i am not sure that autocad is still essential. i have been studying architecture for 7 years, and i use it in every single projects! so yes for me it is! but newer generation are getting used to draw directly on alternatives that can be more precise, like revit. so autocad is very practical for drawing detailed and precise buildings, and the 3d drawing in it can also be great! bet when it goes in virtual and experimental architecture, other software will be a better option, and autodesk have many choices! so i recommend autocad! and i see the best way of knowing if it fits your workflow is to try it for a while and to experiment seriously with it.
this software is simple to use, can be really fast when we get used to it, very user friendly and the tools are easy to use and to understand for everyone, and it have so many option to organize the drawing, to coordinate between many different drawings, even if they are located in different files.
this software is more dedicated for angular drawings, and once you start drawing curves, it can be very annoying and lose precision very easily. the hatches will not response correctly, as well as the trim and extend tools. so it will be necessary to work with splines, which is not the best and fastest option for every cases.

It allows me to digitize plans quickly and safely, I can identify each element on the plane by creating its attributes individually. I can also associate the information with an existing database. Your final product is generally compatible with other CAD programs. For the cartographic production it is excellent, since I can easily manipulate all the symbols and regroup them on the map individually....
It takes a lot of memory on the computer for processing. The acquisition of the license is very expensive. It is portable to us. High performance computers are required to work comfortably. It does not allow the georeferencing of satellite images. I think the hatch feature needs some tweaking. Often times the program won't hatch, thinking my lines don't meet up when in fact they do. Sometimes the dimension lines can interfere with the hatch reading the lines correctly.

I use this software to create and design realistic and logical buildings for 3D games and even for Comic Creation. I make use of this because I want the best experiences in my work and I find it easier to work out the logic of something by having it exist in some form. AutoCAD is paid for but it is free for students which helped me out for a while. Overall you can make really professional designs using AutoCAD because it is an a amazing software.
AutoCAD is one of the best technical design software out there. It's very popular among architects but I actually make use of it as a Game Designer. AutoCAD has many tools making building layout designs very simple. The newer Trace tool allows me to add notes on possible iterations while not changing my design. The feature I love most of AutoCAD is their mobile app and web app. With AutoCAD Drive I am able to upload my work and can then work on it with my phone in any spare time I find or from remote locations.
AutoCAD is paid and can be expensive. They offer training courses which as also expensive. The software can also be confusing and difficult to learn how to work. It's very complex software with complex UI's.

AutoCAD allows me to create detailed and accurate 2D and 3D designs for my engineering; It helps solve problems related to conceptualizing, visualizing, and communicating design ideas, facilitating efficient collaboration and decision-making. AutoCAD empowers me to visualize and communicate my design ideas effectively.
AutoCAD provides powerful tools for creating and editing drawings. the features a well-designed and intuitive user interface. The ribbon interface, contextual menus, and customizable tool palettes provide easy access to commands and features, making it easier for users to navigate the software and find the tools they need. that product provides import and export functionalities for various file formats. i can import data from sources like point clouds, GIS data, or other CAD software into AutoCAD for further design integration. Similarly, i can export AutoCAD drawings to different formats for use in other software or for sharing purposes
While AutoCAD allows for some level of interface customization, users have expressed a desire for more flexibility in customizing toolbars, menus, and workspace layouts. Providing more options for personalized interface configurations could further enhance user productivity and workflow efficiency. that product as drawings and projects become more complex and larger in scale, users may encounter challenges related to file management, performance, and handling intricate design elements; If my business already follows established design standards or industry-specific protocols, integrating AutoCAD into my existing processes may be easier.

I have known AutoCAD since my first year of architecture, and 8 years later, despite all the new programs that have come out, I still use it in my day to day.
The best thing about AutoCAD is without a doubt its simplicity, it's such an intuitive program that you can perfectly learn it and perfect it in a self-taught way. Until today, a design/construction professional should or should use AutoCAD: is the classic of classics.
The famous "Fatal Error" that make you lose hours of work, is always a headache.

I am a mechanical engineer who has used Autocad since its version 10, it is the drawing software par excellence and although many of the drawings I currently make in other software such as Autocad Plant 3D or Autodesk Inventor, I always finish the last details of the plan in Autocad, there are details that must be done in this software to have the desired result.
Autocad is the base software for computer drawing, although there are other softwares based on BIM, the drawings are generally are required in dwg files. Autocad is a very versatile program, since as it is not oriented to a particular industry, it can be used for architecture, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, etc., it is like having a drawing board, it is a basic tool but Very powerful.
Although AutoCAD is very versatile software, this makes it very slow for large projects, where BIM-type software is preferable. Autocad is quite old software and it maintains certain functions and commands that today are no longer so useful, in more than 30 years these functions have been maintained that can be very comfortable for senior draftsmen, but they are a headache for new ones.

