The latest upgrade to TwinMotion and the Unreal Engine is second to none.

Reviewed 2 years ago

This is a great suite of design software that allows you to make impressive photorealistic renders and environments. The latest release improves upon the lighting effects which add great depth to your designs. I am impressed.

Pros

The end result from the render engine is second to none. Many times I have had my renders mistaken as real images. This is a great piece of software.

Cons

Slight learning curve but once you get a workflow this suite of software is remarkable.

Unreal Engine: Totally an Unreal Experience

Reviewed 3 years ago

Unreal Engine is not only a game engine, its an all-in-one package for 2/3D designing, be it games, product videos, trailers, characters, landscapes and what not. Given its complexity it is not as easy to use, but the documentation is amazing, which makes it very easy to learn how to navigate around Unreal Engine.

Pros

Everything! Unreal Engine is one of the biggest open sourced game engines available and is totally free. One would expect that since its free it would lack features as compared to proprietary engines, well, they are wrong. It has everything, from managing simple 2D animation to complex 3D designing. Blueprints on the other hand provides an excellent utility to "write" code by simple drag and drop attributes, without the need of writing code.

Cons

Since Unreal Engine is not developed for having one application in mind, it has certain design flaws which in my opinion are acceptable. For example, it is not as straightforward as a highly sophisticated engine has which is made for a particular task, say 2D character animation. Although, Unreal Engine is powerful enough to do almost anything if one knows their way around it.

Unreal Engine is your next 3D game engine!

Reviewed 2 months ago

Unreal Engine is very powerful compared to other engines I used. But it is one of the more confusing ones to learn if you are starting out with less coding knowledge.

Pros

Unreal Engine is a great game engine for developing AAA games. It is very powerful compared to other 3D game engines. It can run code in C/C++ or in the visual Blueprints code.

Cons

It is hard to get to know and it is pretty hard to understand the layout at first glance. They do charge 5% if your game makes over 1 million USD in total.

The one that create Fortnite

Reviewed 4 years ago

Great opportunity to use the same engine that created graphically beautiful games and very popular games.

Pros

It made arguably the most popular game and is able to constantly feed an audience with new features. You can get started for free; however, you definitely need to be trained in the UI. If you have the time and resources, definitely go for it.

Cons

Why did Epic Games have to pick a fight with Apple. Apple is punishing all users of Unreal Engine from updating their games so that's not cool but hopefully it'll blow over and we can update the games.

AAA Engine at an indie price

Reviewed 5 years ago

Fantastic but it is definitely geared toward AAA and AA teams who have a few titles under their belt. While they've vastly improved the new user/newbie experience it has a long way to go to catch up to Unity in terms of onboarding.

Pros

Great workflow, super easy to get started, looks fantastic out of the box, has a well documented support base, native dark mode, blueprinting is fully compatible with C++ now, and a very robust community surrounding the engine.

Cons

It can be a real resource hog especially if you're running less than optimal hardware, the content marketplace is dwarfed by Unity's Asset store, C++ is much more complicated than C# or other engine languages like GDScript/Python, and their licensing structure for royalties leave a lot to be desired.

Hands down one of my favorite out-of-the-box engines to work with.

Reviewed 7 years ago

As stated in the initial review, Unreal Engine is hands down one of the greatest engines on the market, and due to a combination of the educational resources and integration of tools into the development pipeline, I can saw that it will probably be my go to engine for the foreseeable future.

Pros

Epic has really taken the cake with Unreal Engine and the suite of tools within that can be easily integrated into any game development pipeline. I've had the pleasure of working with this engine both on my own for courses I've taught and within a development environment and it is hands down my favorite game engine to develop on.

Cons

In the past, the resources for learning how to use the engine were lacking, but as of late, Epic has done an amazing job at putting out free resources that allow people to get up to speed on the various aspects of the Unreal Engine 4. This alone opens the door to new users and helps out tremendously for those who are new to game development of some of the latest features.

Unreal engine helped us to build High quality games

Reviewed 4 years ago

I am using unreal engine for almost a year, initially it was quite difficult to learn the software but when i come to know about it's features i was impressed, no need to go to different programs. this software is an all in one package for us. it is really powerful software for studios and game developers

Pros

One of the best features of unreal engine was the graphics of unreal engine is very impressive we can build games we can create cinematics and animations, it's a complete package for gaming studios. we can do modeling landscape, create a complete game using unreal engine.

