Pros

He helps us with the various projects we have in the Company, which is the most important part of my job. It perfectly supports project flow and helps us create flawless projects.
The user interface is great and give a lot of opportunities. It is a great tool to examine for further developments.
Secure, feature rich, great support, great performance, easy to learn development environment.

Pros

Using AEM from 2 years and its pretty good CMS tool.customer service is really great and they are pretty quick and knowledgeable. I have also attended the adobe training which is also good to have.
The Adobe experience manager is a must, especially the experience asset management which uses the Artificial Intelligence (AI) power to get the best results for your business.
The level of customization and development capabilities are best in the business. We run everything on through AEM.

Cons

Difficult to do an on premise implementation and dealt with disaster recovery.
The level of training and information for people with some knowledge is weak. They are either very confusing documents, or it is all very vague.
At the beginning we had some doubts but now, we do have lots of apps including core business apps. Honestly, without Outsystems, I just cannot imagin how can we would face covid crisis.

Cons

Because it can do everything under the sun, it's hard to navigate and difficult to see all of it's functions. The support contract is almost as much as the software.
Learning how to use the software can be incredibly frustrating.
There are some peoples who will definitely be intimidate by the shear depth and breadth of the software. I suggest getting youtube fired up.

Took a long time to believe "low-code" would be able to deliver on it's promises

Reviewed 3 years ago

I'm sure I was annoying. It took me a year with the Sales team to go through my due diligence. So far it's been a terrific experience.

Pros

Completeness of product offering Knowledge & Experience of Technical Staff Partnership Ecosystem

Cons

I am still bootstrapping the product, but so far there is a disconnect in maturity from how to build to how to deliver. They are working on a more complete code repository, branching model, code review, version management offering.

One of the best low code Platforms

Reviewed a year ago

Many companies have used Outsystems to build web and mobile apps. I have worked on a project which create a high UI density , responsibe web app for a world famous investment bank in UK. For most business usecase, the Outsystems platform is a very good choice. The Outsystems team is also very talented and they listen to community feedback.

Pros

The intuitive development experience which makes developers highly productive as well as brings a joy working with Outsystems platform.

Cons

The pricing is slightly on a higher side and it's bit complex. Compared to Appian(another low code platform) the pricing is slightly complex. Also Outsystems used to have a way to target Java for code generation which was removed since Outsystems 10

Reduce Time To Market

Reviewed 3 years ago

We are totaly involve, and we are migrating a lot of the organizations solutions into the plataform, our POS solution, delivery hand held solution, our transportation manager application (Oracle TM), and we also create a custom CRM levaing behind the SAP CRM solution.

Pros

The plataform enables us as a company to colaborate and implement agile solutions, innovations all across the organization, IT is not longer the bottleneck to promote that innovation, we are now a strong arm that the company relay on to create new technology, solve company issues and bring agile solutions to our customers (internal and external)

Cons

We are using de Paas solution and that by definition "retrict" the core in depht administration of the infrastructre, but we are working with Outsystems in order to have more control or visibility of the complete infraestructure, we need that 'cause we have core company solution on the plataform and need to monitor in depth the transactionability and guarantee as much as we can the availabilty

Good for rapid development, but not necessarily high customization

Reviewed 3 years ago
Pros

The software offers the capability to deploy software at a very rapid pace. The process to set up a basic front end is very intuitive and can be done by someone with no front end development experience. Building back end processes can also be done relatively easily be someone with little back end experience. This has the potential to close the gap between front end and back end development.

Cons

I am an front-end developer and if I am trying to build an application that looks pixel-perfect to what my design team wants, this can be a very tedious process. OutSystems has the capability to customize css but it is not very straightforward and I am often digging in the browser dev tools to figure out what classes are styling what elements. My experience would be greatly improved if I could see the markup that the OutSystems point and click application creates.

Outsystems for End User Developed Applications

Reviewed 3 years ago

Certainly a great experience, its benefits, easy of use, quick adoption made Outsystems our go to solution for end user developed applications

Pros

Outsystems has a short learning curve, allowing non-technical users to quickly develop solutions for their business needs. Also provides a consistent user experience, where different solutions look and behave the same.

