We have two businesses that run independently of each other, but use similar resources such as staff and equipment, so being able to have one phone system that can accommodate both companies under the same umbrella was a life saver. An administration portal, dubbed the “8x8 Account Manager", is available for users who are configuring their phone systems or setting up extensions. Users can also visit the Account Manager to setup Auto Attendant, hold music, and ring groups.
The Account Manager is your online portal for managing your company’s internal telephone system. Most of the information you need will be viewable in the dashboard. This is where you’ll find call log reporting, billing information, phone system setup, and account updates (such as network alerts).
Having an automated attendant replaces the need for a receptionist at many places of business. A powerful VoIP business service, 8x8’s Auto Attendant feature can efficiently direct callers to the correct department or extension, and it can be customized for different hours of the day. The Auto Attendant feature is included with 8x8’s Unlimited, Metered, and Global extension plans.
You can set up the Auto Attendant feature by recording and uploading a custom greeting. 8x8 also gives you the option of using a professionally-recorded greeting, purchasing from the company’s Audio Production Store. Automatically converting voicemail to email is an important strategy for companies that are looking for ways to make their employees more efficient. Using this feature, employees receive immediate email notifications when they’ve received voiceails, with attached audio files for quick listening.
With 8x8, you can listen to voicemails without calling in to your voicemail box. Instead, the app will send you an email whenever a new voicemail comes in. This email will contain an audio file of the voicemail, along with the phone number of the person who called. You also have the option to have emails sent without audio files, or with links to the audio files rather than attachments.
