Pros

I think NeonCRM is a great value for the price. I've also had excellent interactions with their support team, who were very friendly and responsive.
Great tools for managing donor system- love the automatic thank you emails, donation forms, database, reporting, etc. Also love the ease of use with Events and Campaigns.
The software is great and we will continue to use it as we find that it is very helpful for what we are doing.

Pros

It was really easy to get started with Salsa Engage. The staff people are fantastic to work with and very responsive.
I highly recommend DonorPro - it's a great value for the price, they provide EXCELLENT customer service and it's easy to use.
The options in the reporting system are great and I find it superior to most query/reporting tools.

Cons

Customer service was truly horrendous and ultimately drove us off the platform. Pretty unresponsive, no documentation, and then angry and aggressive when we complained.
It is not only the volunteer module that we struggle with. In general we have a more limited capacity for pulling reports.
Fundamentally we struggle daily with reporting and customer service.

Cons

The inability to add off-line donations to individual fundraising pages is our biggest concern at this time. This problem has been detrimental to our fundraising efforts.
The fact that NOTHING is in alphabetical order. Why and how this has happened is ridiculous.
There are some inconsistencies with email set up. I HATE the way the email series set ups are, the scheduling is horrible, it should just use a calendar like a regular blast.

Neon CRM is a superior CRM system. It is intuitive, fast and easy to use, especially with all the integrations it offers. I highly recommend Neon CRM!

Pros

I am a long-time user of Neon CRM and I have to say, it has been a blessing. It's made marketing so much easier and I've been able to get just as much work done in half the time. It also has a fantastic customer service team who are always there to help when I'm stuck on something or need advice.

Cons

Neon CRM is the best CRM I've ever used. It's got a great user interface, a feature rich marketing automation suite, and an easy-to-use customer contact list. Every day I'm grateful for how it helps me manage the customer relationships I have with my clients.

Neon CRM has all of the tools that our non-profit needs - CRM, registration, donation, and much more.

Cons

Don't like having to separate and double count records for Organizations and associated Individuals. This should be a seamless process to have the ability to track both without the need for connecting relationships on the backend or double counting records.

Pros

Neon CRM has good customer service with friendly and helpful representatives. The CRM does have basic integration capacity and CRM functionality. They will waive the monthly fee for PayPal Pro if you use it as your payment processing gateway.

Cons

This software is not remotely intuitive. It requires hours of watching video training guides and reading supporting documentation to become sufficiently oriented to the software. The design is very basic and unaesthetic, and the pricepoint is high for the value. There are extra fees for data migration, advanced support, initial consultation and the use of other modules.

Above all, Neon CRM is part of our institutional memory efforts. Previously, we had one employee who kept all notes in his brain, on cocktail napkins, and in Arts People ticketing. I've seen other CRM interfaces, and Neon looks the best, works the best, and does its best to keep things simple.

Pros

We integrate Neon CRM with Arts People. Arts People is great for large-event ticketing, and CRM is great for donor management. Neon CRM is easy to use, easy to teach, and, best of all, we are able to maintain institutional memory.

Cons

There's nothing I don't like about CRM, although I'd like to see cumulative reports on household donations.

Very good modular CRM for non-profits with great support

Pros

I especially appreciated the ease of connecting it with Quickbooks Online to help me process donations. I also really liked the way it integrated into our website and the modules that were offered. It was also able to run credit cards, which was very convenient. The support was VERY responsive; they definitely worked very hard to help me resolve any issues that I had. I was very happy with the time it saved me processing donations and that it was fairly easy to generate mailing lists. Also, it could handle event registrations; there's no need for separate software like Eventbrite!

Cons

The learning curve on this CRM is a bit steep; of course, this is the first real CRM I've used, but sometimes I would have appreciated more help or guidance or a more friendly interface; I was a bit overwhelmed getting started on it.

Learning curve - but worth it!

Our overall experience with Neon CRM has been positive. I am excited to use the software creatively to diversify our revenue, and grow our social impact. Neon CRM was the exact "next step" we needed.

