As much as I appreciate the benefits of Google Maps for its comprehensiveness and versatility, the navigation issues I encountered in San Francisco and Boston caused severe enough issues for me that I switched to another mapping/navigation app. This was a disappointing change for me to make, because I had no issues with the app until I made those repeated trips to San Francisco (and then again to Boston!) I hope that in the future those issues can be resolved, and Google Maps will once again be my navigation and mapping app of choice.
What I like the most about Google Maps: * Comprehensive library of maps - This app has you covered no matter where you are. I have used Google Maps to walk about Shanghai, to navigate traffic in Dallas, and find my way around Times Square in New York. * It easily allows you to toggle layers in the maps - displaying red/yellow/green traffic density, as well as other optional displays * Routing from point A to point B can be customized in many ways - are you walking? Going by train? Driving? If you're driving, do you want to avoid tolls? And on it goes... options are good.
Google Maps has some glaring "blind spots" where the app doesn't function quite right; the map and/or positioning data is not quite right, and it causes some big problems while driving. San Francisco has been the most common city for me to travel to on business over the years, and Google Maps seems to have a big problem navigating around Silicon Valley. The voice navigation constantly sends the driver on random traffic circles, causing me to get lost on more than one occasion. This is very problematic, given the traffic volume there. This also happened on a business trip in Boston - the voice navigation didn't direct me to exit until I was right up on the exit. This happened repeatedly. Not good.

I use the solution to navigate and estimate traffic
Google map has all places listed the public places and I like the traffic estimator feature which estmates traffics from places and suggest me good routes
Using the API of Google map is too expensive and I would like to see the prices being reduced a bit

I use the solution as navigator and to guide clients into our system
Google map is so easier to use and does not require payment to use and have acccurate navigation system
Nothing to dislike about Google Map though using the API is costly to smaller businesses

Google Maps is an absolute must for any of my navigational needs. It has reshaped the way people drive. There are no more needs to have paper maps. The searching feature of google maps is very friendly using normal language. Just ask google maps to find the best place for ice cream near me and it does it. The reviews and photos that people add to the maps are very helpful in deciding where to go. It is also a great way to avoid traffic as it updates in real time. I love the feature that you can use voice search while already on a rout to find pit stops such as gas stations along the route and it tells you the extra amount of time it will take before you decide what extra stop to add.
The navigation no longer will reroute users to side streets. The desktop version used to have a feature that would show you photos taken by users in the area. I would often use this to scout shooting locations for my business. This feature is either hidden or no longer in service. This function would be a great resource to me if it was added to the phone app. The Google MyMaps feature is a great idea but falls flat do to security issues. ANyone with access to your specific map can easily copy the map and reuse it for their own purposes. I would like the ability to share my maps that I have created with others without the fear that they can copy it and share it with others whom I do not want them to have access to my content.

Google Maps is my partner in crime, while it can always be better it is without doubt the closest I've seen to app perfection
I find it really strange Maps is free, when I can safely say a large majority of users would've been willing to pay for it. The wealth of data at our fingertips is unimaginable. Whether you like to drive, take transit, walk, bike, or rideshare, Maps has you covered. Even combinations of most of these modes with transit works (save for biking). Ride times are very accurate, transit arrival times are...
I wish there was a way to keep being able to look up places without exiting your ongoing trip for modes besides transit, eg. If you have a walking trip going but you want to search for food in a particular area you have to exit your trip, do your thing, then restart the trip. This works seamlessly for transit though

I could not do without it for my job (Driving around to customers etc) and would never go back to a standard GPS.
Nothing to not like about Google maps, amazing for scouting out places before you visit, hop across the world in a mouse click and most impressive is the navigation side of it all. Uses minimal phone battery and the traffic routing is incredible! Not many people realise that google use the data from other users on the road to identify traffic jams and slow moving roads, this gives google an unprecedented amount of traffic data which makes the updates so fast and accurate! Also means that jams and slow moving traffic can be detected in small side roads/country lanes which could not have been done before (with standard traffic cameras).
Its a shame they removed the phone app functionality to turn the screen off between instructions, but its not the end of the world as the battery usage is quite reasonable.

