Pros

The ability for employees to swap shifts easily. The mobile app makes it accessible for employees.

Cons

So when you run reports for payroll and the person doing payroll does not realize this, you will end up paying overtime to employees who have not worked a 40 hour week.

Integration with our POS (sales and labor reporting), ease of use for managers and employees, wide variety of reporting, writing schedules takes no time at all

Cons

Messaging function (email notifications don't include what the actual message is), no longer have the ability to manually sync new employees from POS

I love hot schedules and I love even more that they have a mobile app, its a life saver!

Pros

We can send information at the touch of a button and they're able to manage their schedule and alert us of issues.

Cons

I would make it easier to make daily notes to alert other management when events are happening so they can adjust staffing.

I enjoy using HotSchedules, it just constantly lags and takes its time (I'm assuming because we have so many employees), but overall it's helpful in communicating with staff.

Pros

Updates info quickly Notifies you of activity while you were away All reports you can run

Cons

It's slow and lags Cannot copy a schedule from one week to the next Cannot attach a file to messages

Disappointed with HotSchedules

Basically as soon as I signed the contract they have my money and didn't care if we were not happy with the product. The UI is outdated and cumbersome, with options tucked away in various places in the program that were not readily apparent.

Pros

Management "Red Book" log Logging of Employee and Store incidents/issues.

Cons

Cumbersome and non-intuitive UI Poor employee sharing between locations Weather Widget did not function in Canada as promised Training/Learning Center feature was not included in cost of Hotschedules as promised.

Internal communications and schedule notifications to a distributed workforce.

Pros

Not only can you input the schedules you need covered to receive optimization suggestions, but once you post the schedules, you don't have to track down your staff to inform them of their schedules.

Cons

When I utilizied Hotschedules my employees were not able to input one-off requests or identify preferred shifts, limiting the efficacy of the schedule optimization features.

I have worked in the restaurant industry and this allows for easy scheduling and payroll management for my employees and it's simple to use.

Cons

There's a bit of a learning curve associated with hot schedules because of the different options but it's great regardless.

scheduling is great overall (see cons), ability to communicate with the staff, ability to track performance, ability to communicate to mgrs and set follow ups and to do's, ability to build and use digital walk through's.

Cons

inability to customize reports for specific users inability to combine forecasted labor %s based on grouped job codes or inability to build a schedule accurately to %'s based on that mobile capabilities are less than ideal when compared to using a larger format i.e. iPad or computer

What we love most about this software is the ease of use for employees and management.

The overlap of shifts. Employees cannot pickup a shift if their time is overlapped with a shift they wish to pick up.

This software is easy to use and a great way to communicate.

The largest benefit was time management.

Pros

We use it to document all incidents good and bad on employees, so when an evaluation comes around you have all that information at your fingertips.

Cons

My biggest complaint is that part of the expense for the is put on the employee. I know it's very little but some employees don't have a bank account or credit card and have trouble making the purchase.

Beneficial how we can track employee hours and easily send notices to all employees at once, or based on employee job title.

Pros

It makes scheduling a great number of employees all with different availability easy since they can set their own availability and put in time off requests on their own.

Cons

The app can crash sometimes, and can be expensive for some. Some of the features can be overwhelming and lead to useful features getting ignored.

Great way to manage staff schedules with ease

Was part of a team that used HotSchedules for shift management.

Pros

Managers can set certain rules, but within those rules employees can handle it on their own.

Cons

It was not mobile friendly, and didn't sync well with email and google calendar.

The user friendly interface was not only a bonus for the user on the employee end but also for me as the administrator.

It would be nice if the team was able to post pics from the mobile app so we can get real time photos and videos that could later be turned into training material