Pros

I love the diverse capabilities of the NeonCRM software. We have been able to apply it in multiple areas to grow our small non-profit.

Cons

The least favorite part of NeonCRM has been the learning curve and ease of use for a few of our employees. Most of our team is 20-40 years old, and are used to different work flows on other applications. Biggest areas of work flow issues are in the email feature and website form set up.

Overall - in the past 5 months that I have been using it, I really like it. I would recommend it to anyone else at any other nonprofit as it is very user friendly compared to other CRMs out there.

Amazing and have recomended them to most non profits researching for a new crm.

Pros

The customer service is what made the decision easiest for us. Responsive and listens to every concern.Administrative heachaces are lessened with automation. The CRM integrates with many programs to reduce user entry errors on the backend.

Cons

events management still needs work (9/6/23). While It is great to use and get a complete picture of the constituent, the actual designing and then the signup pages fro events is cumbersome without help.

Well worth it

I've used several different CRM programs and I find Neon CRM relatively easy to use and affordable. It is very capable of fulfilling the needs of our organization. I also appreciate how fast Neon customer service responds to questions.

Pros

Being able to pull the data easily for what I need when I run reports. And being able to individualize the main page so that I can instantly see donation increases in the campaigns that I'm interested in.

Cons

When first learning to use I would miss a donation when looking at an individual's record- if that donation had been added to their partner's account instead. To remedy this I linked the households together and now only check this page so I can make sure to see all the gifts made in one place. It would be helpful though to be able to add mailing list tags to entire households instead of only by the individual.

I highly recommend using NeonCRM to anyone that is looking for a new CRM system!

Pros

I love that any time I run into an issue, customer support is readily available and it is so easy to type into a search engine and get the answer. The video tutorials are easy to understand and follow. Neon has really taken our organization to another level.

Cons

The only criticism I have is that there are so many functions and ways to integrate with other systems (Survey monkey, QuickBooks, etc) that it can be a little overwhelming at times administrating the whole thing.

Pros

I like that it is a (relatively) cost effective CRM that is all web-based.

Cons

Working with tech support is a horrible user experience. The folks who make this software should read about Computer Mediated Communication and gain understanding about why CMC is ineffective. I have never had a positive experience with tech support, and typically receive a snarky e-mail response 24 hours after submitting a ticket which guides me to the online Q & A section...which is where I look every time before contacting customer service because it is a horrible user experience. I feel like I am not a priority to them at all.

Pros

The training is top notch and I am able to utilize all the features which makes our nonprofit stronger. Neon CRM is more affordable than other options and has a lot of the same features. I love that I am able to add event tickets!

Cons

It's a little hard to figure out how to add tasks, but once you get it, this CRM runs really well.

Good product for the basics

Seeing all our member interactions in one place is very useful. Reporting and selecting users based on various criteria is fairly good.

Pros

It covers our “bread and butter” features for our nonprofit: membership, fundraising/donations, and basic CRM.

Cons

Some of the other functions are weaker than expected, and could use significant improvements (definitely not near best of breed status). These include email (we continue to use MailChimp), event management (we continue to use EventBrite), and volunteer tracking. We do use the Store functions as our product sales are very limited, but when we open a gift shop we’ll transition to something like Shopify. I feel as long as you don’t expect it to be a “one stop shop” you’ll probably do ok. It’s a good price for the basics, given we are a fairly small non-profit.

You have to wait forever for support

Our membership-based nonprofit has been using Neon CRM since 2017. We've seen a lot of improvements in that time, and expect the platform to become even more robust. In fact, one of the most endearing features of the Neon ecosystem is the monthly update and the associated webinars introducing new functionality. HOWEVER, as noted above: invariably, there is an excruciatingly long wait time before support tickets are answered.

Pros

Neon CRM is a great system for administering membership, donations, and events for our non-profit.

Cons

Support is great, eventually... BUT it takes a week or more to get an answer to a simple question. This is a major shortcoming that Neon would do well to address.

Pros

Tons of options to customize, great solutions-based customer service, easy to keep organized and "clean."

