Pros

Very customizable, easy to use, and fantastic support. This has really made managing alerts and on-call so much easier, and we've always had helpful and friendly support when needed.
Splunk's purchase of VictorOps gives the opportunity for major improvement and excellent customer support.
A really good product supported by a great team.

Pros

It's an incredible programming for examination. I love the perception highlights since it transform drilling information into fun outlines or diagrams.
The ability to filter to the specific metric we are interested in is an amazing feature.
It is a good data analytics and visualization software and its ability to import data from multiples sources is a great feature.

Cons

For years we have had to manually manage our on call rotations throughout the organization. This linked with the wide range of monitoring tools, problem management has been difficult.
This has caused issues with emergency on call coverage. Second is no having a location, out side the alerts and incidents, to house knowledge base type documents.
SSO integration is still awkward to set up and use, and there still aren't nearly as many integrations as with PagerDuty.

Cons

Could be frustrating to use when first starting as it would give you an error message but provide no specifics on what is wrong or directions to fix it.
I find it a bit frustrating when presented with a visualisation that doesn't represent the particular angle on the data I am looking for.
Had to take some training courses and even at that it was still confusing.

Best Visualization Tool

Reviewed 3 years ago

I've been working with Power BI for 3 years in a Manufacturing and Call Center company and also I've used Power BI many times in college

Pros

I like everything about Power BI, the usability, the features and options of graphs and charts.

Cons

I think that Power BI should be more flexible with it's Table and Matrix visual.

Microsoft Power BI

I used this business tool in my work as an Process Intelligence Analyst at Univera.

Reviewed 4 years ago

I was able to integrate it into a fairly outdated Microsoft office suite, so that was really useful for me. My organization uses a lot of legacy software for security purposes, so it was nice to have a Business intelligence tool that can be easily deployed "out of the box", as opposed to some newer tools. I was fairly easily able to generate reports, pair it with an ETL tool that I was using, and pretty much speed up a few reporting processes.

Pros

It's features are extremely robust and has some of the best integration for data warehousing of any "off the shelf" tools. I think Power BI is great for medium scale companies and ventures because there's a ton of support from Microsoft and third party companies as well. Most large organizations, in my experience, should have enough staff with Power BI knowledge to call on as business experts.

Cons

I think some aspects are a bit counter-intuitive to use. Power BI's does help to make users more comfortable with it though. I also think that the heavy reliance on cloud services makes it a bit harder to integrate some legacy systems that aren't well configured into the BI environment.

The Power of Power BI

Reviewed 2 years ago

The capability is based on how creative that we can get and use the functionality available.

Pros

The extent of customization and capability as a database, curating data, analytics, reporting and dashboarding is amazing

Cons

I wont call this a Cons...Setting up the whole BI environment may not be that user friendly but i'm thinking that may not be that easy to simplify further and there is a large element of expertise required to use this optimally.

PowerBI - Is it for everyone?

Reviewed 4 years ago
Pros

PowerBI is a powerful data visualization program available as a desktop app (PowerBI Desktop) or as a cloud app (PowerBi Server). This makes it very easy to utilize whether you are chained to your desk or out on a sales call or presentation. The number of ways to visualize your data are too numerous to count, and reports can be Section 508 compliant (US Government standard for Americans with disabilities) with just a few clicks. Plus, report themes (used to make your reports more colorful) are easy to create and use within PowerBi.

Cons

New users may encounter a steep learning curve, but Microsoft's online documentation is robust and covers any issue new or seasoned users would encounter.

Powerful tool for visibility of data across organization

Reviewed 5 years ago
Pros

Power BI is easy to set up, and has many different data connectors. You can try it out for free, and it is already included for your organization if you have Office 365. It will take some training (especially in the DAX language) to have it work to its full potential (as with any software), but it is better than all of its competitors, which cost MUCH MUCH more.

Cons

Not a lot for cons. Microsoft is sometimes slow to follow up on requests through UserVoice and on the online PowerBI community.

Create stunning interactive reports with PowerBI

Reviewed 2 months ago

We use PowerBI for all our internal reporting. It is by default the set standard internally, and we have real-time dynamic interactive dashboards which are reviewed on a weekly basis. We have core PowerBI teams which support these dashboards and keep on adding new charts based on team's requirements.

Pros

1. Relations: is one of the greatest concepts introduced by PowerBI. You can create data relations and then alter them in real time to see changes in dashboard. This is very powerful if you have dynamic reports which keep on changing with time. 2. Drag and drop dashboard creation: is also very powerful. Backend coding is automatically handled, as long as the source is accepted in PowerBI. This makes things super-easy for newbies and even any without any PowerBI knowledge can build beautiful real-time dashboards.

Cons

Learning curve for complex dashboards is huge. Its not easy to create and maintain these dashboards in the start but with time, things become pretty easy. Great documentation is available for PowerBI official and since it is widely accepted, community also back-up this software quite well!
