It lets me see my day to day Labor percent and the actual cost with breaks of how much I will be paying my employees each week. I can better watch labor and adjust accordingly. The experience is great. I tried a few different programs and nothing compares to the simplicity, the easy navigation and the information it supplies to better control your costs. Not to mention my employees love it.
The software is super easy to navigate and its all very basic to learn. You can control your costs and see your weekly world all right on the program. I recently opened up a store and the Owner wanted me to use a different program and it is a nightmare compared to the simplicity yet efficiently of Opensimsim. Opensim sim does all the work for you.
Nothing so far. I had trouble and was a little frustrated trying to figure out how to give employees individual pay, but the OpenSimSim staff walked me thru it and now it makes complete sense. They were very patient and tried different things to show me how it worked. I know I was not the easiest person at the time to work with but they helped me figure it out and now that I understand how to enter it. It is awesome.

Initially the customer support was eager & helpful. It was a little bit frustrating to have to deal with multiple people (I kept being told that my support "person" was no longer with the company). With that said, I still found everyone to be knowledgeable and friendly. Luckily I have been able to troubleshoot most problems myself, which is good because I have found the callback time to not be especially fast with the basic package.
Cost. For the features it offered, it seemed to be a good value and they didn't insist I use their credit card processor. My staff hasn't had really any difficulty using the program. It seems very straightforward.
Not that I have a lot of experience with this type of software but setting up some of the till-order details seemed like it could be more stream-lined. I know it is not specifically designed for restaurants but it would be great if it included more sub category options instead of having lots of multiple choice product group. Also, being able to have a negative charge option would be helpful when somebody want to remove an item from the meal.

We tried a variety of timeclock software, and Opensimsim was one of the less expensive versions out there for the features. It does the job adequately, but as we add more staff, the shortcomings may become too much of a burden.
Making a Schedule is very easy, especially on the following week as you just have to 'tweak' it. The employees like how easy it is to request time off. The timeclock works on Kindles, so a Timeclock kiosk is very inexpensive and even works during a power outage.
You need to play by their rules, and their is very little personalization possible (for example we prefer to schedule in 2 week sets, but you are forced into a single week at a time) It should be able to export directly into Quickbooks, but we have to manually enter the times There should be a section for entering each employee's availability so you don't schedule them outside of their available hours. This is a HUGE oversight.

Opensimsim saves us mass emailing our staff, then receiving numerous emails to confirm if they can work. Therefore making the process alot simpler and easier. The staff also find it great because they can look in one place rather than having to find their emails. It has definitely made life simpler, easier and quicker.
If is easy to use, quick to put shifts on and for staff to select them. Since implementing it has definitely sped up the process of staff g jobs.
Would love to introduce the time management aspect of the software to save staff having to sign a form. However because you have to pay for each user and we have 88 that don't work all the time. It is not a cost effective option for us. If there was a monthly set fee that we could pay for the option that would be far better.

One of the best scheduling tools I have used in a long time and its absolutely free! so Please keep it that way. You can set up as many work places on OpenSimSim and manage them from one place.
Live scheduling tool, any changes is immediately sent to the relevant people. Team can book time off on the software. There is an app for everyone to use. Its simple and not bulky. Gives you a breakdown of cost per day. You can have offsite working.
Not having the ability to talk to SAP Payroll. Not having the ability to input other breaks in a shift (paid and unpaid) you can only put one break in.

I took over as operations supervisor of my company with added responsibility of scheduling. The old paper/pencil calendar on the wall was not working out too well under previous administration. The very first order of business was to find a program that was affordable and done the job. I found this free app and gave it a try and WOW. I am still to this day amazed that we have so much functionality and features for free. Opensimsim has transformed how we schedule and interact with our employees. I hope this company continues to grow and offer this app to us, I would truly be lost without it.
I love that it is free. I love that whenever I have had an issue, support is always very helpful. Being able to post opportunities and send messages through the app is great.
There are only a few things that I would like to see different with the software. I would like to see push notifications of opportunities. Be able to change the default settings of who can apply, because network only works better for me by default than invite only.

Overall it's great to use, cost effective and easily manageable. Doesn't promise you the earth and give you a pot!
GPS function, change shifts on the go, great messaging, easy shift allocation as SimSim learns over time with suggestions. Customer service is very good with online chat, and tech desk resolution if issue not resolved in chat.
Can't enter regular shifts as recurring. So we have to continue with Jorte Calendar to keep regularity of shifts (daily, weekly, bi weekly, 4 weekly, monthly etc...). Some updates can be frustrating as you have to 'find out yourself' while using.

i definitely am happy with the labor cost that is provided with each schedule. the format is easy to use.
i love that i can select how much the different job positions get paid so i can see how much the company will be spending on labor each week. it makes it incredibly easy to see where i can cut down on labor to make our percentage lower.
i wish that i could actually make the schedule on my phone, instead of only being able to edit it.

