Good alone. Great with integrations

Reviewed 3 years ago

I have been using BitBucket for more that 3-4 years now on various projects. Usually to handle repository management. It's a pleasure doing code reviews in its UI. I have actually often pushed my code and started a PR just to better review my own changes when dealing with larger batches of work. Will most likely give pipelines and deployments a try very soon.

Pros

Reliable code version management platform. Good UI for doing pull request reviews and tracking changes.

Cons

Encountered some issues with commit numbers when quering Branches versus what was expected after a merge. Personally do not trust merges requested directly on the platform.

Great option for private repositories

Reviewed 5 years ago

Bitbucket is a fully functional code repository storage on the cloud and browser. We are able to organize all of our repositories in a logical order, search them, and do everything we need within the online interface which is quite intuitive.

Pros

Unlimited private repositories on the free plan. This also has great integration with JIRA since it is an Atlassian product. This works great for our small team since it is free up to 5 users.

Cons

They have recently dropped Mercurial support, so that will require us to do a migration of older repositories that are still in Mercurial, adding an additional workload that is not necessary at the moment.