Cons

One drawback i faced lots of time is that the lagging issue, when we add assets to the unreal engine project it lags a lot. and also it crashes several times and also the interface is quite hard to use but still those who know how to work on unreal engine they can build some amazing masterpieces.

Very Simple To Use

Reviewed 5 years ago

I have used Unreal Engine to practice with developing games and get more experience. It took me some time to learn but it was worth it to start developing powerful games. It helped me get more experience with my designing and programming skills. Overall, if you really want to make games then this is a great engine to do it with.

Pros

Unreal is a very powerful engine that you can use to make pretty much any type of game at any scale. It is free for anyone to use, which is great if you are just starting out and learning. I like that you can easily develop for a number of different platforms and have a way to quickly test them. It's also popular so there are many tutorials made that can help you learn.

Cons

Unreal Engine might not be the easiest software to learn when it comes to making games. It has a larger learning curve than other engines and can be very overwhelming when you are just getting into developing. There also isn't as many plugins as other engines such as Unity.

Forse il migliore motore di gioco in assoluto

Reviewed 2 years ago

UNREAL ENGINE "A GOOD COMPETITION FOR 3D REPRESENTATION SOFTWARES"

Reviewed 3 years ago

I have used this software the last 6 months, and every time I like it more, lately i use it for 3d virtual tours for architecture projects and i love it

Pros

Unreal is a very good rendering software, which is very easy to learn and use, one of its main characteristics is that it gives you very good results for the time you work, many things such as lighting, reflections, etc. are very simple with this software and you don't need to watch tutorials for a long time. The interface is very good and you can start with a default template which will help you a lot depending on the project you want to carry out. Being a software focused on realistic representation for video games, it also works very well on hyper-realistic representation for architecture. you can create renders and 3d animations with very good lighting and rendering of textures.

Cons

One of its problems is that there is not a large community of people who use this software on the internet, so it is very difficult to find references and examples on the internet, besides that it is a very heavy program and requires a computer with good specifications to run perfectly.

True AAA engine

Reviewed 5 years ago
Pros

There are so many things I could say about this software I am not sure where to start. Lets start with the wide range of skill levels that Unreal Engine can accomodate. Everything from beginners to programming with Blueprints to hardcore programmers who want to optimise everything and never leave Visual Studio, I am somewhere in between. The tools within Unreal Engine such as for creating terrain and mature and well rounded allowing to create a nice level with relative ease. Definitely ahead of other engines in this regard.

Cons

One con that comes to mind is to do with Unreal Engine pricing. They take a percentage of your income which in my opinion is ridiculous. However, I understand as they should definitely be compensated if you create a game which makes money.

Unreal Engine for Creative Visuals

Reviewed 2 years ago

I never knew anything about coding when I started using Unreal Engine but I stood out because of the Blueprint Visual Scripting which is within the software package.

Pros

What I really enjoy about Unreal is it's ability to provide much larger control over physics and graphics elements which makes creating visual effects easier and realistic.

Cons

I find my computer freezing often which made me think that the software requires somehow a much stronger graphic card to render graphics.

Definitely advised for a novice game creator as it is simple to learn and cost-free!

Reviewed 2 years ago

Overall, novice and experienced game makers should definitely try it. Personally, I've found it enjoyable and have made numerous 3D environments. Even while it could be challenging at first, with little practice, you'll get the feel of it.

Pros

The user-friendly and approachable design of Unreal Engine is excellent. You don't need to be a programmer to use it and obtain results with it that are helpful. Thanks to its user-friendly interface and rich toolkit, you may use it at any level, from beginner to expert. It offers superior graphic technology and material editors compared to its competitors, which are very helpful to game designers. Unreal Engine's visual scripting makes it simple to create a game even if you've never programmed before. The engine is already capable of running a huge variety of games.

Cons

To be expected with complex software, some of the capabilities are understandably challenging to learn. Finding the logic required to use the Blueprints is the hardest part. Because Unreal engine offers so much to offer those looking to create levels, import animation, etc., it could seem intimidating at first.

A game changer!

Reviewed 7 years ago
Pros

I have used Unreal Engine 4 on a few projects already and I can say for sure that it has saved us time over other engines by it's great workflow and there is so much documentation available to help you out whenever you encounter any issues.

Cons

I don't have much that I don't like about Unreal Engine 4, but my complaint would be that sometimes Blueprints is almost too robust and it's difficult to figure out the most optimal way to script something.

The perfect software for game developing.

Reviewed 6 years ago

As someone who does not know how to code (programming), i loved unreal. Unreal uses the blueprint concept for coding, which makes it so much easier to code. But i love to set up an environment in video games, so unreal is perfect for that.

