Bitbucket: Best bid for no buck

Reviewed 2 years ago

Seamless, all worked as expected, clean user interface. Only the git client for Windows/Mac, SourceTree, is not as good as most commercial products. Go with Fork instead, for example.

Pros

Best of all is that the free plan comes with all options I need as a freelance programmer. I can host and share my repos and get invited to other person's or team's repos. The help files and docs are also quite good.

Cons

The gold standard in the (open) source code community still is GitHub.

Version-control made simple

Reviewed 4 years ago

It is a very good service with a generous free account, usage and services. Ideal for individuals and small teams. Being part of Atlassian's portfolio you can smoothly integrate with their other softwares and services.

Pros

One of the best and most reliable version-control repository. No greedy business pushing you services or limiting your usage, giving you enough liberty to work on private repos even using a free account. I have worked on more than 20 projects and it never failed me. And being part of Atlassian's products portfolio we can easily integrate with other useful workflow tools.

Cons

You see, I mainly use Bitbucket integrated with SourceTree, although many developers abominating Git GUI softwares, but being a game developer sometimes it is a better way to visualize all that mountain of files, assets, images, etc. So, my negative feedback here is about this integration. Sometimes both services don't communicate well and I end up wasting valuable time trying to find the problem from my side, just to find later, that the problem was in their side. For example, authentication issues has happened more than once.
