My experience went well when I used this software for my online class. I’m not an good artist at all so whenever I need to design something or create a project Visio is the first thing that comes to mind to use.

Pros
I liked Visio software because it helps people learn how to draw. It’s like it does it for you. I only used this software when I was registered in an online school for six months.

Cons
The price Microsoft Visio cost is not worth the price. I understand that this software is new and unique but lower the price a little bit for the sake of low income users.

Overall, Visio is fine. However, I don't think the price justifies the features. There are other options out there that are much cheaper or even free that will do what I want.

Pros
I can easily make basic charts and diagrams with Visio. I like how I can store multiple diagrams in a document for my projects.

Cons
Sometimes, it can be very frustrating to do simple things like move connector lines exactly where I want them.

The program is great. However, we use eDraw Max most of the time instead of Visio because it was so much cheaper and is very close to the Visio quality level.

Pros
The software works very well. It's extremely flexible and can quickly and accurately display a very complex and detailed amount of information visually.

Cons
The price seems very high for what it is. It's not included in Office 365 or any of MS's other packages. There are a number of other options.

Visio get the job done, just as well as the other free/low cost options out there.

Pros
The good thing about Visio being a Microsoft product is that you have the cloud storage capabilities and interoperability with other MS Office products.

Cons
The bad thing of course is the monthly payment for the licensing (if you're on Office365). yes, it's simple to work with, but that comes at a higher than average price for diagrams and workflow designing.

The best graphical tool for illustrating technical concepts

Pros
I create a lot of documentation which is used by non-technical staff and Microsoft Visio helps me a great deal in bringing new concepts to life and to assist in stakeholder understanding of new and improved workflows and business ideas. The product is continually upgraded to include new functionality and is a real winner in my opinion.

Cons
I find that the pricing is quite high for such a product and it is the most expensive in the market. There are many other applications which provide similar tools to Microsoft Visio far more affordably and if pricing continues the same, there will come a time when users will be deserting the application in favour of a more affordable one.

Pros
I always go to Visio when diagrams such as flowcharts, networks, processes need to be created. Customization is easy as icons, shapes, text, colours, etc., can all easily be modified within the interface. Visio also makes data conversion easy, as you can convert your excel spreadsheet data into a flowchart (which is linked so when you update one the other reflects that change)

Cons
Cost factor, it is a bit on the expensive side. However, the online plan is much more affordable.

Clumsy

Visio is a good tool and serves many purposes. I however, only want it for Data Modeling. The other features are "noise" to me that I wish were not there. Plus, some of the data modeling features are in the more expensive versions. I would rather have a dedicated data modeling tool with the features, but without the "noise". Visio is not for me.

Pros
Visio has many of the features that I need in data modeling. The various tiers of products gives multiple price points for the features.

Cons
Some of the features that I need the most, such as creating DDL scripts for data modeling, are not available in the base model and the cost to upgrade is expensive. It also is a general purpose tool that has many templates that I will never use and that makes the product clumsy to use at times.

Excellent program for basic drawing or floor plans

Quick diagrams, floor plans and flow charts. Easy interface and well priced for companies.

Pros
In the past we were using more complex software packages such as Autocad or Illustrator to do some basic outline drawing for presale sketching (we're in the printing industry). Although we still use those software now for post sale work, we do a lot of presale stekching with Visio. It is simple, and allows to do up-to-scale plans quickly. I have also used Visio to do floor plans (office design, room dimension design) and although it does not have the visual aspect of some design software available today, it is very efficient in terms of planning for space, door placement, windows, furniture, ... Finally, we also have used Visio for flow charts for our quality system (ISO), and others.

Cons
Slightly expensive for personal use. Otherwise for the intended use, I see no real problem with Visio

MS Visio May Have Competition...

I have enjoyed having Visio on my work computer. My company paid for the program, so I didn’t feel the cost impact. I can’t say that I would recommend it, though, given the current price tag.

Pros
As an Engineer, I frequently have to put together presentations with data and graphics that put large amounts of information into easy to read and concise figures. Visio is very helpful in this capacity, especially when mapping out a process. Building the flow chart is an intuitive process with customizable features.

Cons
Although all the features are there, the software package can become fairy expensive if purchasing it for yourself. It is not included in the standard MS Office suite. Secondly, nowadays, there are plenty of websites offering freeware to build such flow diagrams that rival the quality and customizations that Visio offers.
