I use iDrive mainly as a disaster recovery fall-back. the local cloud backup copy is synchronised with the cloud once a while to assure easy access to data if something will happen to the local cloud.

I mainly wanted to use idrive as a cloud storage solution, not to backup my devices. However, the process of uploading all  my files has been painfully slow, and if I try to upload a large set of files, it often fails and does not upload all of them. Very frustrating experience.

After Amazon Drive let us know they were shutting down the service, we were forced to search for an alternative. We backed up our professional photography every day using Amazon Drive for years, and were happy with their service because we didn’t have to think about it!We researched alternatives and found IDrive. The transfer of our files was easy even with our large quantity of files. Our internet provider actually called us to make sure everything was okay since we were transferring such an unusually large amount of data but we didn’t even have to think about the process once we started.Amazon drive is basically a hard drive online but this one requires us to synchronize with our computer.

Great for cloud backup

I used I drive some years ago but had reliability issues and so switched to another product until their offering  was withdrawn, so I tried iDrive again and found that the issues I experienced before had been addressed. Having used it for 3 years now I have not changed my opinion. It’s feature set is modest and adequate, but somewhat lacking for the local backup option, which should be viewed as something of a bonus, rather than a reason to purchase.

Capable and reliable

I had a network access drive go bad and it contained the only copy of my files. It cost $1,200 to recover the files. IDrive solved my problem of have icloud back up and access in a secure environment along with a local backup.