Cons

There were some development roadblocks to create workflow based solutions, while the platform provides workflow design capabilities, it may be cumbersome and complex for non-technical users. Also there are some limitations to generate standard printed reports, with column values, grouping , subtotals, etc.

Becoming a real application engineer with OutSystems

Reviewed 4 years ago

OutSystems allows us to become an agile department, giving us the opportunity to replace our old legacy system by building up a new, more flexible system, while delivering value and useable features every two weeks.

Pros

What I like most about OutSystems is the ease of use. Having no former IT experience, OutSystems allowed me to develop valuable features for our new system within mere weeks. Thanks to being low-code, OutSystems makes me feel like a real application engineer.

Cons

Likely because I have no former experience with any kind of IT software, I sometimes don't know what tool to use; there's so many of them! So I would have liked some more 'info balloons' on when to use which tool.

OutSystems - Great developer opportunity

Reviewed 3 years ago
Pros

OutSystems is Low-Code, the best thing about this is that it enables people with less coding experience to be able to develop without any difficulties of writing the whole code by themselves. Instead it allows you to build logic and see your development in action.

Cons

OutSystems is a great tool but I feel that the Code merge is quite troublesome and we suffer often when working on the same component and the apps built with OutSystems are sometimes slow.

10 year software development with Outsystems

Reviewed 5 years ago
Pros

Outsystems enables software development to be way more faster compared with common development using C#.NET or other languages. Integrations with external systems with SOAP and REST are easy to be implemented off the shell, but a developer can always implement specific libraries for other integrations. It's easy to make simple queries but it's also possible to create specific database scripts (T-SQL, etc) and run them from the platform, if necessary. It's also easy to implement a good framework architecture with Outsystems, since modules can be easily reused by different End User screens.

Cons

As it is very simple to develop applications with Outsystems, it can also be the source of some performance problems if the developer does not have much experience. But that's not a specific and unique problem of this technology.

The Low-Code System

Reviewed 3 years ago

Very good, I've never seen a developers tool which allowed a new user to start developing so quickly and beneficially to active and new projects.

Pros

The excellent learning curve and smooth experience with which you can quickly learn the basics and start developing almost immediately. The clean interface and avid promotion of the use of a 4 layer architecture makes it very easy to read and understand what your peers have done.

Cons

The separation of web and mobile apps, I would prefer to see them more as a whole which should be coming with the new Reactive Web. Though keep in mind that you can link the two as is.

OutSystems

One of the most efficient Mobile device application development environments

Reviewed 4 years ago

Outsystems was chosen as a platform to rewrite a legacy product developed over 30 years and bring it into the cloud. It has been a really good choice for an organisation that had no web or cloud experience and has helped avoid many of the basic mistakes that could otherwise have been made. Whist there are some limitations on flexibility and price the benefits and speed to market far out way these.

Pros

The Outsystems development environment it very easy to use for anyone with previous development experience as well as being a great place for those with little or no development experience to come up to speed quickly. • Allows fast prototyping whilst keeping good consistency and a polished appearance • Provides a good balance between continual deployment and traditional dev-qa-prod staging • Enforces inter module dependency integrity • Enabled good UI-Business-Data separation whilst still allowing for RAD • Good merging and conflict detection when multiple devs are working within the same module • Projects and applications are rock solid and stable once released • Easy to bring non Outsystems developers up to speed • Realy good certification and training material

Cons

• Priced at the high end and not cost effective for small scale development • Shows some signs of instability in the publishing process with very large and complex projects • On the PaaS version you are heavily restricted on access to the infrastructure and cannot get access to simple functions such as SQL replication or database maintenance options. • Lack of skilled developers with pre existing Outsystems knowledge.

Reviewed 4 years ago

Very Satisfied with our current experience and support.

Pros

Outsystems is a user friendly development platform that adds agility and productivity in a dynamic business environment the demands immediate results to maintain a competitive advantage. Outsystems provides continuous upgrades and features, excellent documentation , and to notch support. Try Outsystems today and be a HERO!

Cons

The challenge in using Outsytems is the learning curve involved to integrate with your current environment when solely using as a front-end. The templates and demonstrations are very well, but documentation and is limited when using connectors or REST services to connect to your existing database. It would be helpful to better document best practices for developing a 4 layer canvas architecture and the use of structures and lists. Not a deal beaker through.