This is a very easy to use product.
I like the price, because we are a non-profit organization with about 20 volunteers. I needed something that would keep track of everyone and with your product I can see the schedule on my phone or computer. It is very handy.
I'd like to be able to schedule people from my phone.

For being a cheap/free program it does the job and the development team seems to be active in improving the software. OpenSimSim is unintuitive and awkward but getting better.
I like the ability to adjust a single day of availability and the ease of communication with the scheduling supervisor for things like time off requests. There are a lot of functions for this software, such as seeing the schedule of the whole team for the week.
The feature access is unintuitive and difficult to work with. An example of this: the only way to see the full team schedule is to open the mobile version and rotate into landscape view. There are some features you can only use on mobile and some you can only use on desktop browser.

This app has been a pleasant surprise. It has taken a while to get used to the software, but the customer service is amazing! Their rep is easy to contact for any help you may need. The features I like most are the ability for staff members to input their schedule availability and time off requests, the online software and matching app, the ability to see who's viewed their schedules, and the ability for staff members to drop or swap shifts easily. Updates and kink fixes are done regularly and the software just keeps getting better. Worth the time it takes to learn the new system!!
Has all of the features I was looking for!
My staff has had a bit of a hard time picking up on how to use it. Would love to see them sent a link with an overview of the software when they're invited to join your organization in the app.

I have not been able to do a cost per room for my department. Food and Beverage uses it for lots of things they report on. I still do a second schedule that I print and create from. Easier to work from excel for me.
it is great tool for those who do not work every day. If someone calls out sick, I can look from home to see who I can call in to cover. Have access to schedule even if I am out of town.
allowing new staff to get access easy. we have had several phones that will not take passwords, will not allow viewing for manager access. I do not like how it prints the schedule. I use a color, shift specific lay out. Not user friendly if you have never used it before as a manager. Training was not helpful on line. needed someone to show me.

For the price (free), this is the very best scheduling software we've tried. What impacted us the most was the ease of use, we had a 10 minute lesson and we were using the software. Another wonderful thing about this software is that they're constantly upgrading the software and they're very interested in our input on how to improve it
Ease of use, constantly upgraded, price, GUI

My small team needed a better option for rostering. I tried many programs but my boss would not cover the cost. This came along and saved me. It simplifies rosters, emails thwm to staff and saves me a great amount of time, whixh is crucial in my industry.
It's free! It does lack a few features that paid software has but for the price, this is an excellent bit of kit.
Some of the options are a bit limited. Idlike to be able to xolour shifts and title days off. Takes patience to get past user errors

This has helped us find a free option for a smaller department at our school with our low budget.
I love the interface and ease of creating the same schedule for each week. It is easy to add individuals to the team and connect them to the app/website. I also really enjoy that there is an option to add breaks in the shift of individuals.
The only drawback is having a single individual's schedule be able to repeat rather than the entire workbook for all the scheduled employees, since sometimes 1-3 peopple may change their schedule in the semester.

Overall, you're not going to find a better free option out there, and when you do upgrade, it's not an absurd price.
It's super easy to use and implement. It is fairly customizable. I think it will have great potential later if we choose to integrate our payroll software.
There are some big missing features, like the ability to see draft (unpublished) shifts from a mobile device, for one. Hopefully, they implement the features that are simple to do sooner than later.

Scheduling a ever changing seasonal staff. Initial setup took awhile but a great asset when finished especially having their contact phone numbers in their. Keeping track of time offs notifications and memos hard. I mis-schedule often for this reason.
Ease of use, free cost. Breakdown of workers by department. Live chat is great.
Slow loading times, ability for workers to block schedule. Odd bugs that pop up in the program.

Quick and easy to find out pay for staff
I enjoy how easy it is to get staff to take and give up shifts and communicate through the app
Would be nice to change the start and end times of the weeks to adjust for different pay periods. We originally had Friday as the end of payroll but had to shift to Sunday to use the app without a lot of extra work.

Opensimsim is a great product for the price. It is very functional and allows for a lot of customization for your work environment.

We needed a simple low-cost solution for scheduling, this app does most of what we need, and in a crowded field of contenders, does the job.
Allows all employees to see shifts, simple app interface
Inability to print directly from app (export to Excel), does not allow supervisors to input requested "days off" into employee schedules
