectivity among managers who recommend compensation increases. Halogen Compensation also provides a centralized portal for C-level executives to keep track of compensation information, and monitor and control the compensation expenses of team managers.

Recruiting and Onboarding

Acquiring top talent in a competitive recruitment landscape is no easy feat. Hiring the wrong people can open up the company to risks and financial losses, and a difficult onboarding process can negatively affect new hires’ view of your organization. Aside from keeping all recruitment records in a cloud-based hub, Halogen Talent Acquisition, Halogen Software’s proprietary applicant tracking system, allows you to configure your own recruitment workflow rules to reflect your talent strategy.

Screening procedures that can be added to your workflows are prescreens, phone screens, interviews, reviews, background checks, assessments that include third-party tools, offers, and other custom activities. Auto-notifications can be set up to immediately inform hiring personnel of next-step tasks, and requisition templates available in the Halogen Job Description Builder can be configured to suit your needs. Job postings can directly be published to your company’s career page.

It's possible to assign HR Reps to each employee, but the purpose of this is limited to just filtering the employee base in reports, it doesn't really allow HR Reps to go in there and help facilitate with their clients.

We use the Performance Management module of Halogen, and it's been a hugely successful upgrade from our previous, paper-based system.

Pros

Encourages yearlong engagement with performance management through editable goals and supervisor/employee relationships.

Cons

I wish the coding for forms was a little less confusing. Some of the buttons for that (and the processes themselves, only not quite as much for those) are counterintuitive and require more try-it-and-see than I'd like.

Using Halogen In the Public Sector

Our old performance management system was archaic and very had very bulky maintenance for Human Resources.

Pros

Feedback to document employees performance year long, not just was evaluation time.

Cons

Has proven to have some limitations for our law enforcement agency. Building out competencies and forms was very labor intensive because there was not a variety of pre-built law enforcement competencies (officer safety etc.). That said, some of the competencies in the Halogen Library were able to be used after being manipulated.

I like the software as it makes it easy to use to track what employees need to have done as well as what I have to do for each employee but it would be nicer if there weren't so many back and forth steps between the employee and manager before something is signed off on.

The software is pretty easy to use most of the time and I like that because I had never used this software before working at my current job.

There are times when you are trying to figure something out, click the wrong button, or an employee is not assigned to you that can make the software difficult to use as you want it to do something that it won't do.

The major issue I had with the software was lack of appropriate reporting - there was not a built-in report for simple things I wanted to see, and I have not been able to set up a report for all managers to use to give them data on their employees.

Cannot believe people say it is easier to use than some other products.

The only good thing I can say is that this year it stopped aborting when you hit "go back" in your browser.

So confusing data gets lost, they get frustrated, dread when goal reviews and performance reviews come due.
