We use Jira on our own servers. We benefit from many features such as task management, agile, and kanbans. It also simplifies our sprint planning processes. I like the epic and story features the most. Moreover, if you use it on your own server, it is so easy to customize as you wish. Especially, it provides you great documentation, and when a new member joins the team, they can easily adapt to the whole process through the issues in Jira. We use Confluence for our documentation processes, it is especially useful for our technical documentation processes.
Easy team task tracking, efficient sprint planning, and organized confluence. All and more is very easy to use and adapt. Epics and stories help you to divide the project into parts and assign divided tasks within the team. In this way, you can follow all of the elements of a project in detail. And no step escapes from your attention. You can also distribute the workload very planned and provide team collaboration.
Sometimes connection is low. But overall, it's really beneficial.

I've had a mostly positive experience with JIRA, however there are a few things that JIRA could be doing better given the relatively high price tag--I would like to be able to do more customized reports/dashboards, and I would like to be able to create JIRA filters with stronger capabilities
Ease of use for both business (access mostly front-end reports, dashboards & Confluence) and developers (access mostly JIRA boards)
I'm currently trying to work with our developers to integrate Azure DevOps (where the code is housed) to JIRA in order to track code and link code with JIRA stories that are worked on. The apps to do this in the JIRA app store aren't great and we're encountering more issues than we expected. It seems as though JIRA integrates with a (soon-to-be) outdated version (might be using the wrong words) of Azure DevOps that my team no longer uses.

Jira is a very popular tool amongst product managers and developers. Thus, a lot of the people in your team might already know how to use the tool and hence you do not need to train the team.
1. Works like bug tracking tool 2. Efficient project management tool 3. Easily assign the issue to anyone 4. Easy to search any existing story 5. Drag each of the stories into a single spring. You can prepare sprints in minutes if you have already created stories. All you need to do is assign a timeline to the sprint.
1. It is a complicated and heavy tool. Thus, it needs dedicated tech personnel to manage the same. 2. There are cheaper alternatives in the market.

It is pretty good... not a lot of bugs and things like that. It just ended up costing to much for the functionality. I pay one price for ALL tools on Azure DevOps - including a full deployment pipeline. This is drastically missing in JIRA.
It is pretty decent for running a team. If you don't really care about devops much, it is a perfectly good tracker.
I hated getting nickled and dimed with integrations for documentation (confluence) and source repository (bit bucket). It is also missing a lot of usability features that they just haven't kept up with in the lines of sorting and searching.

As a tester, I am using Jira daily. My main activities are creating/updating bug tickets, updating task statuses, arrange and planning my future work. Jira is a great tool, on a basic level, it is intuitive to use. A huge amount of functionalities that are built in and integrated make work much more efficient. Bug and task tracking are easy and quick. Everyone with access can check what is the progress or the latest updates on a selected topic. Customization of features is amazing, Jira admin can adapt almost everything to the company's needs. If anything is not clear, customer service is happy to help and assist with all queries. In case the existing functionalities are not enough, it is a possibility to install external plugins from the shop that can extend capabilities. On the other hand, Jira can be problematic. It is a huge software with a large number of modules that can interfere with each other. Especially if modified by an inexperienced admin, e.g. a small change in a workflow can affect all projects that are in the company. It is vital to know what are you doing as an admin. Also, if users need new functionality, it can be reported in the Jira forum, which is tracking similar requests - unfortunately, a lot of them are there for years without updates, despite users constantly asking about that. I assume this may be because of the software itself, but explanations would be nice. All in all, it is an amazing piece of code despite the high price and minor problems!

