It is a fantastic piece of software that is unfortunately lead by a corporation that is too big for itself and the small matters don't get attended to. It still remains one of the best pieces of software on the market due to the amount of features it has and the ability to interact with other software. There are cheaper, faster alternatives out there that do work very well and try to mimick AutoCAD. However AutoCAD is very much ingrained in the industry and it will be hard to remove!
The sheer amount of customization and integrated features makes AutoCAD worthwhile. The ability to use LISP routines and get the software to do what you want. AutoCAD is a basic CAD platform, so you can't go about generating Surface models and the like, but it does do normal drafting very well.
Autodesk has the habit of not addressing old issues from within the software. For instance there are certain bugs that they have known about for over 5 years and done nothing about. This as well as the "new features" which, while great also tend to come at a cost - being slow and clunky.

It just keeps you in the loop, allows you to view drawings from a wide range of industries from construction to architecture to engineering, all freely able to collaborate on the same platform.
I like the fact that this software is used by so many different users and businesses across industry. Most of the time, if an associate cannot have access to the more expensive 3D platforms, they will more than likely have access to ACAD. Another great point is that it is always backwards compatible, so no matter what version the other parties are working in, I can still save my drawings in an older version format for them.
The software has been evolving over the last 20 years as I have been using it. Some changes have been good, others have been an attempt to keep up with other popular 3D packages. This has led to some very complicated tasks but most importantly, the software seems to get clunky and use up a lot of processing power and memory when installed. A small price to pay to have the daddy of them all available to you.

It's an essential tool that I use to create designs and concepts. But lately it appears like more people are moving to 3D applications like Revit and SketchUp, among other ones.
It is a wonderful asset in configuration projects and offers an extensive programming framework that runs well in both 2D and 3D formats. I like the level of detail it is and how easy and reliable the information exchange is with partners and providers.
AutoCad needs a powerful ram to function properly when handling large, complex drawings. AutoCad rendering improves visualisation, although high-quality renderings might require the use of other tools.

It's a good experience, I learned a lot, from 2D drawing to 3D renderings that could take hours. Being able to create scenarios and then demonstrate them to an audience was quite nice, as well as the quality of the renderings. I liked the fact that they have a lot of tools and how easy they are to use.
I really like the way it works, its tools remind me a lot of other products from other brands, which made me get familiar with the product faster. At first when I downloaded the program, I thought it would be impossible for me to understand it since I had never had an approach to this type of drawing programs, but inside the program you can learn a lot, since it has small help boxes that come out every time you want to use a tool.
Possibly what I liked the least, was the unexpected shutdowns that the program gave me, this happened mostly when working with 3D models, it was a bit annoying, but the autosave worked. In the same way, I never liked the file saving, I always had to look for the folder where I wanted to save it, even if it was always the same one.

In a rapidly changing world, the software we use change everyday, as we replace the one we are using now to a better one next month. This is even faster with engineering related software. But with everything else changing, AutoCAD has been the exception for me, going strong for nearly two decades now. The package keeps on improving year after year, with new feature being added to further enhance the user experience. It's nearly impossible to imagine continuing our design/ drafting work without AutoCAD anymore. Even the knowledge and experience in this software has become a job requirement in most engineering firms now.
Over the years, AutoCAD has evolved to be the perfect drafting tool for all engineering applications, and one that is no longer replaceable nor substitutable. It features the most comprehensive and easy to use tool set out there, helping you create any complicated drawing from scratch.
Autodesk AutoCAD has never been a cheap software. It's priced with the professional draftsperson in mind, and you'll have no 'limited' or 'free' versions beyond the trial period.

Overall experience is good because this is the most user friendly 2D drafting tool available in the market.
When It comes to Civil Engineering drawings, this is the most popular tool all over the world. In sri Lankan practice, even if we modeled a structure using BIM tool, we usually convert it to a CAD 2D drawing due to easy accessibility. The software provides various features such as 2D, 3D but 2D cad is the one which I used the most.
Software can be introduce as a drafting software since it does not provides intelligence features such as Revit. Therefore, the user has to draft each an every element which they need to see because software is unable to generate intelligence features such as cross sections, plane views, elevations etc.

AutoCAD is the base software for a construction company, and you cannot work without it. AutoCAD is a well-known software that is used by millions of users.
AutoCAD has a large library of tools and commands that are specifically designed for construction planning and coordination, making it easy to create detailed and complex plans. Also, AutoCAD is highly customizable, allowing users to create custom commands, shortcuts, and menus. This can help to streamline the planning and coordination process and improve productivity.
AutoCAD is hard to learn, particularly for beginners who may suffer to understand the large number of tools and commands. Also, you have to have a good PC specification when dealing with large plans or drawings.

