Overall, the value of Shift is outweight the cons. I hope they remedy the MacBook usage dilemma because it often slows my computer down.
I manage a dozen or so email addresses and Shift does a great job with letting me access all of the accounts in one space. A couple of years ago, we sent a request for Shift to integrate with Lastpass and they integrated with it pretty quickly, which is helpful with password management of all of the accounts I juggle. I also love that Google Drive and Calendar work well right there in the platform very well.
Shift is quite buggy. It freezes often and takes up a lot of CPU memory on my MacBook. It often makes my fan start spinning quickly to cool my MacBook down. Microsoft Outlook doesn't work as well as Gmail accounts, so I still use a browser for Outlook. I like that it integrates with Dropbox so you can save email attachments in a Dropbox folder right in the app. However, in my experience, several documents...

In my opinion $100 per year is negligible to be able to search across all your work platforms and re-organize your work environment. That said, some readers may not have money to blow in which case Shift is not for them. If you are looking for a free option that consolidates email and apps, don't despair. There are apps like Franz and Rambox to name but a few. These apps are similar to Shift in many ways but offer more options in terms of their free versions. If you are professional willing to invest in an app that may well save you time and money in the long run, then this might be a perfect fit.
According to their website, "Shift is the desktop app for streamlining your accounts, apps, and workflows." and if you watch a tutorial video you'll see it does exactly that. On the free version you can add two email accounts and 1 app account. Thus, the free version is ideal for someone who only has two Google accounts but still wants to consolidate things. The pro version costs less than 100 dollars;...
The only con is that some people, like me for instance, might fail to notice the fine print and think they're getting all the pro features for free. The free version doesn't offer anything that most mail clients can't already do. As such, it seems like the free version only exists as a means to tempt the user into buying the pro version where things really happen.

The product is excellent but I'm extremely disappointed by support. I was offered a free year long trial of the beta version of Premium by a senior member of the team after having buggy experiences earlier on. A few months in I was loving it and planning to upgrade to Premium after the year. However, after a few months, the account was spontaneously downgraded. After almost 2 additional months of...
Easy to use, used to be really buggy but has improved significantly Chrome extensions are now available So easy to toggle between accounts Doesn't seem to use a lot of bandwidth
Customer support Frequent identity verification - but that's probably not within Shift's control

Overall very positive. It has saved me considerable time and has changed the way I use my computer each day making moving between the software platforms I use most frequently a breeze.
The ability to keep multiple software platforms open in one screen that ISN'T my web browser is why we're using Shift. Moving effortlessly between multiple Slack channels and Monday.com alone is worth the price of admission for our company. Bringing in email and other platforms is icing on the cake.
The fact that the email can only be setup to work with major platform email systems like Gmail and 365 is frustrating. I would also like to be able to NOT have this software pull in Gmail but there doesn't seem to be a way to turn that off. I use Shift for a lot of things, but email isn't one of them.

My experience has been great. I have not needed much support at all. The program is intuitive and easy to use. I wish it were cheaper, but I can see the value of the product ad why it costs what it does. It has saved me hours of time opening and logging into separate email accounts multiple times a day.
I love that I can have access to multiple email accounts in one place that are easy to find/navigate. I have a professional email, a personal email, another professional email for consulting work I do, and another professional email for student government work. I have access to all of those easily on Shift, and getting through my email is a breeze now.
I find I have to log into the accounts more frequently than I want. At least once a week, I need to do this, and the purpose of the software (for me) was to keep the accounts open, separate, and secure in an easy-to-access manner.

Shift is an outstanding tool for busy professionals to stay organized and maintain different accounts within one platform. It supports various email providers, as well as dozens, if not hundreds of applications. The dashboard is easy to use and it lets you pick from a few templates and color schemes. I used Shift to stay connected to a few email accounts that I use and it helps me centralize everything within one application. Overall, I am happy with its performance.
The only thing that I do not like as much about Shift is the pricing. Even though they offer a few tiers for its users, I think it is somewhat expensive.