In a few words JIRA is a task tracking software that makes life easier when working on a project. Once the initial setup is in place (easy to do for common scenarios ) all is left for an administrator is to manage the list of projects and user accounts. Note that parts of the process (e.g.: customizing workflows) need to be done up-front, since this will become more complex once one or more projects are configured and in-use As for usability, it is one of the best tracking systems I've ever used: as a developer/QA you can easily update the status of your work in a user-friendly way. As a manager, you can always get the overview you need by just opening a screen or a report (most of what you need is in place by default) What's best about it is that as long as it is installed on-premises, it can be used as a central point of information for everyone involved with a project. The fact that it can be integrated with other common software industry tools adds further benefit from this. In the end, I should probably add that I've been using all kinds of bug tracking systems for about 15 years (starting with ancient tools like redmine going through PivotalTracker or VersionOne or JIRA) and almost all of them were either missing features that I deemed important or "spartan" usage/layouts that constraint the usage. JIRA just provides everything that's needed in completing a project out-of-the-box (whether it's Agile, Waterfall or Kanban or whatnot)
- Overviews & quick access to information - Possibility to integrate with most commonly used systems (it integrates with pretty much all mainstream tools, nut just the ones from Atlassian) - you can integrate it even with continuous integration tools or test management tools (e.g. TestRails) - Security control (everything is fine grained, tools to configure fine-grain access are already integrated - Comes out of the box with the most common work scenarios (client onside/offsite, development only/development + product management, etc) - Reporting (easy to extract the things that matter (whether this is worked hours or development velocity) - Version management (easy to manage what features are grouped in a release, or what fixtures were done for which version) - Workflows can be customized to match just about any real-life usage scenario - Allows for both on-premises (self-hosted) installation and cloud usage. - Configurable dashboards
- Pricing - it is prohibitively expensive for small companies, although they are making steps to minimize this with the new pricing models (e.g.: a few years ago they started allowing up to 5 accounts per project and unlimited projects, for a fixed yearly fee).

Jira is itself a technology I will say. I have been using this software for more than 5 years now. With both as a user and JIRA developer. With almost more than 5 years of my career, JIRA helped me in each and every project no matter what process you follow KANBAN, Agile all the tasks, projects,users, tickets can be managed by using JIRA.
JIRA provides a solution for almost all project management issues. A lot of companies are migrating from Service now to JIRA software due to its pricing and features. Jira has a lot of subsidiaries and compatible with third-party plugins and apps. Easy to use, customizable to list a few.
No cons as such but yes with the complex features provided by JIRA software will require good knowledge or hands-on to go with.

I have been using Jira for the past 3 years both as an administrator where I manage and optimize its performance and on the other hand I have also creating projects, workflows, screens and users. Jira is very helpful for those organizations also who wants to track their releases whether its small or big, or short term or long term. Jira provides facilities through which users can log in the timeline of their work and invites other developers in the team to provide their inputs. This will make your project to be connected at one place and moreover this connection in now not only limited to companies site Atlassian also offers cloud based solutions too. The best part of Atlassian Jira is they always ahead in the race which gives you more options to expand your creation, I have implmented few projects in Jira where I have implemented full automation of logging the task and reporting it through Jira, and then assigning to right person. This whole process works very easily in the JIRA

Expensive for businesses who are medium size Upgradation of the software from one version to another requires real IT skills If you want to keep Jira running smoothly it has the indexing feature to make it faster but sometimes those index gets corrupted and no one can help in restoring those data.

It is very flexible and customizable which makes it easy to manage every different kind of software projects whatever the size of the product is.
The flexibility of the system comes at the cost of usability, so it is a little more complex to use the advanced feature of the system like their query language

The scrums boards are a delight to the heart while beginning each day of work. Work of software developers has become easy. Workloads can be fitted in a scrum board to manage the tasks effectively. It gives a view to keep a check on the completeness of individual work.

I am working as software developer, therefore I use Jira on daily basis for 3+ years. This is a great help to see the bigger picture.
After trying quite a lot of progress tracking apps for teams this is the one I like the most. The design is really intuitive. And there's a lot of customizing options and ways to automate management processes.
Not that easy to set up and quite expensive even on standalone version.

Once I started using JIRA, my productively gains were so noticeable that whenever I'd start a new freelance project I'd set it up for myself even if I was the only developer. It helps me easily scope out a project, line up a todo list and start knocking out items without trying to remember what next. Also greatly increases visibility for non-coding management/stakeholders into progress being made.
Excellent feature set and extremely affordable for small development teams. Easily setup Kanban or SCRUM boards, sprints and tickets for task tracking. For power users, offers a custom query language and tons of customization options to build a workflow that matches what works best for your team.
The only thing I disliked, was the inflexibility when it comes to attaching sub-tasks and bugs to existing tasks. AzureDev Ops supports an Epic->User Story->Task->Sub Task->Bug->Test Case. JIRA only supports 3 levels (Epic->User Story or Task or Bug->Sub Task).