This is how much I love Google Maps, I got a new phone with new Mapping Software, and I opted to KEEP Google Maps because I LOVE it.
I LOVE that Google Maps is so easy to use and universal! I don't need a special phone to access a special mapping system. It stores where I've been which saves time not having to look up places again and again. If I try a new place and want to go again, but can't remember what it was called, Maps stores the info! The route calculation puts my mind at ease when going off campus for a meeting, I know...
I honestly have no cons. It's simple to use with the complex capacity to keep me on the right track.

Whenever I go to networking events, I use Google Maps to find the most efficient route for me. Google Maps also helps me decide if I want order products for my design company to see the distance the product would need to be shipped from. I am overall quite satisfied and will continue using it.
I appreciate the location tracking feature the most with the blinking blue circle on the map. I just have to look at the map and know exactly where I am every second of my journey. I can see the relative locations (places nearby) in addition to the exact location so I hardly ever get lost. I also like the food recommendations of places near me so I can eat conveniently if needed.
I definitely would like the voiceover function to be improved. When using the app I cannot easily find the button to enable voiceover and sometimes it doesn’t even play when I type in a location. I would like to enable voiceover within maps, not in settings. It would great if I could voice enable it Alexa. E.g. Hey, please turn on voiceover on Google Maps.

Overall, the pros of Google Maps significantly outweigh its cons. It's a robust and reliable tool for anyone who needs to navigate or explore, with a few areas that could benefit from improvements.
Google Maps offers an impressive array of features that make it an essential tool for navigation and exploration. Its geographic data is highly accurate and up-to-date, reflecting changes in real-world geography and infrastructure quickly. The high-resolution satellite imagery and Street View features allow s to virtually explore locations around the world, providing some awesome features that other navigation apps lack.
However, Google Maps is not without its flaws. While generally reliable, there can be occasional hiccups with the location tracking feature. Although it usually recalibrates quickly, this can cause minor inconveniences during navigation.Data consumption can also be a concern, especially when using more data-intensive features like Satellite View or Street View. Likewise, continued use of Google Maps, particularly with GPS tracking, can quickly drain a device's battery.

In my experience, Google Maps is an incredibly useful and reliable navigation tool that has helped me navigate my way through countless cities and towns. The app's accuracy, wide range of features, and user-friendly interface make it an essential tool for anyone who travels frequently or needs directions to a new location. However, the app's battery drain and privacy concerns can be a downside for some users. Overall, I highly recommend Google Maps to anyone looking for a reliable navigation tool.
Accurate and reliable navigation: Google Maps provides highly accurate and up-to-date maps, making it easy to navigate unfamiliar roads and find your way around town. The app is also equipped with real-time traffic updates, which helps you avoid congested areas and arrive at your destination on time.Wide range of features: Google Maps is more than just a navigation tool. The app offers a variety of...
Battery drain: Using Google Maps for an extended period can drain your smartphone battery quickly. This is especially true if you have your screen on and are using GPS to navigate.Privacy concerns: Google Maps collects a lot of data about its users, including their location, search history, and even their home and work addresses. While this information is used to improve the app's functionality, it raises privacy concerns for some users.Limited offline functionality: Google Maps requires an internet connection to function properly. This means that if you're traveling in an area with poor or no connectivity, you may not be able to use the app to its full potential.

Mapping locations of where our customers request trips to and from, where our drivers operate most and more within My Maps. Gaining an insight into Points of Interest through Street View without having to visit the location. I really enjoy using Google Maps within my work.
I absolutely love the Google My Maps feature, it has really transformed my work. I had previously experimented with free trials of add-ons within Google Sheets to create maps with pinpoints of specific locations as required, but then I discovered the My Maps feature and it's brilliant. I love being able to upload a CSV of data to Google Maps, and then for it to create a map with all the points labelled, and even titled if I request it. It has transformed my work when we require a map of where business is being carried out, where customers request trips to and more. In addition, the Streetview feature has been hugely useful for me in improving the quality of our app, by being able to describe the layout of important points of interest without having to actually visit them.
More complete streetview would be great, for example inside train stations and airports, where sometimes there are one-off photos, rather than a full pathway. Being alerted if photos are out-of-date would be great- sometimes locations look totally different now to have they did in the photo in streetview. In My Maps, it would be nice to be able to upload more data as sometimes I have to split my data in multiple CSV sheets for this, and also to be able to link two points together with a line or arrow would be great. It would also be nice to be able to change the colour of pins if there is more than one entry at the same location, rather than placing the pins atop each other.

