Pros

Overall its been pretty good. Im not a big social media fan so I like it to be as simple as possible to get my message across.
I love that I can save drafts and schedule easily. This makes my social media strategy clear and streamlined with the ability to plan ahead.
I was excited to start using Hootsuite for the simple reason that I needed help managing my accounts. Like the very easy dashboard and functionality.

Pros

It has a great and easy to use dashboard. It also has an advanced notification system that delivers quality alerts straight to your inbox.
This effortless way of keeping tabs on who we should say thank you to, or to monitor the success and activity of marketing campaigns really helps us stay on top of things.
Their search results are top notch - more comprehensive than competitors for a better price tag. Plus, the UX is really nice, the mobile app is amazing, and the brand has a "fun" feeling.

Cons

There are times that the software has been a little buggy for us. Sometimes images fail to upload or content fails to post due to errors.
I had an issue with integrating it with all my platforms. I forget which one, but I was missing one that I had to do separately.
It may be user error, but it has proved an inconvenience at times.

Cons

I find out about books that are being sold illegally, or the wrong use of my name.
Most poor reviews come from disgruntled clients who proceed to trash the company.
It sometimes discovers irrelevant results which can be a little annoying.

Limitations With Graphics

It is ok. I enjoy the feed feature. But I still find myself being happy with the product created when I post uniquely (even if its relatively the same content) across social media platforms and do not use the posting feature on hootsuite.

Pros

The feed is helpful with the mention feature easily showing me who is interacting/mentioning our company.

Cons

The whole reason for our use of this software was to be able to easily post/schedule posts across social platforms. Using Hootsuite to post limits what graphic options (photos, article titles, links, link previews, etc) we are able to use on each post. If I create a post in Facebook Business, I am able to use many different graphic options, add multiple photos, create slide shows, etc. However if I just use the hootsuite platform, I am limited to what photos I can add/share, limited with photo editing options (Instagram), and overall it is difficult to post across multiple platforms and be satisfied with the product using just hootsuite.

Quick way to manage several social media activities at once.

Pros

Possibility to manage all social media in one place plus possibility to plan post in advance. If you need to publish on Linked In, Twitter, and Facebook at the same time it saves a lot of time.

Cons

I would add one feature - option to mention a person or a company in several different social media at once. When writing a post you can mention public profiles but you need to do it separately for each social media separately.

Cons

When i used it, it didn't let me find users though a mention, i had to manually go to twitter and look for them.

I like to use the schedule feature, I can plan all my posts for that week and not have to worry about posting them on the day at a particular time.

Cons

If you select more than one platform but want to mention someone using @ it sometimes cant find them, means i have to create the post one by one.

We are using the free version of Hootsuite to manage our team of 4 game developers. It has been very useful for easy communication, with its mobile apps and simplistic design.

Pros

There are mobile and desktop clients/apps The free version can be realistically used for collaboration between remote game developers There are different rooms to keep chats separate You can mention people to notify them Video and audio calls (including screen sharing) is free and helpful

Cons

In the near future, Hootsuite is going to stop being hosted/supported

Overall, Hootsuite works at a baseline, but leaves a lot to be desired. I don't have much experience with other tools to compare it against, except Curalate. I felt Curalate offered more features/tools and a better experience.

Pros

It gets the job done. Allows my to schedule out social across twitter, facebook, and instagram. Also allows me to deploy directly to facebook and twitter, however you do need to send instagram to your phone and then manually deploy it.

Cons

You can not send videos out on twitter, you also can't mention accounts within facebook when scheduling/sending from Hootsuite. Instead, you have to then go into facebook business manager and manually add in facebook account mentions.

I use hootsuite on a daily basis to schedule posts for my multiple social media clients. It makes posting quicker and also lets me keep better track of people who mention our pages so we are able to respond better and not miss as much. The user interface is simple and easy to understand.

Pros

I like the fact that you can multiple "tabs" to keep different pages separate so you never miss anything that happens.

Cons

When a social media account is disconnected (I have clients that come and go and my access to their accounts changes) I still get messages to reconnect the account. I wish that after disconnected an account it would just disappear until I decide to activate it again myself. It's annoying that all my disconnected accounts still pop up as options and ask me to reconnect them.

Hootsuite Saves Time and Allows Us to Post Consistently

It took a while to learn the features (I am not a tech professional) but once learned the software is a product we could not do without. I use the curation features (via linking to UpContent within the Hootsuite dashboard) and find it helpful to locate articles to mention and repost in my own posts when I lack original content.

Pros

I like the ability to post one article to all of our social media sites. I also like the ability to schedule posts in advance, and the post auto scheduler is a great feature to allow us to make sure we cover all of the times we want to post.

Cons

The software user interface is a bit clunky and messy and the features are not completely intuitive for a non-tech person. I feel that Hootsuite should improve the look, feel and ease of use of the software. Perhaps it was originally designed for more tech savvy people.

Hootsuite is a life changer for those who manage multiple social media accounts. I consider this software an essential part of your entire social media strategy. It saves you time, lets you plan ahead, helps you avoid multitasking, and allows you to post consistently! The best part? They offer a FREE version that lets you schedule up to 30 posts! This may not seem like a lot, but is perfect for small businesses and nonprofits that want to better manage their social media posting on a small budget! For individuals that offer social media services, I suggest their paid plan which is pretty affordable consider what it allows you to do.

