Salesforce Marketing Cloud Features In Depth

Execute Email Marketing Campaigns

Email marketing has been proven to be one of the most effective channels for customer relationship growth, particularly when it comes to online commerce. Salesforce Marketing Cloud provides tools for executing on customer interactions, regardless of how basic or sophisticated a marketer would like to be.

The software provides all the tools necessary for putting together a sophisticated email marketing campaign, starting with drag-and-drop capabilities with native predictive intelligence content recommendations. Using dynamic content, JavaScript, and AMPscript, you can create personalized experiences. With Salesforce Marketing Cloud, you can also use mobile-optimized email templates.

Create Personalized Experiences at Scale

With Salesforce Marketing Cloud, marketers are able to create personalized journeys across multiple sales, services, and marketing channels. This type of experience unites the brand’s identity and ensures that customers have a seamless experience, regardless of the device or channel they may be using.

Sign on to your Salesforce Marketing Cloud account to begin mapping the customer journey. You have full control and the ability to prioritize each step of your strategy, from engaging customers through real-time interactions to testing multiple variations of email content (A/B testing). You can monitor and respond to customers, and connect your apps and products to the customer journey.

Track Customer Actions

Advanced web marketing tools allow marketers to seamlessly track every action their customers take across all of the channels they use, including email, mobile, social, and the web. Web personalization, in particular, engages customers with personalized content.

When you use web personalization, Salesforce Marketing Cloud will personalize the content on your own dynamic webpages based on the individual consumer. You can then collect both explicit and implicit behavioral data, and you can leverage this data for things like targeted product recommendations and discount offers.

Understand Customer Preferences

Salesforce Marketing Cloud uses data science to help organizations better understand what’s going on inside their customers’ heads. Predictive intelligence tools track customer preferences and optimize for every interaction automatically. This optimization happens across multiple channels, without the end-user having to lift a finger.

In addition to collecting implicit and explicit customer data, you can also use Salesforce Marketing Cloud to create your own predictive profiles for each contact in your CRM. You can then infer customer preferences, or configure predictive content using the drag-and-drop tools that the solution provides. Using predictive intelligence, you should be able to automate email delivery and other messages across channels, and personalize content in each message you send out based on individual interests.

An Okay Email Marketing Platform

2018-02-17

Pros

Salesforce Marketing Cloud does its job in email marketing, it helps you to plan, design, and send out email campaigns, as well as tracking the campaign performance and analytics for improvement purpose.

Cons

The list importing is a bit old fashioned, it takes a lot of time to import a recipient list every time, and you also need to click many times, which I think is not very intuitive and a bit annoying.

Utilitarian but outdated UI

2018-03-05

Easy email marketing and list/preference center management.

Pros

Once users get up to speed, it's a very easy UI to master and accomplish email marketing tasks quickly.

Cons

The UI is quite outdated, and the workflows are very intuitive -easy to get up to speed on, but it does require an "expert" on the team to help you onboard to how the business uses the software, as it's pretty free-form.

A very capable platform for running huge campaigns

2018-04-29

It just needs a little bit of polishing on the edges and REST api integration performance should be kept consistent.

Pros

We've been sending huge campaigns through Marketing Cloud and that has always worked well.

Cons

We also have integrations using their REST api which mostly works.

A heavy hitter, but work to be done in UX

2018-01-10

Despite being somewhat clumsy in real-world use, Marketing Cloud is a powerful, high quality suite for those looking to pursue robust, personalized digital campaigns.

Pros

This is an outstanding product for 1:1 engagement with an existing audience.

Cons

This makes it cumbersome to assemble an entire campaign because you're constantly pinging back and forth through different modules (via a tabbed interface) to get things done.

2016-08-30

Pros

For example, if your business does not have or intend to have a social presence, then you will not need the social media access for social listening, etc.

It makes Social Media marketing easy!

Pros

The best part is that Salesforce customer service is pretty spot on when I asked for tutorial videos or was stuck on something. I emailed them and they called me as soon as possible. I would talk to the customer service representatives for hours and they would walk me step by step.

Cons

Exceptional functionality, matching price

2018-04-04

There is still a fair bit of work to be done by the SF team in order to make this platform as good as it could potentially be, but it's on the right track. Great choice if you're a die-hard SF user who wants to get more of your MarComm stack.

Pros

There are plenty of bells and whistles that allow you to take full advantage of advanced marketing automation and campaign management.

Salesforce is Still King of the Hill, even in Marketing

2015-10-01

All of our user activities like signups, payment history, the apps they have used and when, our marketing communications, our presentation collateral, and our customer support....all lie within the Salesforce cloud.

Pros

SFDC's Marketing Cloud allows all communications that go to customers to be tracked, seamlessly within your overall SFDC instance. Campaigns to different groups are a cinch to setup.

Cons

Maybe I am in the minority, but just about anything in Salesforce takes a little bit more time to learn than it seems like it should. Their UI is a touch clunky, and it certainly could use more design.

Incredible tool, make sure you have an infrastructure

2019-08-07

An incredible tool when an infrastructure is in place that will allow for collaboration between marketing and sales as well as support in place for the sales team so they don’t get bogged down with the administrative component.

Pros

As a provider of digital marketing automation (email, social, ads) and analytics, is great when it comes to connecting the dots between what you know about customers and what marketing materials you should send to them.

Cons

Make sure you have an infrastructure in place that will allow for the immense amount of data entry and data maintenance necessary to keep the CRM up-to-date and allow intelligent marketing insights and automation to even be possible.
