Automate all the things!

28/11/2016

IFTTT gives the facility to use recipes already made by other users and also the ability to create your own recipes depending on your needs. It has a wide support for almost any popular web application on the Internet, including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Buffer, and many more! I'm using IFTTT to automate these social media accounts for my Start-up and is working synchronously without any effort!

Pros

Huge array of services (channels) that can integrate with this platform, with lots of example 'recipes' from the community to inspire ideas. Allows integration between two or more different services with ease without the need for any programming knowledge or similar in a 'set and forget' style way. And maybe the best of all is that it's mostly free to use.

Cons

Some recipes are no longer working, most of the times because the services integrated changed something and it kinda takes some time for ifttt to be aware of this and remove the recipe.

Great Integration Tool for Android (iOS too?)

22/06/2016

We are a small catering company that receives lots of inquiries every summer. I use my phone a lot to keep track of these calls and IFTTT is a helpful part of that toolkit. In combination with Pushbullet it allows me to sit at my desk and still catch incoming calls and text messages. I use it to keep a call log, turn on and off wifi when i leave the house, remind me and my team about impending rain (We need to keep our equipment covered and dry) and most importantly send my wife an email and text whenever my phone is below 15% battery. At the time a lot of these things seemed like frivolous extras, and now I can see that they are a a real benefit to my work flow. Perhaps the most important is when I need to call the work day to a close. My phone automatically switches into silent mode at 8:30pm every night except for nights we have events. In addition to f.lux on my computer this is a further indication that it is really time to go to sleep.

Pros

Free Recipes provided by others Works every time

Cons

recipes not that complex, need to make your own if you want more power (not really a con)

IFTTT makes integrations simple

18/03/2016

We utilize IFTTT to supplement our free version of Envoy Visitor Management with extra features, like notification emails and confidentiality agreement repositories - features we'd normally have to pay for to have Envoy take care of them. It's a great solution and works very well, and we've since expanded our initial IFTTT setup to include extra fields that Envoy is collecting into our notification emails so that they are more useful to the receiving party.

Pros

Free is free, can't complain there! IFTTT is very robust in the number and type of actions you can make it perform, as well as the different types of integrations between other software systems (such as Envoy).

Cons

Some notifications can be delayed, for instance when someone checks into Envoy, occasionally it can take up to 15 minutes to receive the notification email. I'm not sure if it's a limitation of Envoy or IFTTT, but it happens. It doesn't really matter to us though as our notifications are used for logging purposes and not real-time activities, so it hasn't been an issue.

Great Automation Tool

25/01/2016

I should thank the person who invented this. IFTTT helps me to control the products and apps I love top use. IFTTT helps me to save my time by helping me to connect my favorite services like Evernote, Pocket, OneNote, Instapaper, etc. IFTTT is working in simple logic, If this happens then do that.

Pros

If this happens then do that. I have connected Box.com and Instagram together. Here IFTTT helps me to automatically save my all photos I posted on Instagram to Box. There are hundreds of recipes available that helps us to connect each other.

Cons

I can't say any disadvantages about IFTTT because it helps me to get my work done easily than any other web services.

Set it and Forget it

12/11/2015

IFTTT recipes allow me to focus on my work rather than constantly check this or that or write myself a reminder to do x later. I use IFTTT for business and personal things and it keeps me productive and on-task while IFTTT does the work in the background.

Pros

TONS of apps available for recipes! I've been using IFTTT for about three years or so, and the app keeps growing and offering more options for users. They make it easy to set up by taking you step by step through the recipe creation process and even recommend recipes based on what's trending, what other recipes you've created, etc. I periodically receive an email from IFTTT with new recipe suggestions. Always new and creative ones!

Cons

If you're not careful, you can get lost in the rabbit hole of IFTTT recipes because there are so many! So this isn't actually a bad thing, but remember this app is to help you stay productive, so keep that in mind while browsing recipes.