Cons

What I like least about this software, although not Hootsuite's fault, is that scheduled Facebook posts through Hootsuite do not (in my opinion) get as much organic reach as posts that you schedule directly on Facebook. This obviously has more to do with Facebook and not Hootsuite but I felt I should mention it.

You can mention particular date and time on which you want your post to be send to social media. Through this you can engage your audience to your accounts by posting relevant content at right time.

It managed to be one step ahead in my social media strategy by allowing me to easily manage and publish content on multiple social networks from a single interface. The statistical reports are also very complete. However, I missed some features exclusive to the paid version. In summary, for those who are just starting out and mainly use a network, the free version is functional, but to get the most out of it, I recommend having one of the plans that include more advanced tools.

Pros

I mainly liked the way Hootsuite makes it easy to publish content to multiple social networks on a schedule and in one place. The interface is very intuitive and allows you to create an easy-to-manage content strategy. With their calendars I can plan posts in advance, assign hashtags, and mention users. I also found the dashboard useful, which allows you to see the activity and engagement on each platform, as well as the statistical reports on reach and interaction. It is undoubtedly a great tool for those who must manage several profiles and do not want to constantly publish manually

Cons

What I liked least is that some features such as message alerts are only available on the paid plan. While I understand that it is a way for the company to earn income, for those just starting out with a small budget, those alerts could be useful. Another detail is that the programming does not allow as much flexibility when adjusting publication times when necessary. In general I feel that the free plan is somewhat limited and to get the most out of it it would be better to have the premium versions

The community manager is more effective thanks to this software

Hootsuite is software that I would remember with my eyes closed. Although it is not a perfect software, it is one of the most complete since it combines several social networks in a single interface, propelling the user in an excellent way.

Pros

Hootsuite has been my ideal software for the management of Social Networks. Thanks to this program I can expose quite enough any person who so wishes, complying with excellent quality standards thanks to its benefits that I will mention them below: -It can add a significant amount of social networks in the software, allowing me to monitor and expose the client quite acceptable. - Its column system is quite functional to visualize and evaluate profiles of facebook, twitter, instagram, LinkedIn, without losing details when having to alternate between several browser windows. -Incorporation of comments within a review, retweet, so that the idea you want is better projected -Programming of automatic messages in the same social network

Cons

One of the problems I find when using Hootsuite is that I can not see the people who retweet my posts or tweets, to solve this, I must have a twitter session open with the Hootsuite. In the same way I think that this detail can be improved by this company.

The Column Layout is a User Experience Nightmare

I actually do have some good things to say about Hootsuite. In the corporate world I've seen that people love this platform for how you're able to manage multiple companies and interact with customers very easily. Also, if you're starting out as a free account there are plenty of way to get started and you don't have to pay a dime.

Cons

The column layout in Hootsuite drives me a little crazy. It made sense whenever Tweet Deck was released a number of years ago (also configured in columns) because it was only for Twitter. But, as a marketing professional, trying to manage multiple companies at the same time is kind of a nightmare when you have to look at everything in column mode. Not to mention their payment options and all of their add-ons. Their pricing is confusing to me and I wish they had more of a straightforward structure like Buffer or Sprout Social.

Good features, Not my Go-To

Pros

Hootsuite has some great features if you're someone who needs either a really quick glance - or a really in-depth dive into what's happening on their social channel. You can set it and forget it if you'd like - you set up several social posts to publish on a schedule. This is great for a business owner or social manager who doesn't want to post to social accounts every day. You have the ability to set up many feeds on your dashboard, which is nice if you need some basic information. It's good to give you a snapshot of what's happening across social accounts in one place.

Cons

There are three main cons I've found within the system which keeps me from being a regular user. 1) You can't tag people or mention people within the system anymore due to "privacy" concerns or something. Most of what I post I like to tag other users, so this doesn't work well for me. 2) I've also found it a bit difficult to use the feeds well. You're pretty limited in the information that shows up in the feed because the filtering options leave something to be desired. 3) Platforms like Facebook allow you to use many of the same functionalities these days, so it can be easier to just jump on the native platform.

Don't buy

My overall experience with hootsuite is that it looked and appeared to be exactly what I needed, but is very disappointing in functionalities, clarity of their proposition in relation to what you are actually getting and has absolutely appalling support.

Pros

Looks are good and (very basic) features are easy to implement.

Cons

features are poor, but there is an app store to expand upon that. However when you proceed to install apps to increase the functionality it turns out that not all the apps that are listed, are possible with each plan, but it doesn't mention which are and which aren't....So I upgraded (I'm not cheap or anything). Still didn't work. So I asked support. They came back to me after three days and several requests, but only after I asked the question on Facebook. They answered that my plan should be enterprise for the app I wanted. So I asked which apps where available for my purpose for smaller businesses and they just sent me a link to the same app store, so I could go and find out for myself.

Mention

Great for social media monitoring and measuring social sentiment

It helped monitor competitor mentions, my brand's mentions and most importantly it helped gauge how people felt about my brand, whether positive, negative or neutral.

Pros

I originally signed up for mention to measure the social sentiment of one of the brands I managed. My first choice was Hootsuite but the form wasn't loading so I decided to try Mention. Best decision I ever made! After signing up and setting up keywords to measure, alerts and dashboards, I forgot about Mention because it wasn't giving me info on past activity, I got an email from Account Executive...

Cons

The brand I used Mention on was a small brand with little activity, and most social media interactions were in the past after we ran a campaign. Which didn't help much because Mention only showed data collected after setting up. I wish I could get sentiment from past activity so I can measure how my brand was viewed then and now.