I use this software for drafting and every drawing need a draft. Another feature is to import file and this file get a picture and trace out that picture and drawing. I have seen it used for things like creating blueprints for buildings, bridges and computer chips to name a few. AutoCAD is 2D and 3D computer aided drafting software application and this makes it easy sometimes I will edit with pencil after doing a print.

I really dont have much bad to say about Autocad as the application has gotten better over time the only thing I would just say is the performance and compatibility with RAM and the memory you need free on your computer. Also, the updates from Autodesk are a little tedious and can slow down your performance but you then only need to downgrade your service packs and problem fixed

Looking at the big picture, It is one of the best tools in 2D & 3D modelling. It is quite complex to learn in the beginning but it is worth to learn as a civil Engineer working in the industry.
Autocad includes every essential tool for a comprehensive design. Layering system of this software is invaluable for many reasons that is helps the designer to add every feature to the design without any complexity. Scaling part is also very much user friendly. When it comes to the rendering, It is pretty much attractive since it includes more materials, shadows, reflections and lighting effects. It is possible to keep tracking of number of designs at once to avoid conflicts of the design.
When it comes to very complex big designs, AutoCad needs a powerful ram to work smoothly. Rendering with AutoCad gives a better visualizationn but some additional softwares may be needed for high quality renderings.

I've used AutoCAD for over 30 years. It's the CAD tool of choice to learn and use in the Architectural industry.
I like the most about AutoCAD is that the program is 100% customizable. End user can change the user interface and build custom apps using AutoLISP / Visual Lisp or .NET to aid in missing features/commands.
I like least about AutoCAD is that the end user has to consistently use the program otherwise it's very easy to forget all the many command functions provided.

It is considered one of the basics of engaging in the engineering field for any fresh graduate engineer, which makes the work easier and completed as quickly as possible with this application.
AutoCAD is considered the simplest and easiest application for use in the engineering field in all forms. It is possible to create two-dimensional and three-dimensional layouts in the fastest time and make any modification to them in the least time and with ease. And the application can be used with any of the other applications and linking between them simply and most importantly is providing a free version for students that can be downloaded. There are continuous updates to the application and more than one version to suit all requirements, so it is an uncomplicated program.
Some unexpected errors occur suddenly. There is a problem of not having all the fonts available when downloading the program and the need to download other fonts separately in order to open some layouts, especially for Arabic fonts. Sometimes the application is slow when you open more than one layout at the same time and it gets stuck.

We use AutoCAD in my organization for a variety of uses , but mainly used for creating design prototypes for aspects of our construction projects. The most important benefit of Autocad for me, is that it helps us to identify potential design problems and fault lines. Being able to identify design faults at the prototype level as against during actual construction , saves us a lot of time and money.
I like Autocads architectural toolset. This toolset offers me all of the right add-ons to complete my design projects faster . Autocad's architectural toolset comes with an helpful library of architectural components, that includes multi-level blocks and enables the automatic generation of elevations , sections , ceiling grids etc when drafting my designs.
Although Autocad gives me access to the shared view feature, through which i am able to share specific views of diagrams with team mates . There is no provision for more than one user to work on a design at the same time. For me, this is a major drawback of the Autocad software , which maybe wasn't an issue even five years ago but is now very necessary in the present time.

It's the base of designing firms in automotive industries. It saves time let users get a detailed bill of material reports, do stress analysis by deploying 3rd party apps. Easy to learn and convenient user interface.
It's in of the most adaptive software across manufacturing companies in automotive industry. It's integrated sub softwares and provision to use 3rd party handy tools make this more productive. It's Precise dimensions evaluation and ability to export towards CNC is a great feature.
It requires a very high resourceful computer while designing integrated parts. I would suggest to Autocad company to put some efforts to make this software a bit lighter to avoid Force restart or software hang. Although Autocad offers online rendering services but it cost you too much.

AutoCAD is a program that has provided me with many calculations such as: angles, areas, distances, among others. It has helped me to put many proposals for the moment. And more tools needed in my work environment.
AutoCAD is a software of world reference in the design of projects for the area of civil and other engineering, allows the development of transport, urban and environmental projects in a simple and efficient way. With AutoCAD you can cover the necessary aspects for the works framed within projects of Civil Engineering and Topography. With this software I have been able to make proposals with any of the requirements required in my work. It brings many functions that facilitate the collection of data such as: area, volume, distance, among others.
I believe that this software has only one disadvantage for those who draw attention to the fact that when drawing you must be doing actions in a repetitive way. It will be action that you have to be willing to perform several times to complete the drawings. Now, another disadvantage is that the user does not know all the tools and does not reach to develop the whole program.

