building a great databas
Great for sending out emails and connecting with your customers in an interactive way and building up your email database.
I would still prefer Mailchimp as I like the Playfullness that Mailchimp offers. But this a grat alternative.

ActiveCampaign's been on our radar for a while for its visual automation editor which can generate impressive workflows. The segmentation by tagging is a big plus in ensuring your emails are as targeted as can be.
Surprisingly, MailChimp does have a better email editor.

Customer service is great up to the point of sale. Beyond that the migration/activation process is clunky and they have too many players in the mix. We're testing it for a few months and might either switch back to MailChimp or try Pardot if possible.
We haven't tested it yet but we started the subscription for lead nurturing and automated email journeys
Not very easy-to-use interface. MailChimp is better

The contact import and segmentation is very easy. There are multiple template to email campaigns and can be used to set drip campaigns.
The html mails could have been more simplified like MailChimp.

Main benefit is the incredible marketing automation features. You can create whole email funnels much easier than you could in infusionsoft.
I like the automation features of ActiveCampaign. For example if someone opens an email I can then send them a different email. If they buy my product they get taken to another list. If they don't buy, you can send them emails about the product.
It costs more than Mailchimp and it's harder to use.

Overall I enjoy my experience with Activecampaign. It allows us to build systems for private clients that is quite profitable.
My company uses this software for many different applications. We've developed systems that use the emailing and texting features in Activecampaign to accomplish marketing goals that would otherwise be hard to do manually. The value is fantastic because we get a lot of small scale projects. It's a pretty fair monthly price for the basic plan considering the services you get.
It's not the easiest software to use compared to others like mailchimp.

Overall, it's a great email tool for startups and small businesses.
ActiveCampaign is a great step up from something like Mailchimp if you're going to test some automation features. IT's actually cheaper than Mailchimp and has automation features you'd expect in something like Hubspot.
I'd love to see some better automation templates to help people who are new to automation get started. That's something the more expensive tools do a good job with.

The automations with triggers based on customer behaviour. Migration from Mailchimp was easy.
Features of the more premium packages should be included in the lower priced packages - member ratings and engagement-based campaigns. Reporting dashboard - would love a visualisation of all campaigns and emails within automations to compare engagement.

I Love the endless possibilities for Automations!
Everything is possible for the needs of a business today. Best selling and email-marketing tool I know. Great support!
It’s not that easy to learn. The Campaign design could be more intuitiv (Drag and drop like mailchimp).

We sent multiple email campaigns with Activecampaign and while it wasn't our favorite software on the market, it was a top choice. It was efficient and effective and got the mailers out when needed.
Activecampaign is a decent and reliable email campaign software, and will effectively meet the needs of mid-level companies. They are not the easiest or prettiest campaign software on the market, but they get the job done.
It's more difficult to use than other softwares, like Mailchimp, and for our needs was more expensive.
Hi Megan! Thanks so much for leaving your review. We truly appreciate hearing what is and isn't working from our users. I'm sorry to hear you've found ActiveCampaign a bit difficult to work with. I would recommend sitting in our our Office Hours with Chris Davis on Tuesdays and Fridays (https://www.activecampaign.com/training/) and our Education part of the website is very robust (https://www.activecampaign.com/learn/). And always feel free to reach out to our Support team with any issues you're having and we'll be happy to help! Thank you again for the feedback! Your friends at ActiveCampaign

The best email software I've used (tried AWeber, Mailchimp) and with the most features.
Automation. You are able to create complicated sales funnels that run on autopilot to maximise conversions and sales. For example, I integrate my ClickFunnels landing pages with ActiveCampaign. Leads receive automated follow up emails, and then further personalised emails based on whether they open or click on a link in an email.
It was very complicated at first. It would be good if they had YouTube tutorials to get you started, like with ClickFunnels.

