Perform & Reward Features In Depth

Setting Goals

Perform & Reward for Small Business offers a way for businesses to define goals and provide incentives to employees for reaching certain milestones or achievements. One of the first thing that managers should do when setting up their Perform & Reward for Small Business accounts is to draw up goals for members of their teams.

Using the Goal Wizard, you can write your own objectives with Perform & Reward. You also have the option of using the SMART goals library, which contains more than 500 pre-written goals, along with Cascade Goals to track the progress of you and your team. All pre-written goals are categorized by department and position.

Reviewing Reports

Reports and dashboards give Perform & Reward users a broad view of how their employees are performing at any given time. Managers have the option to review their teams as a whole, or filter down and check out the status of individual staffers. Perform & Reward also generates internal process reports for managers.

Review the reports that Perform & Reward generates in order to monitor your team goal setting, status, and alignments. You can also pinpoint competency strengths and weaknesses within your team, which is a useful step to take before setting future goals or allocating new rewards.

Performance Reviews

Individual performance reviews are generated based on how employees are performing against their stated goals. Using Perform & Reward, managers can provide the type of specific feedback that motivates employees to work harder and take their jobs more seriously.

Perform & Reward allows you to run competency assessments for your team, and configure review forms based on your company’s individual needs. Based on the information that Perform & Reward provides—along with advanced features like the “Writing Assistant” and “Team Rater", you’ll be able to complete your employee reviews and evaluations in very little time. You can also setup custom workflows.

Employee Profiles

One of the key components to Perform & Reward’s platform is the searchable talent inventory, which contains profiles for each employee working at a company. These profiles include information about employees’ professional skills, personal backgrounds, experiences, and interests, as well as individual certifications and awards.

These serve as a great tool for recognizing contributions and promoting team collaboration. Employees can “badge” each other to recognize outstanding work. Meanwhile, you can review profiles when making decisions regarding promotions or when assigning staffers to new projects, clients, or tasks.

Currently, my organization is running into a road block integrating SAP SuccessFactors Learning with CEB Metrics That Matter.

Pros

I like most that SAP SuccessFactors Learning is comprehensive in its ability to manage the employee training cycle.

Cons

I like least that SAP SuccessFactors Learning is limited in its ability to report on evaluation learning data. Reports consist of either a pdf or .csv file and often fail if the file is too large or takes too long to run.

As always, compare your options but don't be afraid of price tags. Picking a system that will be useful and accepted by your organization will come at a premium price. However, you'll lose credibility if you go with a less quality system that isn't accepted.

I love the succession planning tool, how you can get feedback through performance management, as well as the ease of reporting.

I recommend looking at all the features of SuccessFactors and seeing if you can consolidate your management process into this system. If there are any developers currently reading this, I would suggest integrating your services with a Google email platform, because our company currently uses Google and refers to SuccessFactors for tracking purposes.
