Assigning Course Training

Assigning, managing, and tracking course training is a major focus of Torch LMS. System administrators have the ability to assign required training to individual employees or larger groups of users. In addition to assigning specific training activities, administrators also have the option to add course sequencing, as well.

Take full control over the training that your employees receive by selecting the order in which they can complete the assigned training activities. Not only can you setup course sequencing with Torch LMS, but you can also add course equivalents. For example, you might give new employees the option of completing a training assignment by watching a video or completing a classroom version of the training.

Creating Learning Programs

The system training catalog that Torch LM provides includes many different types of training, including classroom, virtual, web-based, assessments, videos, audio, documents, and more. Administrators have the option to combine classroom and web-based requirements. They can also use assessment tools for testing and surveys (known as “activities”) to evaluate their employees.

Click on the Activities module to add new activities to your training. You can choose from activity types like grouped, video, SCORM, PowerPoint, tasks, surveys, quizzes, and audio, to name just a few of the many options available. Each individual activity will have a unique ID, with the ability to filter by name or creation date.

Automating Training

Torch LMS is built for efficiency and ease-of-use. One of the ways that the platform provides key capabilities for both administrators and learners is by automating as many tasks as possible. Automation tools remove extra steps from the e-learning process.

Cut down on the work involved in managing your learning management system by setting up automation rules. You can create automated email alerts that notify employees when training due dates are nearing, or when their course status has been changed from “waiting list” to “enrolled.” Course completion certificates can be automated and customized, as well.

Reporting & Analytics

A big component in any learning management solution is the reporting and analytics module. Reporting is a principle focus with Torch LMS. The approach that Torch LMS takes is to give users, managers, and administrators a visual display of everything they need to see when they need to see it.

Your Torch LMS dashboard is completely customizable, allowing you to hone in on the analytics that matter most to your specific organization. Track the progress of groups of users or individual employees, and instantly use filtering tools see which learners are still labeled as “in progress” in any training activity. Promethus TORCH LMS Burns it up!

Our regional gas utility of 1500+ employees recently upgraded to Torch Enterprise from Promethus Development.

Pros

Upload training, assign training, track training, nag users who haven't done their training and automatically keep up to date state and federal mandated records.

Cons

The reporting could be a little more robust and easier, but once you figure it out you can get pretty much everything you're hoping for.

There's about 100,000 LMS's out there. 80% of them are questionable. Torch Enterprise came in at a good price point with a solid product. Check it out to see if it would work for you.

Great LMS that gets it!

It's sufficiently customizable, scalable, and I look forward to the regular enhancements that make it better all the time.

Pros

- Fast searching/filtering - Very easy/fast to credit learners with multiple activities (great for an organization that conducts and needs to document lots of instructor-led activities) - Very robust options for automation (assigning specific activities, etc

Cons

Not a big deal for those comfortable with Excel, but if exported to .xls or another format with some formatability would be nice.

Training game changer

We're very pleased with TorchLMS' usability in delivering quality training to even our least tech savvy employees. We tried it and didn't find much use for it

It was decent at best for document and learning management for our HR team

Pros

It gave us the ability to implement a Single-Sign-On system so we could use our network logins to access the webpage

Cons

It didn't really have much use for the users though. We would just open the site, and "sign" that we went over some material that didn't require us to actually do anything with it.

Could be so much better

We moved from Torch to another LMS provider with whom we've been now for a good two years. It was a big decision and we ended up spending much more with the new provider. At their worst, however, they're better than Torch.

Pros

It is relatively easy to operate in.

Cons

It's clunky within the system sometimes and the reporting is lackluster at best.

OK product, visually appealing for the user, not great out of the box.

The price compared to many others we reviewed is great. I think you get what you pay for with this product and company. They are helpful to fix the problems, the problem is that there are issues that come up on a regular basis.

Pros

From an admin standpoint, the help feature is a nice assistant if you forget how to set up something.

Cons

The Torch product performs really inconsistently for users and admins, depending on roll outs of code and various other changes on the back end. We've had lots of issues out of the box with features that were promised. My company had a unique org structure, so this may be difficult to change on the back end. That being said, it seems like the org structure logic is set a certain way and difficult to change. This was one area that was explained before signing a contract. We were assured this wouldn't be a problem, but it has been an underlying issue in a lot of things we want developed or created.
