Pros

WOW, all that I can say is that probably this is the most important software to make blueprints in the world.
The AutoCAD is very good to be used for many industries like construction and industrial / manufacturing process as well, good for beginners and professional level as well.
I use this program all of the time because their Features are awesome powerful tool and easy for professional and beginners.

Pros

It is an amazing tool to pass the knowledge of the device to the technical personal. You can stablish mounting locations, you can clarify where have to be installed a device.
Eplan is very robust and neat electrical design software and also the eplan envirenment is so helpful as the digital twin it makes cost estimationt very easy and reduce site modification.
Eplan NL was very helpful when downgrading from Professional to Select version, to save money on yearly costs. Used the PLC integration with Siemens Step7 in the past and that worked very well.

Cons

The biggest disadvantage of AutoCAD is that it comes with a lot of problems, which is to be expected from a tool that can do so much. It seems reasonable to me.
Sometimes the user interface becomes annoying, file can get very big and may crash the computer, drawings can get corrupt.
It is frustrating when in the AutoCAD updates over the years that the interface has changed so much that it makes it hard to adjust and find things.

Cons

The after service is horrific with little to no answers. Sloppy attitudes towards the client.
There does not seem to be a standard for the symbols regarding size and functions. All symbols seem to be based on IEC which does not work well for NFPA projects.
Some macros are damaged, and many others are not easy to find. I do not see any more factors against him.

My experience on AutoCAD

Reviewed 2 years ago

My experience on AutoCAD is good compare to eplan plane software.

Pros

Software is easy to use . Beginner learn quickly that software. Software tools are easy to find. All tools available that is quite good. Work space is large because of that easy in drawing.

Cons

Project saving system is good. Tools finding is better than they so on display. Some time system are lagg that was issue when I used AutoCAD 6 to 7 hour's in day.

Best Drawing Application

Reviewed 4 years ago

I am totally satisfied with this software. I used to use AutoCAD for checking my project drawings.

Pros

Easy to set a measurement scale to draw any civil, architectural, electric and interior design can be made here perfectly

Cons

There is nothing I find which may dislike by me

AutoCAD

Best drawing and drafting tool for all purposes

Reviewed 2 years ago
Pros

Excellent product for designing anything we require, including homes, mechanical parts, ducts, civil plans, electric designs, etc. Despite being easy to use, it is incredibly beneficial. There is a lot of connectivity between Autocad and other programs that my company uses.

Cons

Due to the fact that this software is 2-D as it is a very arduous task to visualize a section view of any sophisticated ductwork and pipings.

AutoCAD

the software allows to show design criteria of civil engineering of projects construction

Reviewed 6 years ago

My job it's based on this software because I'm a civil engineer and I'm a project manager for my own engineering firm. It's a very large software and every day I'm learning from it. I'm not use every command in the list of the software but I keep searching the best way to achieve the drawings and complete my goals on every project.

Pros

There' re three thing I like about the software, the built in database of electric installations, architecture standards and pre elaborated blocks, the ease of adapting more personalized formats and the possibility of generating views in three dimensions (3D) with their rendering finished of a project

Cons

Sometimes I hate the failure of the measurement system, that is not always keep the format as I like and the failure of memory that close suddenly the software, even if I don't have anything else open

Good Potential, But Obnoxiously Bad Documentation and User Interface

Reviewed 2 years ago

To be honest, if I wasn't required to use this software for my job, I would NEVER use EPLAN and would rather learn how to use AutoCAD for electrical designing. That is how poor my experience has been.

Pros

There is not much positive I can say about this software, other than that it has potential.

Cons

To put it bluntly, the documentation of this software is atrocious. I've seen better documentation from college students. As a new user, I would expect clear documentation for simple processes, like changing T-Nodes into Daisy Chain connections, how to incorporate crossover connections to clear up wires crossing, or how to smart connect with devices that don't align neatly with the grid. There is no documentation for simple things like this, and it is like they expect you to know everything about the software from the get go. On top of the lack of documentation, the navigation of the user interface is simply not user friendly. Whether it be creating parts, importing parts, or changing settings, the application is needlessly complicated to navigate.

Vastly increased productivity

Reviewed 4 years ago

We've seen improvements in time-to-produce schematics.

Pros

My first engineer who we got using ePLAN came from a company with exclusively used AutoCAD Electrical. Within a couple of months, the engineer feels they can work 2-3x faster in ePLAN, access to the parts portal is a massive saving for us, as new products are generally available from the parts portal and do not require us to create a new intelliegent block.

Cons

It feels like there are a lot of "options" which come at a great cost. Full migration to use ePLAN is going to take us multiple years due to the software investment.

Vendor response

Thanks for taking the time to share your positive experience with EPLAN. It is certainly our intention to streamline processes and save you time and resources. We look forward to continuing to provide you with a successful customer experience.
