Always new features, but always plenty to keep up to speed on

2018-11-28

Needed to move beyond Mailchimp to a more robust, true Marketing Automation platform but without a long-term commitment and absurdly high implementation cost.

Pros

The UX is much cleaner than any Salesforce or Marketo or Constant Contact product.

Cons

Downside to new features is they add them constantly vs. in timed releases like say the Salesforce platform, so you feel like you always need to learn something new even when you've used the platform for a number of years.

Great marketing platform for SMBs

2014-11-06

Pros

The thing I like most about HubSpot is that everything is in one easy-to-use platform. Making connections with our marketing data is a lot easier now, because we can see everything a prospect has done, whether they visited a Web page, opened an email campaign or filled out a form.

Cons

I've used many other email vendors (Emma, Constant Contact, MailChimp, ExactTarget) and a number of them let you drop in your own HTML.

Recommendations to others considering HubSpot Marketing

Really think about what it is you're trying to accomplish with your marketing program. We evaluated other marketing platforms, including Marketo and Silverpop. Many of the things they did, HubSpot could also do, and at a much better price.

Makes it easy to manage your digital marketing all in one place

2016-02-02

We investigated HubSpot as a way to help us be more efficient in managing our client's digital marketing efforts, which had become time consuming using multiple different platforms. With HubSpot, we're able to keep everyone focused on the same goals across the various channels (email, blog, social, PPC) and view the results all in one place. Better yet, it gives us a platform where we can collect all this information on a contact and company basis, making it easier for us to see the interactions we're having with a single contact across the board. Reporting has become easier, and it's much easier now to make an impact with our marketing efforts with everything centralized.

Pros

You don't need to learn multiple platforms (different email clients like MailChimp, Constant Contact, etc, plus WordPress, Blogger, and all the social outlets), just keep up with the one and launch everything from the same place.

Cons

As with most applications, the software can be a bit "hinky" sometimes, getting hung up or taking too long to process. Usually they flag the situation though, so you know what's going on and that they're working on it. If there's no flag, we report it, and they get someone working on it right away - nice to be taken seriously. The reporting generally requires that we need to take screenshots instead of using the ppt that the system auto-generates at month end - it's just not detailed enough for most of our clients. Sometimes it's difficult to keep up with all the system updates/upgrades, so be ready to invest some time in the training or find a partner to help.

Non-Profit Excels with HubSpot

2014-11-24

Pros

I like that HubSpot practices what it preaches. They educate customers (and the public) in inbound marketing techniques, the very techniques they're using themselves to earn customers! The product itself is easy to use and intuitive. Whenever we think up something we want to do (a specific tactic or approach), we always know that HubSpot can accommodate that idea. What I like best is the seamless way in which we can manage all of our blogging, website, social media, and enews all in one platform and see all of the analytics in that same place. Everyday we are logging into Hubspot to schedule social media posts, blogs, edit automated workflows, and more. Other staff use the tool for a monthly touchpoint email they send to their lists of contacts. And weekly, we send our FatherSource enewsletter from within HubSpot using the email templates. Further, HubSpot integrates with our Salesforce CRM, and provides valuable information to our sales staff, which can help them better help our customers/potential customers. We assign leads that come through HubSpot and feed into Salesforce for personal follow-up from NFI staff.

Cons

Before HubSpot we were using Constant Contact, The Raisers Edge contact database, Blogspot, and Blackbaud Net Community for our website, and posting separately on twitter, Facebook, and linked in.

Recommendations to others considering HubSpot Marketing

I suggest considering all of the marketing tasks you and your team does on a weekly basis and evaluate whether the tool you are considering can a) save you time and b) allow you to report on all of your work in one place. HubSpot saves us tons of time, because all of the aspects of any campaign are located within one system. There's no jumping around to disparate systems to complete tasks and measure success. Also, be sure thats it's easy to use for anyone in your office, even those who are less technology-savvy.

HubSpot is a different take on CRM but if you want to go beyond free, it has a high price tag

2019-03-28

Overall we were pretty impressed by what we saw and think it has good potential, but it didn't fit the bill for us at the time.

Pros

I thought that the user interface and workflows (particularly for the "Sales" module - we didn't use the "Marketing" module much) were inventive and made pretty good sense, especially for the fact that you could customize the labels and add or remove stages of the funnel to match the particular business process. We had a good look at - and had some practice - using this tool to manage our sales flow from end to end on a couple of small deals and it seemed decent. I also really liked the way the tool collects data and grows the database of known companies and contacts to help make your company and contact creation process quicker. It was definitely a welcome feature to not have to look up and add in a lot of granular detail about companies, as HubSpot was able to provide that info automatically.

Cons

HubSpot offers a free version of their tool, but it naturally comes with a hard sell by the sales team and you should be prepared to be in constant contact with them if you are using the free version.