Cons

Almost too many options! Can be confusing to find what I need at times, but customer service is always there to help.

Overall a great product and easy to learn. If you need a lot of very specific reporting, however, this may not be the one for you.

Pros

Seamlessly integrates event registration, social fundraising, online donations, volunteer scheduling, grant tracking and donor development all in one CRM.

Cons

Specific reports can be difficult to obtain. Trial and error to get the exact information you want. You also cannot create tickets for events-- registrants only receive email confirmations.

Overall, Neon CRM has greatly improved our ability to track and steward donors. Our fundraising endeavors have greatly benefited as have our events. And automating many of the processes like acknowledgments has freed up more time to work on further improvements. It's been a huge improvement over the excel spreadsheets we were using previously.

Pros

The constituent portal is what really stood out for me and made me choose Neon CRM over other options.

Cons

There are certainly some features that could be improved or added. I've found donation batching to be cumbersome. There is no sustaining membership option, where a recurring donation can be counted toward a membership. And the duplicate merging process is clunky.

This has been a nightmare, time consuming work arounds.

Pros

The Engage portion is ok, email integration, but still doesn't push info into CRM, or CRM does not push to Engage.

Cons

The CRM does not work for Canadian organisations with regard to receipting - big fail! It also doesn't automatically process direct debit donations, big fail! TERRIBLE response from support team. Reports are flawed, have holes, there are more workarounds to make sure that the right things are included and excluded.

It is a challenge and you have to put a ticket in for every problem. We are a small organization and wanted a simple program. This is a full time position.

Pros

Price, online data is transferred to the CRM. The Engage and CRM merge. We were able to get rid of Event Brite. We can all access the CRM and use it at one time. This is helpful.

Cons

Transfer of data was a problem. We would up with over 10,000 duplicates and it is taking us forever to delete them. Also the user experience was poor. Our constituents say it is too complicated. Membership is a challenge.

Pros

Salsa Equips constituents with digital marketing, peer-to-peer fundraising and advocacy tools. Bottom line, there is no limit to how one can share an organization's cause! Also, the automated communications allow you to develop sets of tasks that help you engage with constituents. This is extremely helpful when developing relationships with our givers (who doesn't appreciate a timely response to a gift?).

Cons

Salsa CRM is expensive. That ceiling won't last long for many organizations.

A newer merger makes the price more affordable than competitors!

Pros

Salsa has recently merged with donor pro making prices lower while offering more features than other options out there. This is great for cost-conscious organizations. Additionally, the fees are charged monthly per record, creating an incentive to keep your database clean.

Cons

Salsa CRM has a partner product for external marketin, engage, and the integration could use improvements. For example, the ticketing features from engage do not translate into CRM as clean as you would hope.

Salsa Engage - Peer to Peer and CRM

CRM less intuitive than Engage, and harder to get constituents back into Engage from CRM - automatic the other direction. De-duplication is getting easier to use.

Pros

There are good on-line tutorials and if you call for help, they are very attentive. Easy to use social messaging and email newsletters. Design Templates very intuitive. Peer-to-Peer has increased our fundraising goals. For a small non-profit like ours, the fees are reasonable, but still hard to digest.

Cons

If you send a request for help on-line it takes too long to be helpful, but see above, I use other methods for support instead.

We have found Salsa CRM to be a great choice for our small organization. We have more features than with our previous product and the customer service is fantastic! We have had a few issues with the design of Salsa CRM and some of the features but nothing some tweaking to our procedures won't fix.

There are a few features we had before that do not exist in Salsa CRM. Nothing major.

The feature we liked the most was that it was connected to Salsa Engage, connecting our website, CRM and email marketing.

Cons

Salsa CRM doesn't have an events module or a membership module which we had with our previous database.

The Salsa CRM support staff is great - we are very happy with them.

Pros

There is a lot of functionality. We seem to be able to do a lot of different things with it. It seems to integrate well with our other platforms.

Cons

It's a little complicated. Short training was sufficient to get us going but I think in order to use it in a more in-depth way, we would need more time on training.