We have stopped using JIRA at this point due to the cost vs. the team size we have these days, but it served us extremely well when we were using it. I was not one of the individuals to set it up originally, but I was tasked with administering it once those individuals left the company. Overall, the administration of the software was pretty simple and straightforward, but I found it difficult to add new boards, tables, etc. when I found it to be necessary. All of the customizations and plugins are super useful if you know what you're doing from a tech standpoint. Many plugins come at an additional cost, and that cost is set by the developer and will vary. I would definitely recommend using JIRA for large teams who need or would a good degree of complexity for tracking projects they are working on.
You have the ability to implement many extra plugins that have been designed specifically for JIRA. There are a lot of customizations you can make within the interface without the need for addtional plugins as well.
There is a lot of manual setup required. A lot of times, it seems like you need to create multiple pieces within the console in order to get something working properly. When I would set up new boards and categories, I found myself having to redo my work on a few occasions because I would miss a setup when setting up certain references.

I understand the value of JIRA when you are working in software or web development. And the integration with additional services like Bitbucket and Confluence are extremely attractive. Recommending this to others is all a matter of whether or not you need a developer-centric, configuration-rich platform for issue management.
JIRA is great for managing a high volume of issues and tickets. As a project manager, I appreciate the ability to create numerous filters and dashboards to keep track of issues at a high level. I also appreciated that whenever a new idea or workflow need arose, it was more than likely possible with the right configuration or add-on.
There are times when I wish the platform were simpler and had fewer configuration options. At times I was paralyzed by how to proceed with a workflow update because the control is so granular. That may be a less attractive aspect for me, but I'm sure others love the granular control.

The feature of Open DevOps that I enjoyed the most was its versatility. Because to Open DevOps' open source nature, I had access to and control over the platform's source code, which allowed me to adapt it to my unique requirements. The platform also offers a vast selection of tools and services to facilitate and speed up development and operations. In conclusion, Open DevOps offers a practical and successful method for creating, deploying, and managing cloud-based applications.
It was a little tough for me to browse and the interface was a little perplexing. The resources and choices I required to handle my projects were hard to come by. I also thought the pricing structure was a little difficult to understand and a bit confusing.

JIRA is super powerful and feature rich. It keeps us much more organized and minimize the need to contact developers everytime a status update is needed. The learning curve is really long, but the payoff is worth it.
JIRA has helped use organized our tasks/bugs and projects for many of our clients. For it's cost the benefit to our business has been amazing. We are much more organized internally now and can communicate to clients about the status of a ticket without having to contact the developer every time.
JIRA is quite complex and features rich. There is a tough learning curve for any features beyond the basics. It took a lot of time and patience to get things set up.

Implements all features needed for a scrum workflow. I especially like the multiple hierarchies of tickets with subtasks, which e.g. GitLab has not implemented as good.
You shouldn't use Jira with a very low powered pc, because performance is a bit bad in those cases

All our Agile projects are fluidly run through it with our 7 developers. It's truly a fantastic workflow tool.
It's really easy to use and set up any type of configurations you need. Running projects is simple and creating and managing tickets is effortless. It's fast and no bugs, I can spend all day using it without issue. Since we're a small shop, it's cheap too.
I don't really have anything bad to say about it. It really does exactly what I want it to. Maybe some updates to the interface? I don't know, i can't think of anything that needs fixing.

I love everything about Jira.. I have been using it for many years now so I can not imagine any workday without Jira. I am currently working as a software developers team leader/scrum master and in our company, no one used Jira before I came here. So I convinced everybody that we really need Jira to work more effectively, to improve productivity and the quality.. and yes, it was a lifesaver during the coronavirus lockdowns while everyone was working from home.

I like this product. Its lite, simple and easy to use. Made tester's and developer's life easier.
Ease of use. Easy to report and file a bug. Keep a track of the reported bugs. Quickly access details of work done. Quickly access the aging bugs, the progress done. Check if its a regression etc.
Not really con as such, but can be definitely improved, especially integration with Eclipse or Visual Studio etc. can be incorporated.
