The reports coming out of this software is great for tracking our progress.

Pros

I love the ability to upload data in certain functionalities such as the payroll and journal entries.

Cons

The fact that when we invoice the holdbacks, the system knows which previous invoices it's referencing but it won't automatically reconcile in the customer's account.

Logical, intuitive software to work with and timely, accurate reports Actually able to be creative with Design your own report module.

Cons

I find that Help Docs search is not giving the desired outcome. I like better Video Tutorial Section.

Schedule as much time as possible, having the software demonstrated by an expert. If possible, download a trial version. Identify your business processes and have the software demonstrate how it will work through each process. Vendors will give you a lot of attention and time with the software while you are a potential customer. After you have made the purchase, you will no longer get the same attention, and working through these issues will be billed as training time.

The subcontractor module provides good controls. The design of sales tax location codes provides good flexibility in sales tax reporting.

Cons

Examples are the Customer PO field in Job Cost and A/R, along with the part number field in inventory.

This is not a good product for a small to medium service company that only wants to take advantage of some of the available functionality/features. i think it is better suited for large construction companies.

I’m really sorry about the pain you’ve been experiencing. I know that an apology doesn’t make up for what you are going through, but we have been trying to get in touch with you but haven’t been able to reach you.
We did notice that you are currently on an older version of Jonas and not utilizing a lot of the modules that Jonas has to offer and believe that this might be the root cause of some of the issues you are experiencing.
Our newer versions have a different user interface and are included free of charge with your annual maintenance fee.

Jonas is very solid from an accounting point of view - a lot of controls in place with regards to sub-ledger/trial balance/GL balancing etc. There are also a lot of modules to choose from. Just be careful that you do not limit yourself in terms of what the software can do (your company will change over the years) or choose a product that is not well known or tested.

The Payroll and G/L are great. For Job reporting ensure that you will be able to get your data into the system and included in the reports within the timeframe that you want. The after the fact reporting is great. There can be weaknesses in trying to get accurate daily results if your processes do not mesh with their processing.

The Pro and Con to Jonas is it is HIGHLY customizable. With that, there needs to be a very thoughtful process to how you set it up in the beginning.

Pros

AIA/progress billing is easy with the step by step menu.

The stock payroll reports haven't fit very well for us.

We have experienced increased productivity on the administrative side of our business and higher accuracy in all areas.

Pros

And has made the accounting side of our business seamless from service tech to customer invoice. Payroll accuracy has increased and timeliness of getting invoices out to customers has increased because of the techs ability to use devices to complete work orders and we are not waiting for them to be turned into the office.

Cons

Also, if you do not have a bill to set up in accounts receivable you have to exit the job master, then go to AR to set up the bill to and back into the job master to finish your set up.

Pros

Processes are broken down into very small steps which can be helpful if you're looking for an audit trail. The mobile portion (emobile) of Jonas Enterprise is a valuable addition for field workers and dispatchers alike.

Cons

Scale and size are unchangeable and there are many screens and modules that are so miniscule as to render them unreadable. Mobile-wise the visuals get better but are not quite user friendly for service individuals in the middle of a job.

Looked for Jonas as a solution. Only found problems.

Pros

After investing in this software and using it for six months in the construction industry, hoping it would provide a solution to integrating a full service project management, doc control and accounting system, our general contracting company had no choice but to return to Sage 100 Software.

Cons

Jonas overpromised in their sales, and underdelivered to the point of negligence in both the product and the service. We paid for add on modules that were never installed or followed up on, the training was inadequate, and the support was horrible. Please do yourself a favor, if you are a general contractor looking for a solution as above, and do NOT consider Jonas. It was a very expensive mistake for our company, in terms of the issues that it caused us. I was never so glad to go back to an imperfect program as Sage 100. We cleaned up our files and worked with a consultant, and I am so happy with Sage now after our nightmare experience with Jonas.

Have an extensive list of questions for the sales team, and ask for a trial of the program before you buy it to see it work in real time. The interface looked like we were back in 1985, and the report formats and presentations looked as if they had been printed from a Dot Matrix. Their 'Datamart' Solution was supposed to fix this, but even after we purchased it, no one followed up on it with us, until we finally called and reminded them we had purchased it. We were told we couldn't train on it for a period of time after our intial 'Go Live', and were therefore stuck with awful, unprofessional and outdated reports to send to our clients for multi-million dollar projects. It was clumsy and non-intuitive, and what we were told in the sales process did not come to fruition in application and practice. It is smoke and mirrors. Please do your homework. Look elsewhere for your solutions.

We had to find a software that would allow us to have lots of options in terms of reporting, as well as something that would eliminate the double entry of our payroll and separate job costing functions.

Cons

The subcontract module works well for those who are required to submit payment certificates to their subcontractors.

Pros

We do all of our accounting and job costing in Jonas.

Cons

What I like least is the lack of ability to drill down to GL detail level (journal entry or Job Cost details from GL). I must add that Jonas has made a huge push in the last few years to encourage users to suggest/vote for/promote new ideas. This allow them to focus on users' "cons."

The only feature I liked better than our previous software was the ability to post multiple days of time against work orders.

Cons

Reports are terrible, and locating information is next to impossible in any kind of timely manner. Billing procedures are time-consuming and redundant many times.