Shift has made me more efficient and helped me limit the number of tabs and desktop apps I leave open at any given time. I've thoroughly enjoyed using the software and think there are some really unique features to it, but the price tag is going to be prohibitive to some.
I love how simple Shift has made it for me to switch back and forth between some of my most important apps (email, Slack, Hootsuite, Trello, etc.). It's intuitive enough that I caught on quickly to everything it offered, and I appreciate having one go-to app for everything I need.
The pricing for the "premium" version is pretty steep for the concept of this software. While I get a lot of value out of it, I'm not 100% sure if I'll re-up on my subscription at the end of it simply because I got 50% off to start out. Moreover, it's important to note that while this is an extremely useful program, it's essentially just a container that opens up the web/progressive web app versions of whatever service you're using. With that in mind, it's ultimately just a replacement for leaving a web browser open with your key tabs. Whether or not that's worth the hefty price tag is ultimately up to you.

Shift is a kind of wrapper, and bookmark manager, which in itself doesn't sound complicated or clever, but the devil is in the detail. Within hours of using it, my default behaviour for using Gmail has changed completely, and having commonly used apps in there, I am finding that I'm using it like a master control panel for my business.
I like the way that Shift allows me to have my 3 Gmail accounts open at the same time, and jump between them both. Although this functionality is somewhat present in a browser, working with Shift feels like the email is now anchored and it feels much nicer using it inside an app. The interface is preserved but the app allows me to move in and out of it without the risk of a closed tab. Furthermore, other apps can be added to the bottom which are sort of web-tabs, but do not require logging in.
Not much to dislike. Obviously put my requests in for more apps I'd like to see supported. I don't use any of the chat apps like Slack in there, as I need them in their own window while using stuff in Shift. So I didn't see too much value in having them inside shift.

Shift let's you manage multiple email (and other) account within the software, which makes it a very useful service for many professionals including myself who use multiple email accounts on a daily basis. It notifies you when new data arrives. Easy to add new accounts.
Only cons is that many services require you to upgrade to the most expensive tier of the software.

Shift really keeps the number of windows/tabs and applications to a minimum. Before shift, I had 3 different browser windows open, each for a separate email account. Now I just have one and can free up the clutter of my desktop. Recently with Shift Pro Advanced, I can now link my other task management applications like slack and asana so I have all details in one place. I've cut my workflow time in half just because I don't need to keep switching windows.
The only con I can think of with this product is the price of the Advanced version. The jump from pro to advanced is quite large for the lack of extra features you get.

easy to install and setup multiple email accounts. uses very little resources and is quick to start after starting up your machine. very attractive pricing makes this a good and simple platform without breaking the bank.
I have had to reinstall a couple times due to some conflicts with windows 10. conflicts include getting a white screen when opening my inbox on a few of my accounts, removing and signing back into the account does work either (issue with cached data maybe).

It is amazing. I hope that the price will drop in the future but we will see.
Shift has helped me stay more organized and not have 100 tabs opened at all times. It connects with all of the apps I use on a daily basis.
Nothing yet. I pay for it personally since my company won't pay for it. I don't know what I would do with out it.

It's GUI is less messy than the tab bar of a web browser. It's prettier.
Shift is an app browser and email account "shifter". It most useful fonctionnality is to jump from one web email inbox to an another web email inbox from the same domain. Essentially it's a GUI that allow you to jump from one web app to another without the risk of closing the tab by mistake and having to login again.
Lacks integration with Roboform when I visit a web site from one of it's app. I didn't find an option to always open links in email in my default browser. Too much integration with Google apps. The price is high for what it does.

My overall experience has been pleasant with Shift. I do like having everything in one window however I just wish it was a bit cheaper.
I love how Shift is a central hub for your everyday apps and how easy it is to use. Having everything in one window makes your desktop a lot cleaner.
My only issue is that the cost is a bit high. There's usually a sale if you wait however at the end of the day the normal price is a bit steep to have the option to open less windows.