I'm integrating AutoCAD with a tools management system (TDM Systems), some preset machines (Zoller and Kelch) and Siemens CAD/CAM environment (NX12, Teamcenter).
It's so easy to start working with AutoCAD (comparing with other CAD softwares, like TopSolid and NX). AutoCAD is so flexible, easily adaptable in many different environments (Zoller and Kelch preset machines, TDM Systems, etc.).
Compared to other CAD softwares, it fails on automation issues (for example, creating automatic views) and on time needed to rewiew the technical drawing. In many cases AutoCAD is expensive, we need to evaluate well where to use and save up license numbers.

As an advertising agency, We use AutoCAD mostly to create concepts of new products for our clients to study the feasibility of bringing them to the market. Generally, our clients perceive the designs to be on the accurate side. The process of managing the design from start to finish is highly streamlined in terms of assigning roles and quality control.
The most important feature for us using AutoCAD is the high precision and detailed approach to making concepts and models for potential products to pitch to our clients. Even though we don't use this software as close to its full potential, it helped us convey ideas into realistic 3D models instead of pitching them in the form of words.
I think the number one con for our particular use is the learning curve. We always needed 3rd party freelancers to assist with the projects. I think they can perhaps create a light version that requires less engineering knowledge and that has more features to assist with designs. Also, it can be hardware-demanding when dealing with rendering a complex design.

I like the fact that the software is well integrated. It allows all the teams to collaborate and coordinate the project very efficiently. It reduces errors before the project is completed.
If your computer doesn't have good graphics capability, graphics will be displayed with different lines between drawings. 3D modeling is more delicate in this system than 2D modeling.

I've used Autodesk AutoCAD since 2014 and fell in love with it. Can describe the software as user friendly, efficient and the best software available for plan drawing and Computer Aided Drawing. Although there were some bugs in the earlier versions, most of them were fixed from the frequent updates. Also I love being able use the output drawing on many other 3D design software as a direct input. Even if you are a beginner level or advanced user, you can easily produce a drawing using AutoCAD with its simple GUI and tools.
Unlike some other software, AutoCAD does not need a Civil Engineering knowledge in designing something from AutoCAD. If you are trying a house plan, a rough sketch with basic dimensions and basic computer knowledge is enough to work with AutoCAD. Also built in function such as adding dimensions, different unit types, hatch patterns make it quite easier to create a drawing directly. And being able to use layer function is a huge support in designing large plans.
I would be happy if Autodesk increased the snapping support creating drawings. Also it's lacking some of the tools available in other software such as SketchUp.

I've been using AutoCAD for almost a year now. For CAD modelling, drawing, architectural design, and construction detailing, I've used it. This application has always been utilised by me and my organisation for any construction-related job. We've been utilising it as the first stage in the Building Information Modelling process to create a basic model.
The software is ideal for creating technical documentation (two-dimensional and three-dimensional drawings). It's incredibly user-friendly, and most individuals pick it up in a few of days. It has a great collaboration feature to help with the review process, as well as the ability to keep your work in the cloud utilizing the Autodesk drive. With AutoCAD, you have access to a wide range of tools that may assist you in the development of any type of project, as well as a number of tools for visual design and presentation, as well as rendering.
The main drawback to AutoCAD is that it has a lot of challenges, but that's to be expected with a programme that can accomplish so much. I believe it is reasonable. It can also be costly, but you're paying for a lot of computational power. They do, however, provide excellent incentives for students and others (it's free), making CAD a very accessible subject to study.

The easiest program in two-dimensional planning in particular, it is a comprehensive, excellent and fast program and has features that help me complete my work in a short time and with high accuracy.

We have been working on 3D drawings with this software for a long time, the company uses this software on a daily basis to work in the plant or in the open field according to the drawings made by the whole team, our drawings are downloaded in large scale industrial applications and with this software we can do a professional job that can be applied without errors.
It is a software that is easy to link with the industry to create plans based on metrics of functionality of materials and costs of the same, it is possible to export the plans and make modifications online, we can also load data from previous plans to modify aspects related to construction materials or implement to modify some data.
We have no complaints with this software, we use it daily for our company 3D drawings, we make modifications online or directly from the program without the need for new administrative permissions.

AutoCad can be used easily to draft in many types of industry. As an architect this is my standard Cad software, I use AutoCad daily to make architectural projects, construction plans, reviews, make presentations, export drawings to other programs, etc. With its useful tools and commands as, layer, types of lines, styles, printing scales is quicker and easy to draft all my ideas and then fill them with all the information that the project require. I can handle all this information very organized and make corrections easily when I needed. AutoCad also offers preciseness which can be always used in the calculations of the project.
I use AutoCad for my Architecture projects, which is a field that requires a lot of graphic vision. Maybe AutoCad could advance in the field of aesthetic options, more hatch and patterns for example. Also, the hatch often gives me errors and it's a bit difficult to apply or tend to lag at times. It's not very good when it comes to just making 3D Rendering, I have to definitely use another program to do it. Another disadvantage is that AutoCad is being relegated by BIM programs specially Revit in which you can handle more information in the model and easily make modifications on the file.
