GoCanvas Features In Depth

App Builder

One of the most important features that GoCanvas users can enjoy is the App Builder which allows you to create highly tailored apps to meet the most demanding and specialized needs of your business. With drag n drop functionality, all you have to do is to simply choose the elements and place them where needed, with no coding skills required at all!

You can further edit your app creations if necessary and your users can be automatically notified when those updates are made. All you need to do is sign in, click on "My Apps" tab, and from there you can create new apps or edit existent ones.

PDF Designer

The PDF Designer is a drag-and-drop tool where you can place the fields in your app in the exact location that you want them to be located in the output. Whereas the GoCanvas App Builder allows you to edit how you capture data, the PDF Designer gives you control over the appearance of your data.

Create beautifully designed PDF reports that are unique to your business without having to hire a graphic designer.

Presenting popular categories such as Construction, Field Service, Healthcare, Government and Inspection, and less popular like Real Estate, Fitness, and Energy, you can effectively start using GoCanvas in the blink of an eye.

Database Integrations

GoCanvas apps can be integrated with Salesforce, Box, Dropbox, Evernote, or Google Drive instantly. When you integrate your apps, a PDF of every submission will be sent to that service's account to be stored there.

GoCanvas also has connections with tools like Zapier, which give you access to thousands of additional integration possibilities to programs like Quickbooks, Access, and more.

Reference Data

This is an advanced feature that allows GoCanvas app fields to be filled automatically by retrieving information from a given database. For example, if you select a customer’s name within your app, his/her address and phone number will automatically appear in the GoCanvas app without you having to type a thing. Type in the serial number for an engine you’ve repaired and immediately see the name, manufacturer, and price.

This feature is not only a huge time-saver but also ensures that the data filled into a form are free from error.

It has a contemporary look and feel, great mobile app, easy to integrate 3rd party tools or systems, the collaboration, communication and assessment tools are the best. easy setup to make courses public or private or combined, good support, good availability for integrate with external systems. provides an array of extra features which makes in one of the best LMS on the market

Cons

The layout of the site is well organized but it tends to confuse on certain occasions due to the large number of options and features. it takes a long time to adapt to the environment, Nevertheless, once you get how to use it, worth the effort. the mobile app does not support all types of documents (it is not a recurring error, I have not been able to reproduce the error)

Pros

The fact that all of forms are in one place, and supervisors can fill forms out on their smart devices in the field and send all at one time. This not only saves time but money as well.

Cons

That it adapted to my business and not the other way around. That it is cost effective. Last but not least, that 99% of my clients love it.

Technical Support a complete joke! Crashes constantly, but does the job when it works.

Works offline with acceptable crash recovery and only 10% loss of data when it crashes.

Technical Support? What Technical Support? I have placed 13 phone calls in one month to address mission critical bugs - 12 of them went to voicemail and were never returned. I ended up calling sales who basically told me to send a ticket (which also didn't get addressed). By far, the worst experience I have ever had as a paying B2B customer, and I just pray that I don't ever get an issue which I can't figure out my own workaround. Employees are constantly jumping ship and the social media is drinking the cool-aid. Basically if you have an issue, you are on your own, especially after you convert from trial. During trial they were occassionally responsive but once I'm a paying customer.

I would like a better formatting tool for photos - depending on the device the photos mucking up the formatting of the out put I want to be able to remove some of the Canvas logo stuff on the output It would be great on the PDF designer if there was a built in ruler to assist with design of forms

Pros

The fact that Canvas takes away so much extra leg work behind the scenes, freeing up time for our employees to focus energy on more critical tasks.

Cons

The only recommendation I would have is to make functional improvements on multiple departments or groups sharing the same apps and functions. For example, a franchise group with several locations that need to keep consistency with apps across the locations

GoCanvas Apps has improved our field correspondence

We've worked with GoCanvas the last 2 years to make our field foreman paperless with all of their forms including Field Reports, Safety Inspections and Meetings, Request for Information, and Extra Work Orders.

Pros

Forms are easy to create, just send your current ones to GoCanvas and for a small fee they convert for use on laptops, iPads and smartphones. Data can autofill from a spreadsheet we maintain and upload quite easily.

Cons

The form you fill out on your iPad, phone or laptop does not look like the final PDF form. You gather the info on a rather bland layout, then send it to GoCanvas who re-formats the info into your professional looking PDF.

Pros

I've been able to design it exactly like we wanted and make multiple changes through our testing process and immediately see the changes.

Cons

I've struggled a bit with the calendar/dispatch feature. Maybe some more clarifying help files on this will do the trick, but there doesn't appear to be very robust options on pre-scheduling dispatches across the country.

Canvas manages to reduce the amount of physical paperwork to such a degree I don't know if we could ever go back to manually doing the majority of what we use it for again without some *major* pains across all departments.

Cons

While the platform works for most of what we would use it for there are some issues that are only evident when using it for various IT administrative functions; e.g. no fields for data formatting that is unique to an IT function like IP addressing requirements, limited support for handling handheld scanners, lack of time-stamping for what account has been updating what data, etc.
