The email cloud is so so

2017-06-16

Pros

It has basic functions that allow you to send out or schedule massive email campaigns. Other functions include tracking of email campaigns and performance reports.

Cons

I think the email cloud in general is not so intuitive in a way that I need to spend more time with putting together the email campaigns than I should.

An Okay Email Marketing Platform

2018-02-17

Pros

Salesforce Marketing Cloud does its job in email marketing, it helps you to plan, design, and send out email campaigns, as well as tracking the campaign performance and analytics for improvement purpose.

Cons

The list importing is a bit old fashioned, it takes a lot of time to import a recipient list every time, and you also need to click many times, which I think is not very intuitive and a bit annoying.

Lots of features

2018-08-02

Pros

Salesforce Marketing Cloud has a lot of very useful features from tiggers, to custom drip campaigns.

Cons

Honestly you almost need to take a course to learn how to use their software, because there is so much to it. Also I wish their UI didn't look so old school.

A very capable platform for running huge campaigns

2018-04-29

It's a great tool for what it's supposed to do. It just needs a little bit of polishing on the edges and REST api integration performance should be kept consistent.

Pros

We've been sending huge campaigns through Marketing Cloud and that has always worked well.

Cons

Because it's customisable and feature-rich, it naturally requires some learning curve. Also, there doesn't seem to be a way to refresh records without refreshing the whole page which will then take you back to the landing page. Filtering records could be improved (a bit cumbersome at the moment i.e. you need to create filters first). We also have integrations using their REST api which mostly works. Occasionally, updating/inserting records becomes very slow. We've contacted support about this a few times and gave up. We've implemented fallback options instead.

Very useful tool - worth a try!

2016-04-29

Pros

We have integrated it with our existing deployment of the Salesforce CRM, has enabled us the ability to automate marketing messages based on our existing customer data collected.

Cons

Salesforce Marketing Cloud saves us time with the ability to automate campaigns but the user interface takes a while to get used to and can be frustrating to navigate.

A heavy hitter, but work to be done in UX

2018-01-10

Despite being somewhat clumsy in real-world use, Marketing Cloud is a powerful, high quality suite for those looking to pursue robust, personalized digital campaigns.

Pros

This is an outstanding product for 1:1 engagement with an existing audience. We're still somewhat new to it, but are quickly coming up to speed. Best modules are open APIs, Journey Builder (basically pulls the entire suite together to build repeatable workflows), Audience builder (works hand/glove with Journey Builder), and Mobile Studio. It will take time for us to gather enough behavior and other attribute values to really put this to work. But it has plenty of horsepower and data tools and really get us to advanced personalization and performance analysis.

Cons

This makes it cumbersome to assemble an entire campaign because you're constantly pinging back and forth through different modules (via a tabbed interface) to get things done.

Salesforce CRM, the pricey standard (with plenty of pricey options)

2017-10-16

Pros

And that is a lot; anything with your Leads, Contacts, Accounts, Opportunities, and email marketing Campaigns.

Cons

It will cost you time, effort to get to the point where it WILL do what you want it to do. For example, making each screen show ONLY what one wants, takes customization.

Salesforce Marketing Cloud

2018-07-19

I would recommend any company seeking a marketing solution check this one out and consider not only where the company is now with marketing, but where their company would like to be in the next year and 5-10 years and base decisions on that. Upfront costs for these lesser solutions may be appealing at first, but it doesn't take long to realize the short comings of such applications and that the money could have been spent more wisely on something as polished and robust as the Salesforce Marketing Cloud solution.

Pros

Salesforce Marketing Cloud is a very robust marketing system that solves all manner of marketing needs from the simple mailings to complex customer journeys and marketing campaigns.

Cons

The biggest negative I have with Salesforce Marketing Cloud is the price. Companies often feel their marketing needs are not to the level that this application can provide and struggle to justify the cost. Unfortunately, this causes companies to go with a lesser solution because upfront costs appear to be less, even though in the long run they end up costing more.

Pick a good vendor, that is the crucial aspect of the roll out. With a bad vendor, the turnover is dangerous to your projects completion date and it's bottom line.

Pros

The whole baked out process is easy to understand and roll out, using the tool to manage email campaigns and other selling tools is a real revenue generator!

Cons

As with anything Salesforce, it looks good until you sign the contract, then you see all the hidden add-ons and expenses you need to get the tool actually doing what you want. Be prepared to spend more than they tell you!

Exceptional functionality, matching price

2018-04-04

It's a SalesForce product now! There is still a fair bit of work to be done by the SF team in order to make this platform as good as it could potentially be, but it's on the right track. Great choice if you're a die-hard SF user who wants to get more of your MarComm stack.

Pros

There are plenty of bells and whistles that allow you to take full advantage of advanced marketing automation and campaign management.

Cons

Non-profits and other smaller organizations may find it challenging to implement this platform. It is highly extensible and customizable, but that also means that there can be a high cost associated with any customizations. Several colleagues who are actively using this platform have mentioned challenges with upgrades and such.

Tailor it to your business needs!

2016-08-30

Pros

I love that Salesforce can cover so many different facets all tailored to just about any business. For example, if your business does not have or intend to have a social presence, then you will not need the social media access for social listening, etc. I was impressed to learn how to map out journeys of ideal customers then setup analytics on behaviors and actions to track the progress.

Cons

During a long engagement, I was able to help my client set up automated email marketing campaigns then track the progress along a defined journey to generate leads.

Schedule a consultation with Salesforce so they can help you decide what features/packages will meet your business needs. Ask for a free trial and really take the time to get comfortable with it. I imagine their conversion of free trials must be pretty high.

The leader in integration and automation!

2015-09-29

Salesforce is hands-down the best CRM out there. I have worked with it in both small business and large entity capacities and it works perfectly for both.

Pros

Data, Knowledge, Contacts, Accounts, automated email campaigns, social media, Support tickets, scheduling reporting - all in one.

Cons

The only con I have perceived is how quickly SFDC moves forward with new features - and the amount of focus they put on things they are rolling out. Sometimes, I think the energy would be better spent improving the current features.

Salesforce is Still King of the Hill, even in Marketing

2015-10-01

Salesforce is the central repository for our business. All of our user activities like signups, payment history, the apps they have used and when, our marketing communications, our presentation collateral, and our customer support....all lie within the Salesforce cloud. It is the key to our customer facing business, and the Marketing Cloud is just one more piece to the puzzle.

Pros

SFDC's Marketing Cloud allows all communications that go to customers to be tracked, seamlessly within your overall SFDC instance. Campaigns to different groups are a cinch to setup.

Cons

Maybe I am in the minority, but just about anything in Salesforce takes a little bit more time to learn than it seems like it should. Their UI is a touch clunky, and it certainly could use more design.

Powerful but more complicated than it needs to be

2018-05-06

Pros

Salesforce Marketing Cloud has some impressive features when integrated with Sales Cloud - in particular the ability to build complex automations based on customer attributes and changes to those attributes, and to add reporting about email activity directly into the CRM.

Cons

It takes too many steps to create and send a relatively straightforward email campaign - there's a significant learning curve, and a lot of things that can go wrong if you're working with an integrated instance with Sales Cloud.