So far, we are very satisfied specially our engineers on fields who are using it everyday.
What i like now with AutoCAD is when they move licensing to online. It become easy to manage and deploy to any of our computer in any location. In terms of using AutoCAD, it is perfect tool for any Engineering jobs. Our user/engineers are satisfied with using the latest version.
What we don't like is the price, it is a bit expensive than their competitor. But since they have the best functions, we are buying them over cheaper competitors.

Till now i have total more than 4 years of experience with this Software and i have not seen any software like this in market yest. Lost of companies are using it so it becomes more easy to collaborate with other users
Its UI is very simple and easy to understand. It can be integrated with other softwares. Its working is very fast and smooth. It has lots of features and tools, which are required for 2d drafting. Also we can customize this software as per our need. We can create Auto LISP to automate repetitive and complex tasks also.
Its not good for 3d modelling. When working with 3d and blocks, I have observed that it gets slow sometimes. There is no option for cloud collaboration, so multiple users can't work on same file at same time.

Due to its long history and features, AutoCAD has become a de facto standard. I love that they still keep the Command Line Interface, which I still find it the fastest way to interact with the software and an excellent way to use it even though its interface uses another locale that I don't understand. Although I haven't seen many improvements in recent times (or not at the same speed and importance as it used to do in early 2000's), it does offer all the features you may need to draw efficiently, fast and with precision.
It is just a computer aided design program, which means that it is in drawing where it excels. Unfortunately, Architecture has evolved in another direction and it is now more complex than ever. As a result, we have to deal with a lot of information that do not fit within AutoCAD (eg. quantity surveying, PEM, reporting, energy...) and require either complex workflows involving many other software or using a BIM solution.

AutoCAD is the best software to make engineering drawings. I used this software during my university period when I created a pictorial representation of medical equipment and the internal design of the machines. It is not an easy-to-use software. I took a lot of time to learn this software during my university days.
AutoCAD has different versions, and it has been updated by its manufacturer every year. So the features are constantly updated and making it more user-friendly day by day. I made most of my engineering drawings on AutoCAD. I have great 3D pictorial representations of diagrams, and it is beneficial for engineers
I won't recommend this software to beginners as it is not as easy as it seems to be. One needs to take proper guidance and training before creating drawings on this software. I would suggest trying the more accessible software before using this software.

Anything I can imagine I can render in 3-Dimensional space, take and label accurate dimensions, and export it to be CNC'ed, 3-D Printed, or as a blueprint for custom crafting. It really is the lifeblood of my business and hobbies.
The commands and tools are EXTREMELY intuitive and there is basically no learning curve. You can go from 2D to 3D and back again in an instant.
The overlay seems a bit bulky and there are countless features I just don't use and frankly have no idea what they're about.

I use the software for the design of architectural drawings, laser cutting and for the design of industrial parts, specifically for sanitary and electrical installations. It is a program that is indispensable for most jobs and that you can use for small or large-scale projects, whether they are school or professional projects. The commands and interface prepare you to use 3D programs and other tools from the same Autodesk family. Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator (free version)
It is one of the first tools that allows you to digitise your projects, whether they are architectural or industrial projects that you deal with not only during school but throughout your working life. It is easy to use and very accessible compared to other software, allows you to get it totally free while you are at school and connects with other Autodesk programs.
Its layered interface and the organisation you can get is a bit outdated. Plus the glitches you can get while you are working and the loss of your work even if you had autosave enabled.

I enjoy my experience and its features make me very happy when they cause ease in drawing difficult shapes very easily.
When I started using this software day by day I could unleash its amazing features. There can be other softwares present for drawing but AutoCAD is very much user-friendly, It allows us to draw in 2d as well as 3D space. It is so easy to draw any kind of long buildings or any other project on it. Also, it allows us to do wirings on it so that the complete layout of home, hospital, mall, etc can be...
This software has so many features for this reason to learn it completely you might need a little bit longer time and because of high features, it requires high-level computer hardware to make this software working properly.

-Its interface is a little bit confusing sometimes -Autocad work on Windows and MAC. -You must have a small notion of how the program work, if not, you couldn't start even to make a line. -You could know the basic with a tutorial when you install the program, but you will be more successful if you are take classes -You have to know something about design to use this software, this a specialize software, the set of feature are huge but if you do not know anything about design you won´t know how to use this software. -It is not suited for 3D beacause it requires high-quality computer hardware that can be costly and the people need to be trained how to use the software that also can be expensive.

