Pros

Maintenance is awesome and worth every penny. Flexibility in use with other programs is absolutely flawless.
For me, the billing and reporting functions are great. Customer support is accessible, knowledgeable and a big help.
I have been using this software for over 15 years and I still love it. With every upgrade they have listened and thoughtfully made great upgrades.

Pros

My overall experience with CosmoLex has been excellent. The initial onboarding process was very useful and the data migration from my previous accounting software program was quite seamless.
The technical support has been excellent, both from their quick responsiveness and their ability to solve any issues I may have.
After trying more than 5 of the other solutions, Cosmolex was the best cost effective solution, giving me a complete package of tools for all aspects of my firm.

Cons

You have to do a reverse update to open and print old charges which is annoying when that info is needed. I print the bill each month so that I have the record handy.
Somewhat uncomfortable with use for flat fees.
It is very difficult to navigate and hard to learn if you are not trained well, and especially if you do not have significant bookkeeping experience.

Cons

Then why am I paying to use Cosmolex. Lastly, the customer service has been consistently terrible.
The only difficulty our firm has had has been in discerning how to remove or amend charges to clients once they have been billed and once payment has been received.
Second, when I chatted someone to find this "update" they could not find it or direct me to it. The lack of integrations (and the integrations they are getting) is really problematic.

Very solid. Now that I'm using both TABS and Cosmolex, I can see how TABS is easier in regards to entering time.

Pros

Loved the shortcuts when entering time for attorneys. Also like the "reprint single updated statement" option for quickly accessing old invoices for clients.

Cons

It's not exactly intuitive. You need to be trained on it to an extent. Our old bookkeeper taught me how to use it, but my knowledge isn't as extensive as it should be.

TABS3 has potential but the interface is outdated

Our firm switched to Cosmolex, which I've found much more user friendly and easy to use. I much prefer it. TABS seems like a software that was invented at the dawn of the computing age and has been much improved upon in later iterations and should probably just retire or completely rebrand.

Pros

Searching for clients is simple and entering time is relatively easy. The hot keys/shortcuts option is good for repetitive or redundant entries and saves a lot of time.

Cons

Finding past invoices is much more difficult than it should be and the interface as a whole takes a lot of experience and know-how to navigate efficiently. It is not user-friendly or very intuitive. Tasks that seem like they should be the simplest seem to be hidden in layers of over complicated options and confusing defaults.

Cumbersome and Outdated

It is very difficult to navigate and hard to learn if you are not trained well, and especially if you do not have significant bookkeeping experience. Would not recommend this to anyone.

Pros

It does seem to have lots of features and capabilities. However, many of them are not easily found, or require too many steps to be efficient.

Cons

It is not at all intuitive. Instead of one platform/dashboard (as in a program like CosmoLex), there are multiple programs for different functions. Sometimes, to complete a single transaction you have to use two or even three of the programs. It's nearly impossible to find a comprehensive client report with a top-down view of the client's status. There seem to be lots of unnecessary steps added to very basic requests. The whole program has an outdated, unaesthetic appearance.

Practice Management and Accounting in One

One of the biggest things Cosmolex has done for us is allow us to bring out bookkeeping in-house. We went through 3 bookkeeping firms in 2 years and spent huge sums of money for our accountants to undo the mess they made. Our first year end with Cosmolex and in-house bookkeeping was a little rough but that was mostly cleaning up past mistakes.

Pros

The product is generally pretty simple to use. Sometimes you will encounter a quirk that makes you wonder "why did they do it like this?" but once you understand the logic behind it you pick up quickly. The software is updated quite regularly.

Cons

They were purchased by Tabs3 about a year ago and the fact that they are not independent is a little concerning.
