Basically No agent installation required. Visually appealing dashboards with good data presentation. Additional functionality available through the installation. Customization can be done according to our requirement and the Application Provides a wealth of information and great dashboard with drill-down competence. Easy to implement and we can connect to all wan sites in a seconds matters. Alarm color can change for easy recognize and Mapping, Dashboards, Monitors, Actions, NTA, APM and CM Latest version is reliable
No support for Microsoft Hyper-V. Everything must be installed on-premises. No monitoring of any cloud services. it has 8 Alternatives to Ipswitch WhatsUp Gold(PRTG,NetFlow Traffic Analyzer,Intermapper,ManageEngine OpManager,NetCrunch,SolarWinds Network Performance Monitor and etc)
Thanks for the 5 Star review! Just an update that a few releases ago we added support for Hyper-V and now support the full APIs for and monitor performance and availability of AWS and Azure deployments as well.

It's great to monitor the network and get the notifications, but we really miss the scrolling maps.
We've been using What's Up Gold for almost 2 decades and it works well. It helps keep our users happy and less unexpected service calls.
We don't like that it doesn't offer the scrolling maps like we had prior. We upgraded from an older version that we used to have the scrolling maps on a large LCD monitor in our NOC so our techs could identify faults easily. The newest edition of this software doesn't have it. Seems rather resource intensive too (server side).

Benefit of proactively maintaining the full network
It allows me to monitor all of the network remotely. I'm able to monitor switches, websites, computers, temperature, etc. I just need to only look at my email to be able to see down statuses of devices
Taking the time to research how to configure monitoring takes up a lot of my time. Wish there were more instructional videos.

Email and dashboard provide a quick overview of your network devices at a glance. We utilize multiple dashboards to monitor network switches, interface statistics, server statistics, hard drive and memory usage, our virtual infrastructure, and even netflows.
Adding a single device seems clunky - you can't just add a device by ip - must be done by network scans.

WhatsUp Gold is a very good software to help us monitor all network components. It can receive SNMP traps as well. The GUI looks attractive.
The price is high. Sometimes it is not easy to find the required features. And the setup is not so easy.

WhatsUP gold is monitoring the same things, if not more, than an IT services company was doing for about $500/mo. This saved us a huge amount of money in the long run and was totally worth the configuration issues we had.
Customizable to monitor only the network parts/components that we wanted monitored. Able to set it to send email and SMS (via email) alerts to multiple users.
Network discovery was a bit slow and clunky. After a network change we had to delete the current monitors and do a complete re-scan or it doubled up the devices.

We've use this product for the past several years. Very stable application, very enterprise level monitoring and alerting.
Very easy to setup and upgrade. Easy to use interface. Netflow and performance monitoring interfaces are clear to read. Network graphics maps are pretty neat.
Do not like the current phone/table app offering. Need much. Interface could be a tad bit more responsive.

Quite an impressive tool, highly recommended
WhatsUp Gold helps to monitor network traffic for branches in remote location. It can easily notify on a particular network issue in a remote area which can be quickly attended to to prevent downtime. WhatsUp Gold also allows the easy monitoring of servers and applications.
- As helpful as this tool is, it should be modified to provide more details on issues identified

We were able to set everything up and have not had to make many changes after the initial setup to get what we were trying to out of the product
I have only use one other product to monitor our network and I have found that WhatsUp Gold is a better product by far and easier to use.
I wish that the price was a little cheaper but overall not a very expensive product to begin with when compared to others.

We are currently enjoying the benefits of using WUG.
Scanning ping-able assets to monitor for status, uptime, performance is extremely helpful to the IT team and allows us to be proactive instead of reactive.
I would like to see or learn how I can more easily configure multiple assets with performance, active, and passive monitors.

I enjoyed using the Windows application view and took a while but I'm now comfortable with the web interface. It provides a critical part of our monitoring environment.
The ability to easily monitor various items such as Services, Logs (via syslog), SNMP, WMI. Sending periodic reports via email to get snapshots of the system and network statuses.
Exchange application monitoring is thorough but almost too thorough. I had to adjust quite a few monitors to get a more simplified view.

It aids us in troubleshooting our network when a device like a switch or router goes down.
I like that it sends us notifications when a device goes down on the network. It allows us to be able to start troubleshooting before we get a call from a customer. The Network Traffic Analysis tool also helps us to monitor traffic and find potential problems.
I don't really have any complaints about the product.

We have tried other event notification softwares but for how familiar we are with wug and we’ll it works we will always trust it over anything else in our most sensitive networks.
What I like most is while there are many features that can be implemented the option to easily setup a ping monitor on a large part of the network quickly is easy.
Since being a long time customer we really miss the admin console.

WUG is simple to install. I have created devices I want to monitor quickly and easily. I can tell at one glance if I have a device down or not. Great for diagnosing network issues.
No cons that I can think of. This is a great product that any network administrator should use.

I have this on all my switch and SCADA network, on the switch I can break to see performance monitoring Switch interfaces, Utilization, Memory and CPU pretty simply, grouping is also a nice feature.
This product was easy to setup and scan your network, with a few clicks you are off and running monitoring your devices. Another nice feature is the up and down dependency which stops 100's of alerts firing off all at once. The mapping is a nice feature to see all of your network in one glance.
I wish this product was cloud based and a mobile app

Excellent experience, I can't complaint. It's a must have tool for every organization to perform a better approach in advance and to have a full network visibility.
It is easy to implement and use. It enables you to map all of your network devices and access them thru it. It helps you to have a full visibility of all of your network. You can also set the performance alerts at your critical devices as servers, switches, routers and firewalls. It helps you to get the bandwidth monitoring by devices and applications.
It will be great to have a full library of MIBs for all network security devices and not having to look by each brand site.

Provides great monitoring for network issues and machines connected to the network
The ability to monitor critical machines and connections to observer performance, switching, and other issues. We use email alerts which reach the IT team via email which we can get at our desk or on our mobile phone cuts down on the response time to resolve any issues. The backup configurations and archiving in WhatsUp performs very well. the application is used for both Cisco routers and switches.
Web interface functionality could be improved and will need to get additional training to fully utilize all the features available in What's Up for maximum usage.

We live in a very mobile world! I can travel anywhere and get text messages whenever something fails! I am always the first to know when something is down!
I have worked with many other platforms and the setup and configuration takes many weeks to perform. What's Up Gold can be set up in a day! It is extremely easy to work with. We monitor over 200 switches on our network. The notifications we get are very reliable!
Loved look and feel of Version 16.5. We are staying on that for awhile. The newer versions are much different and I am not ready to change.... my problem.

i really love the bandwidth utilization information on our network equipment and that also goes for our wifi network.
We mainly use WUG for SNMP monitoring of our network. This tool is quite useful for our operations team to use off hours. We have WUG setup to page the network team and/or our operations team can page when devices are down.
I would say my network map but I haven't spent a lot of time organizing it.