For a company where all of our tools are online, it makes a great central hub for all daily work. And the tight integration with engineering tools is nice.
I love Shift. I have 2 google suite accounts, Microsoft ToDo, Spotify, Confluence, JIRA, Evernote, 1password, Linkedin, Twitter, Facebook, and Bitbucket all hooked up. I used to have 2 monitors and lots of windows up at the same time. Now I can stay in a single app to do all of my work. Especially nice is the ability to install Shift on my home machine, where it instantly pulls down all of my accounts already setup and ready to use. Very nice.
Spotify keeps breaking, but the local app is a workaround. Plus it is a pain in the Google Suite apps to have to switch back a forth from the left icon bar and the top right icon bar (for calendar, Gmail, and Drive). I would love to see it all consolidated on the left. Plus it is kind of expensive, but luckily I was able to expense it.

The biggest advantage to Shift over multi-inbox solutions is that there's no modification to the native Gmail interface, and there's no clunky panes or buttons that most Chrome extensions tend to tack on. There's a minimal learning curve so once you load your email info you can start using Shift right away. App integrations work well, and notifications from them seem reliable in my use. Shift is way more convenient and responsive than having multiple Chrome tabs and multiple desktop apps open.
Some non-Gmail-specific context menu plugins I use with Google Chrome obviously aren't available inside Shift, and the included context menu is fairly basic. It's not that big of an issue though, because any links open quickly with Chrome. I do wish the Advanced version with app integrations was cheaper, but the integrations are quite handy.

Overall my experience was good, but I decided that it did not provide enough value beyond just using a regular browsers with multiple tabs. It's a great idea and if the functionality was a little smoother I may have kept it.
It organize my e-mail accounts along with some of the other project management tools in one place and formatted in a nice way.
I didn't like the functionality with some of the apps. Some of the apps din't maneuver well within Shift especially when opening a new window.
Thank you for you review! We're sorry we weren't able to keep you on as a customer despite your overall good experience with Shift. We'd love to hear which apps specifically were not maneuvering well for you and anything else that may have made the difference in your decision. I love not having to constantly switch screens and having everything in one place. The layout makes this clean too.
It could incorporate more apps and Drive sync could be more seamless. That said, I think it's cost is pretty steep. I don't know if I'll keep it after this year for that cost.

see Pros...
Ability to quickly check all the gmail, calendars and drives of my google accounts easily...; Ability to quickly switch between all the gmail, calendars and drives of my google accounts easily...; Ability to quickly compare all the gmail, calendars and drives of my google accounts easily...
... when doing many activities in parallel, extra clicks start to cost time & overall Shift System slows down some dealing w/ multiple activities at the same time; which is what you would expect. Luckily, since Shift changes nothing "Google", you can then go back directly to the pure Google World for these instances....

It's good but I likely wont continue using it... If there were cheaper option or a free option I may give it more of a shot.
I like the options and how integrative it is (or at least could be if you decide to pay for it)
I didn't like that the advertisement shows you the full version, you then have to download it to try it and only then does it tell you about half of their features you have to pay for.

Overall I think I am better organized and respond to emails more quickly, which is crucial in my business.
I love having all of my accounts in the same place. I work in two email accounts every day and switching back and forth between Chrome users gets annoying. It's great having those accounts, my calendars, and my other work products all in one window.
- It does not come cheap. It's convenient, but it's also an investment that you don't *really* need to make. - No mobile app - Sometimes one or two accounts will crash

It preserves the gmail experience and adds the value of having it in a separate application, not a browser. Add in the ability to use drive, calendar, and other apps as well, and you’ve got a great tool that really streamlines your overcrowded computer.
Honestly, nothing bad to say. It just adds value to the gmail for web experience. If you want a different client, go find one. If you love gmail but don’t love it living in a browser, then you’ll love shift’s simplicity.