I simply love Google Maps for all the features that it provides in a single software. We have become so used to it that its difficult to imagine life without it.
Google Maps is a free of cost and extremely easy to use software that you can use to find your location on map using GPS, instantly search a destination and the routes leading to it, or just to survey an area. It provides different type of map layer like satellite, terrain or traditional simplified map, from which you can choose the one you like. Google Maps roll out updates on regular basis to include...
Technically Google Maps is a very well desiged software and all of it features works very well, but it is a heavy software and the only flaw that it ahve is that it very rapidly drains your battery if you are using it on a smart phone.

I like Google Maps because they've mastered the art of providing lots of features without making their application difficult to use or junky. I prefer this over the Maps app that comes with my iPhone because it's much easier to edit my trip. If I don't want to take a certain bridge or highway, Google Maps can show me alternate routes and the additional time it would take in one tiny place on the screen....
The only bad thing I can say about Google Maps is that it doesn't always know which direction I'm facing, which can be tricky. There's an arrow that follows along the path and shows you whether you're going in the same direction of the path or not. There were times when the arrow was pointing in a different direction than the path so, I made a U-Turn and later realized that I was actually going in the right direction before.

Good for finding restaurants, etc. with reasonable feedback. I use TripAdvisor for in-depth research. The killer advantages are the location, directions, up-to-date opening times and busy times, built up by tracking Android phones in and out of the businesses.
I used to like the reminders of places I had been to leave feedback. Recently, the review entry window has been changed to provide updates and suggestions whilst you are typing in. Mostly these are not needed and a mild irritant. The real pain is that all these updates are now setting my typing entry point back to character one so the end of a word I am typing ends up as corruption at the start. This...

What I like the most about using this software is the consistent and constant updated data it provides. Whenever I input an address for directions, Google Maps will provide me with all the routes available with the amount of time it will take to get there based on distance and traffic in real-time. It will even suggest taking an alternate route while already in route, if it finds a more convenient route to take. I also especially love how I am able to search nearby specific establishments that are on the way to my destination, whether it is a gas station, coffee shop, or a restaurant. Highly recommend this app, because it is always accurate, and it is extremely convenient in all its features that it provides.
I'd have to say that the only thing negative thing that has happened a few times is the exact pinpoint of my current location. Once in a while, it will think I am on the street parallel to the one that I am actually on and try to reroute me. I continue the route that I was originally following, and eventually, the GPS matches back to where I actually am. I think if there was a way to accurately calibrate the precise location of where I am, the problem could be easily solved.

Google Maps is a great service that beats almost every other mapping service. I use it personally and for business: 1) It just works! My biggest frustration with Google Maps is when recalculating directions to a location, it always uses the main route, in many cases there are other routes that can be used but it seems it only can only handle 2 alternative routes not more than that.

My overall experience with Google maps has been 9 out of 10 good I have yet to have an awful experience other than when maps is lagging and my cursor is 2" to the right of the road and turning left and right
What I like most about Google maps is there is memory so I can set my workplace I can set my home I can set my day-to-day activities while on the road and at the end of the month I can use that memory to see where I have been how many miles I have traveled I also enjoy that there are options on the settings for a person to speak with you and that you can let other commuters know where police are setting up traps
What I liked least about Google maps is that occasionally it will take you on longer routes than necessary sometimes it does not registered when there are massive traffic James and it sometimes lags I feel it could be a bit more Faster also it Should be a bit more customizable per person