With Autocad you have a huge variety of tool that can help you to develope any kind of proyects, a lot of tools for visual design and presentations, and rendering
its expensive, is difficult for independent profesional to use it due to the license cost, now we have a subscription metod, but it keeps the high price

I truly think that no other program in the market nowadays offers what autocad does, its tridimensional design options can really make up for its high cost and somehow complicated usage options, Nevertheless, every time I have the options of creating accurate detailed objects, well delineated, with desired backgrounds and colors, I feel that I really hav the appropriate tool.
Autocad is a more than capable designing tool, it features hundreds of different options that guarantee an outstanding overcome in any architectural or general object or space design project you might face. As a non-professional designer, I have found it very convenient to use this powerful software. It might be a little complicated to get the handle of ir at first, eventually becomes a necessary tool...
Considering its nature, this software might be a little complicated to use for newcomers or amateurs in the field of architecture. Plus, its price might be a little high for some people as well. However, these are not serious issues.

Contains associative arrays, point cloud tools, active geographic and cartographic location, enhanced interface, ribbon gallery, help window, intelligent dimensioning, coordination model, image-based lighting environments, import of pdf files, share design views, Autodesk writing application, lines and brands of smart centers, Autocad 360 Pro mobile application. And most importantly, you will use an excellent easy work tool, practice to create, read, and modify designs in your workplace and it will be very useful.
It has several advantages among these are the following: In my own experience when I met this program being a university, I found it was time-saving, since once you learn how to use it, you can make plans more easily and quickly. It has many functions for different areas of engineering, such as mechanical, civil or electrical, electronic, metallurgical, which makes it very broad software, apart from being very dynamic, it is only with a tutorial that you start using it. It is not necessary to take a course or diploma, It uses command and codes and buttons and is very friendly at the beginning. The design software replaces the drawings by hand with automated processes.
One of the biggest disadvantages is: You must have a computer with high memory capacity, because if you have many drawings or designs, this program will be slow at the time of operation. The program has a high cost, due to its license. Knowing how to use the software fully requires a lot of time since there are many functions, and even that they are of little application, since they are very specific. AutoCAD can not edit the line and location as freely as the edition programs-- illustration and overlapping lines and line thicknesses are limited to a few options.

We've been successfully using AutoCAD for 20 years to complete all of our construction drawings.
There are different ways for different types of individuals to use the product in a faster + more efficient way that suits their own needs and style of drafting.
The graphic features are somewhat limited. We need to employ other software to create presentation quality drawings.

It helps when yo have to make a presentation to your manager or you want to get the info you have compiled across to your co-workers AND above all when you have to find that ONE cable or that elusive piece of equipment .
Extremely useful when you finisha major project and you connect yourlaptop or smartphone to 65 or 85 inch and you want to demonstrate new additions or major changes OR in the case of where I work when our guest engineers finished with the major upgrade recently as soon as I connected his laptop ALL the racks and equipment were simple to absorb on the 65'' tv plus the space at the bottom of all the racks where hopefully the powers that be will purchase and install the equipment upgrades we currently need .
Now the negatives . On a 14 or 16'' laptop it's easy to find a cable or a label to a switch or router you're trying to troubleshoot IF you're patient . Anything smaller you will get frustrated and just go for a tv witha coworker to troubleshoot the issue . I know it might be asking too much but an android version , optimized for a small scren would help IMMENSELY when you're on the road . The there's the subscription path tat ADOBE has taken as with their other products . Annoying .

This software is what I use for drafting, because every drawing requires a draft. Another feature is the ability to load a file that generates a picture and allows you to trace that picture and drawing. I've seen it utilized for a variety of things, including construction blueprints, bridges, and computer chips, to mention a few. AutoCAD is a 2D and 3D computer-aided drafting software tool that makes it simple for me to update with pencil after printing.
AutoCAD is a world-renowned design software for civil and other engineering projects, allowing for the quick and effective construction of transportation, urban, and environmental projects. You can use AutoCAD to address all of the relevant parts of work covered inside Civil Engineering and Topography projects. I've been able to make proposals with any of the requirements that my job requires using this program. It has a number of functions that make data collection easier, such as area, volume, and distance, among others.
The biggest disadvantage of AutoCAD is that it comes with a lot of problems, which is to be expected from a tool that can do so much. It seems reasonable to me. It can also be expensive, but you're getting a lot of computing power for your money. However, they provide fantastic incentives for students and others (it's free), making CAD a very accessible subject to learn.

Most comprehensive drafting software on the market. Can take a project from start to deliver: Import, clean up, labeling, DTM creation, QC, etc. all with built in features and tools.
Set up with customized equipment databases, figure prefix databases, point groups, so you can automate a lot of the data at import. Loads of tools for all different kinds of drafting. Ability to create 3D DTM models. Ability to reference other drawings or files in the background for reference.
Learning curve - takes a while to learn what can be done and the best way to accomplish it. Prone to crashing and autosave is not always reliable. Database points and drawing points do not always play nicely with each other (try to overwrite etc.).
