My overall experience with the Unreal Engine has been a blast. I learn a bit every day and I try to get accustom to all the software related to unreal in some form or another.
The software is free and there is a lot of free assets on the asset store. There is a booming community and there is learning material everywhere.
There is a very steep learning curve when it comes to game development. Sure you can do a bit with the engine but the engine needs to be paired with the knowledge of different fields such as modellin and asset creating in a different program .

Overall, they have started to release linux binaries. Thus, one era was closed and another era was opened.
As a VR developer, I don't have much prose experience with real-time gi, but I really enjoyed lumen with engine 5. I can easily say that lumen is definitely one step ahead. it provides the artist with the opportunity to test the scenes he creates with a fast, dynamic and perfect feedback/result.
What I dislike the most is that for many years you have stubbornly not offered a prebuilt binary package for the linux version, forcing you to compile an entire editor instead, and allocate 100gb of space (for one version) to compile just for this job; A game engine that causes you to keep a computer that will also compile in order to change versions (both upgrade and downgrade) during the active development period.

It's free to use, has a large number of useful features, and royalties aren't much of a problem for most indie games.
Nothing, I've been using Unreal Engine for various purposes for 20 years.

I Love it keep it up. I hope this will be great. I can't wait to make more games
I like how you can build games for free. Most of the software's cost money and all the games tons of other people have made like Fortnite is great
I don't really think you could change anything because its great.

I'm a 3D artist with very little knowledge in programming, but the Blueprint system allowed me to easily implement my characters and make playable demos and scenes. The templates are are the perfect way to start and get things going.
Softwares crash, and Unreal is it known for frequent crashes. Marketplace could be better.

It's a complex software but that is because of the capability the Software has itself, there is a lot of tutorials on youtube that can help you get started but it takes time to get used to it.
This software lets you go beyond limits in 3D gaming creation, if you really are a prepared game devoloper and/or have a team this can lead you to making the next top hit game.
No cons were added to this review

We use this software to make simulation internally. It's not easy at start if you use c++ but if you use bluprint, it's very easy. If you need to make some simulation or visualization, it's a good engine. I didn't use it for making a game but it's probably very good at doing that too.
It's hard to make first things but after pratice, it's more easy.

I use unreal for architectural rendering, I really like this software for its rendering speed, I believe that this software will grow very fast and will have more and more tools to make it even more incredible.
From its innovative technology, which allows an extremely fast and high quality rendering, generating almost instantaneous calculations of light bounce.
The software is still far from comparing itself with other great modeling and rendering software on the market, in terms of tools. Its interface is still very primitive and could improve a lot. But I believe that this software with each new update is getting better and better and it won't take long for it to be clashing with other great modeling and rendering software on the market. Undoubtedly, it is the most promising software for the gaming and real-time rendering market.

I was part of a game enthusiast group interested on development of a digital game. After some research, the option was to use Unreal Engine given its supposed potential and, by the fact that some of our preferred last generation games were built by the giant companies in the gaming scene, based on this Engine (search for "best Unreal Engine games" and, you'll be surprised). The experience lasted half...
Ease to implement level design, Large library with pre-defined graphical elements, Ease to integrate with 3D modelers such as Maya or Blender, Capacity to compile your games to many different platforms, Very nice tutorials available through internet for beginners.
At first glance, seems quite confusing given the large number of options but, be persistent. It is not possible to start it without checking some basics tutorials as it is not an intuitive framework.

It has an easy and immediately understandable use. Very powerful games and simulations can be developed. You can learn to use it with a little research on the internet. It is possible to prepare powerful graphics for the computer.
I wish it had better performance on mobile devices.

When working as an indie developer, Unreal was the most universally appealing engine. It had a low grade learning curve, blueprints made scripting accessible to more team members, was the best overall solution for our projects.
Unreal is the cleanest and most straight forward engine I've used, while producing the best quality output. Tools like the material editor and features like the landscape painting layers make the experience feel more organic and intuitive than other engines. Volumetric fog and dynamic lighting feel comparatively magical. Feels less cumbersome and more fully featured than other options. Easier to achieve artistic vision. Better optimization and expense management.
Plugins and support community are less open and accessible than some other engine communities, and not quite as accessible for multiple platform applications.

Gameplay Engineer and Game designer, have been using UE for a personal project
UE is the go-to for any AAA game development. The features, render system, and C++ coding base, makes this a one-of-a-kind engine, with a great community and great support behind it, as EPIC is making games with UE, to prove it's worth all the time
The pricing range for indies is somewhat complex, and the marketplace has much fewer items than the competitors, but this trend is changing every day.

Having a quality engine with many resources available has cut an unimaginable amount of time and stress from my project, as well as giving me the support to not give up in frustration. The support links and staff were a huge help when needed.
The availability of so many resources allows you to work on your product instead of all the micro-tools you will need prior to designing your game.
It's a little overwhelmin at first, it's not that you can't understand it as much as each project is so different they can't "click to build" their console, making it difficult to find your starting steps.

With this tool we can create our game for a platform, then create ports for consoles or Android tablets with great ease. Unreal Engine 4 is one of the best tools when creating 3D games. The beauty, detail and fidelity that can be achieved are enormous
Even the smallest games will weigh a lot in terms of hard disk space and memory on the PC, so you should consider those details.

It is a powerful gaming design engine that boast a huge array of feature. From creating simple smart phone games to blockbuster games, this program can do it all. With the ability to design using real time graphical editing or the ability to behind the scenes and edit the code itself, it is great for novices and experts alike. There is also a create community behind it and many tutorials.
It is a very steep learning curve to begin using it in a practical sense. When you first load it up, the screen is bombarded with windows, and tools, making it very confusing to make sense of it all as you start. The real time graphical editing also is resource hungry on your computer resources, so I reccomend using a modern computer.

You can easily find documentation. and the forums are active. It's also free and open source.
Unreal Engine is one of the most amazing systems to create any kind of games. You can prototype a game really fast using several options to create a new game.
There is nothing that I dislike, however Unity 3D came to stay and day-by-day Indie game developers are choosing to build their games with Unity.

I have started learning Unreal as a way to tell immersive stories through games.
Unreal engine is exactly what it says it is "Unreal". As someone born in the Nintendo era and a professional storyteller through other mediums (Video/Writing). I find the accessibility of Unreal as the future for entertainment and immersive storytelling. I'm really excited for future generations to have access to this and how it is nurtured and promoted. How the game playing creates friendships across wifi. It is so cool and one of the best aspects of modern life.
The learning curve may not match with ambitions. This is a heavy undertaking, but well worth it and a genius platform and language.

Overall, Unreal Engine has been great so far. I don't know if I'll ever finish my game, but at the very least, it's been good to practice with. It's intimidating, but once you get the hang of it, it works very well.
I've been using the Unreal Engine to create a game of my own, and even though I have limited experience with programming, it's been great so far. You can start using the software for free, so it's great to practice with, especially when you consider the amount of tutorials present. I appreciate that it can be used for more than just games—you can just create videos and graphics with it, if you please. It's a versatile piece of software. It's also updated fairly often, and each update comes with new features, bug fixes, and more. If you have a problem with Unreal Engine, chances are it will be fixed at some point.
Unreal Engine is a popular product, but getting into it can be really intimidating. It's not for beginners, which I wasn't aware of going in. I'm used to it now, but those hurdles starting out will probably scare off a lot of inexperienced users.