In conclusion, Google Maps is an excellent navigation app that offers accurate directions, real-time updates, and multiple modes of transportation. While there are some privacy concerns, the app's benefits far outweigh its drawbacks. With its rich information and integration with other apps, Google Maps is the ultimate navigation app for travelers.
Accurate navigation: Google Maps provides precise directions and suggests the fastest routes based on real-time traffic data.Multiple modes of transportation: The app offers multiple modes of transportation such as walking, cycling, driving, public transport, and more.Rich information: Google Maps provides detailed information about businesses, landmarks, and popular tourist destinations, making it easy to explore new places.Real-time updates: The app provides real-time updates on traffic conditions, transit schedules, and even the estimated wait time at popular attractions.Integration with other apps: Google Maps can be integrated with other apps such as Uber, Lyft, and food delivery apps, making it easy to book a ride or order food.
Battery drain: Using Google Maps for extended periods can drain your device's battery quickly.Privacy concerns: The app collects user data and location information, which can raise privacy concerns for some users.Limited offline usage: While the app does offer offline maps, the functionality is limited compared to its online counterpart.

Google Maps has been indispensable for me, offering accurate navigation, real-time traffic updates, and an intuitive interface. It's my go-to for both daily commutes and travel, thanks to its reliability and seamless integration with other Google services like Street View.
What I like most about Google Maps is its comprehensive functionality. It offers real-time navigation, traffic updates, route optimization, and nearby recommendations. Features like location sharing, offline maps, and personalized suggestions make travel convenient and efficient, enhancing the overall user experience.
Google Maps' occasional inaccuracies in live traffic updates can be frustrating. While generally reliable, these inaccuracies can lead to unexpected delays or longer routes than expected, impacting time-sensitive journeys. Improving the precision of live traffic data would enhance the overall user experience significantly.

Very positive. However, I have switched to Apple maps for navigation on my cell phone because of Google's questionable data privacy actions.
It's quite handy for plotting out a route with multiple stops and finding the bestest/shortest/quickest route from one stop to another.
A function of my job requires me to find the closest fire station to an address. I used to be able to search Nearby for Fire Station, and a list would appear. As I hovered over each location in the list the distance from the address in question to that fire station would appear at the bottom of the screen. This feature was disabled a few months ago, and now I have to take several more steps to find the distance from my selected address to each fire station. Also, the number of stops in a route is limited to 10 (I believe).

In my experience, it has always proven to be the most accurate for directions. I love that I can see traffic and be alerted when there are accidents with automatic route changes to prevent me from getting stuck in traffic. When I add calendar events to Google Calendar, I enter the location of my destination and my calendar alerts me at my requested interval and includes traffic analysis. I have examples of times I would intend to leave for a client's 20 minutes in advance but my calendar notification displayed letting me know there was heavy traffic and the estimated travel time would be 35 minutes. Without Google Maps and calendar integration, I am empowered with the tools to be consistently on time.
One con could be that using Google Maps requires service so depending where you are traveling, this could be a problem. However, once you start a route and get directions, I believe it downloads the route so it can always finish to completion even in no-service areas. Also, if you plan ahead knowing you will be in no-service areas, you can download areas of a map offline which is very helpful. The only other con I can think of is that Maps often tracks your history by default which proves helpful at times but if you have privacy concerns, you will need to explore your settings and disable this.

I can use the activity tracker at work to submit detailed reports on my driving expenses, it also helps a lot when calculating the driving deductions each year for my taxes.
I like having access to the timeline. To be able to see everywhere I've been each day is great. It seems like in San Francisco, they'll randomly send you tickets in the mail from time to time and the activity tracker in the phone app allows me to review where I've been and has gotten me out of two tickets because I wasn't even in the locations they claimed I was in to violate a parking law.
I would like it if the software remembered the routes I take which are against the advised directions and then incorporated them into my regular routes instead of always giving me the quickest route. If I always make a specific decision on a regular route, remember it maybe?

I really like how Google Maps is optimal to use. For instance, it uses machine learning and data reviews to predict traffic patterns and accurate times of arrival. One of the things I really like is how it gets the times of public transportation accurately when the actual website doesn't.
One of the things I don't really like about Google Maps is how hard it is to "start" a navigation route and how to "customize" it. Of course, it's not hard to press the start button, but once you press start, changing the voice for navigation to on and off is hard to navigate and it's often frustrating. However, this isn't a major complaint, it's just from my own experience.
