Pros

We are a design, development, Internet marketing and Internet presence management firm.

Another great monetization feature is the Lead Generation tool.

Pros

Management features for controlling accessibility to features by members so I can customize pricing plans to fit my business model; Also the lead generation!

Cons

I like the look and feel of the Templatic directory platform from a User Interface perspective.

Aside from the appearance aspects, I'd love the option to hide individual sections of a page layout on mobile viewing platforms. Some things you may not want to display on mobile versus desktop.

Pros

After the setup i was ready to start billing members for their memberships and buying leads, also special banner ad placements around the site.

Cons

i took my time researching because it was the more expensive solutions, but i'm happy i went with Brilliant. You do get what you pay for and it's clear that there is value built in.

Very Useful Platform for a Directory Startup

We could never have gotten our directory up and running with Brilliant Directories, or something like it.

Pros

Importing and exporting data is also quite simple.

Cons

By necessity, this software is quite complex. This isn't a flaw - it's just the way a quality directory is. It takes time to learn everything that you need to know to get a directory up and running. Consequently, I recommend starting out with a very specific market niche, and a limited number of features. "Bells and whistles" can later be introduced as upgrades.

Business Directory Software that Saved the Day

We did a lot of research for directory website software, we even lost a lot of money in the beginning with systems that were not as robust. We are more than pleased and highly recommend Brilliant Directories as an all-in-one directory and marketing system. You guys did an amazing job.

Pros

We love that our entire staff can work in the same system and that we don't really need any third party applications to run our business.

Cons

They have a lot of flexibility with their system but we would also like to be able to manage all our social media accounts from the system like we do in hootesuite.

Overall Good but Functionally Lacking

Though my present state of our directory I should have realized would be an issue because when I bought the directory Dennis had to invoice me through "PayPal" as the payment gateway would not process any of my cards, not once but twice.

Fantastic product, easy to use

Navigation from both the back end and front end is easy, user friendly and fast.

Pros

How user friendly it is and the clean layout and design. I also like that it is a stand alone product.

Cons

The upload of the categories didn't work for me via the csv file however I am yet to discuss with the support team what I may have been doing wrong.

I initially found it difficult to get someone from the support team to get back to me so found that very disappointing. I replied to the automatic emails that are sent out during the free trial period - that invite you to reply with any questions - but received no response. When I did finally get call back (at 3am in the morning!) from someone (after sending a couple of emails, leaving a couple of voicemails and a Facebook message!) I was told that they dedicate their time and priority to paying customers. Whilst I do understand this, I really wanted to pay for the software however the support feature was really important to me. Had I not liked the software so much I wouldn't have become a paying customer! It's a bit of a catch-22 but I really do think that if support is offered during that period, it should be honoured. I am however really happy with my decision and since signing up with Brilliant Directories I have had a great experience - it was just during that initial trial period that I felt the support could have been better.

Started with a wordpress inspired theme for business listing but when I came to know about BD and its features, I was sold. Thanks for Going the Extra Mile Dennis.

Other directories options may be cheaper but I personally think it's worth the extra money for the amazing functionality and design. Things I don't like, While of course there are going to be upsells like in any business.

Include the SSL in your price. Every seriouse site needs to have one anyways and as soon as they buyers purchase they find out they have an additional $247 for a SSL certificate.

I also appreciate the cons you laid out - these help us improve the software. Regarding the pricing system for your different members, while individual membership levels are limited to the pricing options you set for them, you can create more niche/specific membership levels for certain categories or service areas. You can then set different payment options for those - just another option :)

Far too complicated and no flexibility

I learned that you cannot use a generic hosted script and expect it to be flexible and easy to use.

Pros

The look of the templates and the fact that it is responsive design that works on mobile phones.

Cons

No flexibility and extremely complex to set up and use. I have been using various scripts over the last 10 years and this is the most confusing and complex set up that I have dealt with.
