Moving to Altium Designer as a New User

Reviewed 2 years ago
Pros

Sharing projects and libraries online with colleagues is very useful. It speeds up the design process as commonly used parts are immediately available for new projects.

Cons

Setting up shared libraries was initially difficult, and there are numerous ways to perform similar actions. There is a steep learning curve for new users coming from different software.

Need a PCB and have time ? Get Altium

Reviewed 4 years ago

I needed to develop a board to connect sensors to a microprocessor ; Not familiar with everything else, I tried and loved it !

Pros

Altium is a very good tool to develop PCB or PCA ; It takes time to get used to it, but once you get pass that, you can defined every little parameters to have the PCA/PCB you want/need for your application

Cons

It is pricey and need to pay every year ; it is not a license where you buy it once, you have it ; As you can parameters everything, it is overwhelming sometime