Pros

Unreal engine is the best software you can get for game developing. It is super user friendly, pretty easy to learn the basic, it looks good (good UI design) and the community is super active. It's super easy to find any documentation or to find answers to your questions on forums. Since Unreal Engine is free to use, everybody is using it, so everybody post questions, articles or answers. Also, very powerful software, we're talking about the most used game engine on the market (gears of war, batman arkham, XCOM, fortnite). And big thumbs up to Epic games for making it free to use for anyone.

Cons

You need to have a pretty good computer to be able to use it. I mean it's obvious, but be ready to have some lags.

I love the Unreal Engine and i would like to see it even more in video games.

Pros

Unreal engine in video games is the best game engine a have ever seen. I think that people working at Epic have something really special and that they need to continue their work towards the better world for gamers. I loved the Unreal Engine first in the UT games, and i loved it ever since.

Cons

Sometimes it can be a little performace heavy. But not to much.

When you want your game to look great out of the box.

Reviewed 6 years ago

When building a 3D game in an open-world environment, Unreal Engine is the obvious first choice. Networking support is more mature and games look great without much tweaking. Unfortunately, for 2D game development, Unreal Engine is not the first choice. If visual scripting is your go-to then Unreal Engine is an excellent choice.

Pros

Compared to other 3D game development application , Unreal Engine provides a more aesthetically good looking game presentation that competing products. While Unity developed games can look very good, they require more tweaking and use of substance editor and additional assets to reach the level of realism Unreal Engine achieves from the start. Visual scripting support is built-in and is a mature tool compared with competing offerings such as PlayMaker or FlowCanvas for Unity.

Cons

Editor layout took a little getting-used-to compared with Unity. 2D game development support is not as robust or mature as Unity's built-in support.

It's Unreal!

Reviewed a year ago

My personal overall experience with Unreal Engine is extremely positive. When I get inspired to make a beautiful 3D scene, I instantly go into Unreal Engine to create amazing lifelike 3D Graphics.

Pros

By far, the most enjoyable feature in Unreal Engine is the stunning graphics it is able to produce; all with a click of a button! Unreal Engine is by far the most powerful game engine available to the public.

Cons

Of course, with stunning graphics comes cost of performance. However, Unreal Engine manages to keep these hardware requirements rather low in today's standards as it utilizes its feature of streaming assets to improve performance. Unreal Engine's least great feature is the hardware requirements.

My experience with Unreal

Reviewed 5 years ago

This software is really nice and works great when it comes to big, long term, more professional projects and when you have a specialized team working on it. Not recommended for beginners looking to experiment or individuals who want to try and create a simple mobile game. This engine is meant for more AAA games and projects. If that is what you need, you will find that this software is amazing and offers really cool high-tech and high-quality tools and features.

Pros

*It is super complete and has a lot of interesting tools and features * High-Quality software for 3D projects *Create AAA games *Rendering tech is fast and efficient. Runs pretty smoothly *Works for a team of specialized people *Works* with C++

Cons

*For simple games, it may not be the best software. *Not recommended for a single person, more like a professional team. *Intimidating interface *Pricing may not be affordable for everybody *Takes time to learn how to use it and master it, it is a specialized software

What is not to love about a AAA game engine that is given to you for free??

Reviewed 2 years ago

It's been a really good one. Their support for it is really good and they make sure to include their people that know the particular areas of the Engine really well that you are utilizing.

Pros

I love how incredible powerful it is yet still remains relatively easy to use. It has pretty much every feature you could need and if it doesn't, you can add it since its open source. You have an incredibly powerful tool at your disposal. You can use it from everything from games, to architecture visualization, and whatever else your imagination can dream up.

Cons

The Editor needs a pretty beefy computer to run well, especially when you need to build the lighting in a level. You can set up cloud services to assist with this though, but that's an additional cost. It does so much that there are some things it just doesn't do well, yet. Like the multi-user editor environment; it works, but you have to jump through some hoops to get it to work and it gets out of sync easily.

I am a PC gamer, and have used games that run on Unreal Engine for quite some time

Reviewed 6 years ago
Pros

I love gaming, I love games that run on Unreal Engine. As a PC gamer, the quality of games and how they run is very important to me, and games built on the Unreal engine are beautiful!

Cons

Nothing. I've never had an issue with games built on the Unreal engine. I have heard people say that it uses a lot of resources but I've never had that issue.
