Amicus for Small Law Firm

2020-07-14

This can be annoying if one is trying to upload/download large documents or use email during these delays.

Pros

Email, phone, task, calendaring, contact management, and document management, time keeping, expenses and billing are well integrated.

Cons

Client portal features need to be expanded to allow cases (files) to have finer level of access control when multiple clients within a file require different levels and different document access.

Amicus Cloud Review

2016-07-28

I have been using the Amicus cloud edition for over a year. It has assisted me greatly in creating and sustaining a successful business model and structure.

Pros

Ease of use, functionality, tracking, billing and invoicing could not be any easier.

Cons

Additional reporting options as well as a little more customizable features would be nice.

Recommendations to others considering Amicus Attorney

I use this software for medical and vocational case management. I found Amicus on accident performing a google search for case management software. It works well for other professionals (besides attorney's) who do case management and have a need for case management software.

Simple yet multi-faceted interface for case management

2020-03-31

It was a good way to handle the scale of operations, cases and billing information without getting too complicated.

Pros

The simple billing, case and time management functionality is a winner.

Cons

It varies in the depth and quality of integrations. It might work great with one tool but not so much with another.

Excellent software

2018-10-23

The best thing is that I can sleep at night without waking up wondering about this or that case. Really has improved my professional life and hugely improved my personal life, because the software really ties up the loose ends.

Pros

Handles all aspects of a law practice: (1) contact management (2) file management (3) document management (4) communication management.

Cons

Nothing comes to mind. Works pretty well.

Cost effect client management and time keeping software.

Review of Amicus Attorney

2016-07-26

This program is replacing another case management program.

Pros

The client portal is very helpful keeping in contact with clients and letting them know what is going on with their case.

Cons

You are not able to add multiple categories to documents; you cannot create a word document within the program; revising a document and saving is complicated - you have to save to your desktop and then save to case program - need to be able to directly save document into program.

Solid program and excellent support

2020-07-27

I have had a very good experience with Amicus especially with integrated file/contact/case management.

Pros

I have used it for many years, mostly for calendaring, contacts and file management.

Cons

Integration with SOQUEL serve can be tricky but customer support is usually able to resolve issues, and my own IT person handles what they do not/cannot.

comprehensive case management.

Pros

Interface is very intuitive and staff finds it easy to use.

Cons

Customer support is lacking. We have had to rely on outside consultants to a great extent for synchronization issues and updates.

I could not practice law without Amicus Attorney

2018-01-30

Excellent case management

Pros

I love the ability to access nearly a twenty year history of cases easily and effectively.

Cons

I wish that there were more free updates to the software. With so many changes in the tech industry I don't want to have to buy a new program every few years.

Good program overall, phenomonal help desk (seriously they are amazing), not really worth it though.

2020-03-30

Efficiency.

Pros

File management. Time management (ability to export to custom csv file is great)

Cons

Limited multiple monitor support. Amicus Anywhere isn't comprehensive (its not all of amicus, should be called Almost all of Amicus Anywhere). Very robust program that has a lot of capabilities of which we us maybe 50%, so sort of frustrating have to pay for that. Would be nice to trim down some options and get a better discount.

A wonderful program for client file management. Not great as a tool for sending bills.

2020-07-14

But the mediocrity of the billing component prevents me from calling this a top notch program

Pros

The calendar, communication center, and file management modules are invaluable and much better than just using Outlook.

Cons

The billing feature is very cumbersome and is not easy to use.

Great product, dreadful support

2017-02-02

But the service from the support team is disorganized, the techs are not sufficiently skilled and I continue to have problems with email and billing following an upgrade/install in December 2016.

Pros

Excellent law office case management program.

Cons

The customer support is dismally bad.

Functional Legal Database Program

2018-01-30

Helps keep track of time, calendar and files, which is a great feature There are always bugs or fixes with certain features that need improvement and on occasion the program behaves bizarrely; however, Amicus support has always resolved those issues.

Pros

It has everything in one - calendar, files, document management, etc. to help manage your practice and store data in one location

Mediocre at best

2018-02-05

Amicus Attorney Premium is functional for us, but barely so.

Pros

The concept behind the software is good in terms of its functions and cross-platform integration and that it provides opportunities for optimizing file management and project management efficiency.

Cons

Quite simply it is not robust, stable and easy to work with.

Overall, Amicus does what I need it to at a price point that is reasonable for my solo practice.

2018-01-30

Pros

I like the overall management capabilities and ability to keep track of time and bill. Although I have not used it yet, I like the client portal idea and ability to accept payments.

Cons

Good Program, I think.

2018-10-15

We use it to manage the calendar, maintain contact information for client files, make notes to client files, and for billing.

Pros

I appreciate that the calendaring, client management, and billing are on the same platform.

Cons

The software is probably much more functional than what we use it for.

Earlier non-subscription version very useful, decent value for cost.

2018-01-30

Pros

Extremely useful for legal case-management.

Cons

Current versions require subscription, which I will not do. (I do not rent software; I buy it.) Earlier non-subscription versions had some bugs ("Windows validation" errors, fritzy interconnection with Outlook).

It's only as good as the users

2019-10-10

Amicus Attorney is capable of being a one stop shop when it comes to case management, but your users have to be trainable properly and they actually have to use the program accordingly for this to be true.

Pros

Amicus Attorney is a very robust case management program with tons of beneficial features.

Cons

We deployed Amicus Attorney almost twenty (20) years ago. A lot has change over the years, some good, some bad. The decline in tech support has been the most unfavorable change.

Solid product but limited and antiquated.

2018-02-02

It kept us much more organized than our previous software and made access to our documents on any given file easily accessible.

Pros

I like the fact that the software integrated with our document management system, Worldox, and that it kept us much more organized.

Cons

I did not enjoy the fact that it had not moved to being web-based. The only "web" option was their sell of cloud-based pc's.

Using Amicus for 17 years

2016-07-27

I had researched competing software, and realized that the Amicus interface was far superior.

Pros

Ease of use for daily functions; time-keeping and seamless integration with PCLaw; calendar and to do features.

Cons

1) that a full featured cloud version is not yet available; and 2) that it does integrate fully with Worldox as a document manager, rather than the rather unhelpful document links within Amicus.
