Pulseway Features In Depth

Remote Monitoring

It's important for IT professionals to immediately know when the systems they’re managing experience any issues. The problem is they can’t possibly be tied to their desks all the time. Pulseway tackles this issue through a remote monitoring app you can take with you wherever you go and use whenever you’re connected to the Internet.

It lets you monitor everything in real time – servers, workstations, applications, updates, system resources, hardware sensors, websites, and SSL certification expiration – from a mobile app dashboard that’s easy to use. You can shut down applications, restart processes, enter maintenance mode, schedule tasks, run PowerShell commands, lock workstations, uninstall software, browse local files, read event logs, and chat with users. Anything you can do while on site, you can do in an offsite location with Pulseway.

Pulseway can be set up within minutes. Download the appropriate agent in the system you want to monitor, enter your account credentials, validate your account, save the configuration, and start the Pulseway service.

Security, Encryption, and Restrictions

Pulseway implements multiple security controls to ensure the privacy of your data and that your infrastructure is inaccessible to unauthorized users. Aside from two-step authentication, all communication is fully encrypted based on AES session encoding and RSA public/private key exchange.

Restrictions for each mobile device can be implemented by setting up device access rules. Commands issued from a mobile device can be limited, and specific mobile devices can totally be denied access. Notifications are sent to you for each device added to the account, and for newer iOS devices, you can enable fingerprint authentication and create an access PIN through Touch ID. Pulseway also logs every command sent from a mobile device.

Alerts and Notifications

Pulseway comes with out-of-the-box notifications that are divided into 10 different category settings: status, performance, process, ping, storage, event log, hardware sensor, performance counter, server module, and service. You only need to enable them from the Notifications tab of the Pulseway manager installed in your system.

For notifications not included in the list of preconfigured ones, custom alerts can be specified. Priority levels – critical, automatic, elevated, normal, and low – can also be assigned to notifications. Depending on your account’s configuration, notifications are pushed to your mobile device or sent as email messages.

Application Monitoring and Management

To remotely monitor and manage your cloud applications and services with Pulseway, the Cloud API for.NET and Java platforms are directly implemented in your app or service through a few lines of code - no software installation is required. Once set up, you’re ready to send commands, receive real-time runtime data, and modify runtime parameters from your tablet or smartphone.

For information you can’t immediately access because you’re not in front of your computer, the Cloud API can be used to fetch the information you need from the server, such as the number of products sold for the day. Notifications can be sent to all registered mobile devices, and the alerts pushed to your phone can also contain commands to be run when triggered.

Reports and Analytics

Pulseway reports provide actionable insights into the systems you’re monitoring. They contain values that are critical to fully understand the overall health of your IT stack and then take immediate action so issues don’t escalate into full-blown problems. Report types include average CPU usage, memory usage, and installed software.

System logs can also be forwarded, and you can choose to receive statuses on processor usage, disk space usage, network speed, the number of users logged in, ping round-trip time, and ping responses. Audit reports, which can be sent to you via email, include system details, BIOS information, operating system details, and IPv4 and IPv6 addresses.

Mobile Device Enabled Enterprise Monitoring, Alert Notification, and Management

2015-05-21

I've used the Pulseway product for several years and have found nothing else that comes close to its extensive monitoring, alerting, and management capabilities.

Pros

Mobile-enabled management Enterprise-level capabilities for monitoring and alerting Audit logs Deep insight into operating system and service management System Grouping Easy to setup and to use Low cost per instance (<$2.00 per instance) Remote management via any device or browser Real-time monitoring and notifications Low barrier to entry into true enterprise monitoring, alerting, and remote management

Cons

You have to manage groups from the endpoints, but soon (I believe) you'll be able to manage groups from the Enterprise console application and App.

Monitoring and Management - anytime, anywhere!

2015-05-22

None have made attending to any alerts or issues throughout the infrastructure this quick and easy. Offering a single pane of glass for your entire infrastructure, you get the information you need, in a format that's efficient, and can attend to issues from your phone!

Pros

With direct integration with various services used throughout your environment, Pulseway offers immediate access to resolving issues, without the need to hop between different management interfaces, control panels or other systems.

Cons

Nothing of importance - my last point noted with the Pros is the passion shown by the vendor - this nullifies any real shortcoming because every criticism/suggestion I've had has not only been attended to, but are slated for release with future updates!

2018-04-17

Pros

It just works, it's reliable. Its mobile app is so convenient and easy to use.

Cons

Disk/RAID health monitoring should have some sort of native embedded monitors instead of relying on Event logs and manually creating them.

Powerful data collection. Weak Reporting.

2017-01-05

The agent has a pass-through Remote Desktop gateway that can come in very handy and a nice standalone desktop app for just systems alerts if you want to have a dedicated monitor in a control room to look at.

Pros

Very powerful data collection options.

Cons

Very poor reporting options.

Pros

Pulseway is designed to operate in a single pane of glass architecture.

Pulseway is an Amazing RMM

2018-03-08

Pros

Pulseway is affordable and very functional for managing customer servers and endpoint devices. The mobile app allows technicians out in the field to achieve more than any other RMM software on the market.

Cons

I wish they would spend more time on the remote support interface giving technicians a little more features to utilize from a remote terminal feature.

Pulseway.

The most useful part I've discovered though is the push notifications for individual servers and systems, because within a very short amount of time of something happening to a system, you can respond to it almost right away, keeping efficiency at a high level.