I changed from MailChimp to ActiveCampaign looking for a simple way to do stuff. It was not an easy change but I'm happy I did. I still have a MailChimp account that I use for other purposes.
The automation of campaigns definitely! They are very easy to create because the logic is not linear but created like a mindmap. The tags are also a very practical way to understand my database behaviour. Customer support is outstanding.
It's not so simple at the beginning but once you get the logic of it, it's easier every time. Some features can be confusing and overwhelming, but there's always Customer support.

If you are looking for something more capable than MailChimp, then try these guys.
I love the email workflow creator. You can design the flow, events, actions with drag and drop tools.
Some of the more advanced flow creation tools require tech support. Well at least for someone like me. But their support is pretty good at helping.

This is a really full featured marketing automation platform at a great price. The visual builder is really handy and fun to show clients
The email tempale designer can sometimes have issues and is not as easy to use as a mailchimp designer.

very, very positive. I'm delighted I have moved from Mailchimp, the only regret is that I waited so long :(
I moved to Active Campaign from Mailchimp and from the very start was impressed with how user-friendly and easy to use the software was. I love the way Automations are organized, easy to create, easy to edit, and easy to integrate with other products outside of AC. Plus plenty of templates available. I was also impressed with the support - prompt and very helpful.
I am very aware that I don't use many of the options available within AC. But from the features, I am using right now there's nothing I didn't like.

ActiveCampaign made it very easy for me to convert from MailChimp. As a small business, I highly recommend this offering.
ActiveCampaign brought marketing automation to my efforts. I had prior attempted to do this with MailChimp but I found it very difficult and support nonexistent. Active campaign makes it easy and has great support!
Nothing when compared with my prior efforts.

I'm happy and wouldn't want to go back to Mailchimp. The ideal solution for everything i need to do.
- ease of use - help with the transfer (in our case mailchimp) - all-in-one solution - easy communication with support and trainers - lots of help articles - design options, everywhere
- some issues when you have planned a campaign and want to make changes - pages are great but since i am using them more and more i expect more possibilities like menu's, search bar etc, so it can do even more - integration set-up in automations not that easy, so i always add zapier connections

Email delivery issues are being solved with ActiveCampaign.
If you have a small business, this is great. It's pretty similar to Mailchimp. It's integration is helpful and A/B testing.
I don't like the pricing. If money is an issue, you may want to try a cheaper option.

The app is much better than MailChimp. Templates look better, the CRM is easier and it is a all round better app.
It’s not cheap. For what you get it awesome.

Overall experience is good, support is good and their features are epic
Switching from MailChimp to ActiveCampaign was a breeze in the number of features they offered and the things I could do with it but....
...It gets expensive quite fast, which is the biggest con of the software. If you really want to use it properly prepare to take out some extra credit ;-)

It was good on the free plan for a while, but the videos were not very helpful for me or the clients. I had to train them personally on how to use the functions.
I just moved to ActiveCampaign after having a bit of trouble with tags and multiple lists. It looks like I will now be able to have multiple lead magnets and funnels. Not tried the upgraded version of Mailchimp, however, so no idea whether it measures up to ActiveCampaign
Tags management and the lack of multiple automation systems that would make it easier to test different marketing funnels I have built

MailChimp is VERY easy to use. No learning curve. MailChimp also has a great API with tons of integrations. If you have a tiny email list of say, 10,000 records, MailChimp is the perfect solution for you.
Mailchimp is not the best solution for larger email lists. Anything over 10,000, I'd consider an alternative software like Iterable or ActiveCampaign.

I like the ease of setup, and the free plan. It's very easy to setup a list quickly, and start collecting addresses!
Their automations capabilities seem to be behind ActiveCampaign, and their prices are a bit more expensive if you move up to the paid tier.

I like the most about this software that it's pretty straightforward for novice users. Lots of cool features for low price.
I didn't like the fact that I cannot customize or replace confirmation email (opt-in) template. That's why I run all my campaigns with ActiveCampaign now.
