Great for Basic Uses but Lacking Features

2019-03-06

We were satisfied with MailChimp for years, but as our marketing strategy became more complex and automated, we recently switched to Pardot.

Pros

The best part about Mailchimp is the userability. You can create beautiful emails with little to no pain or design sense. It's drag and drop at its best.

Cons

The marketing automation features lags behind its competitors, which is ultimately why my company switched to Pardot.

Easy to use, lots of functionality

2019-03-21

Pros

It is simple to use, and so many people use it that there is tons of help out there if you can't figure something out. The templates are great, and I love that they automatically add suppression lists for every list your create!

Cons

There aren't quite as many bells as, say, Pardot. But for most businesses I think Mailchimp would work beautifully.

Good for Small or Start Up Companies

2018-04-10

Pros

It is a good starter platform for organizations that have basic needs. Easily integrates into Salesforce and with other platforms.

Cons

We recently outgrew Mailchimp and moved on to Pardot. It is great for smaller organizations but doesn't help with targeted marketing or to help an organization scale.

I'm going crazy over mailchimp

2018-04-23

Pros

Their templates designs can also be exported into softwares like Pardot, that does not have as many templates designs as MailChimp.

Cons

The free version only allows 2k subscribers, I wish there was more ability to collaborate as well. Overall, great product, not many cons to note.

Mailchimp mania

2019-01-08

It has helped me get small clients using email. That has helped them improve ROI on working with me.

Pros

I love using mailchimp to start email marketing for smb clients that have nothing happening on that front. It is the easiest and best way to get started in my opinion

Cons

Mailchimp is lacking in marketing automation features that I need for most of the roles I have worked in, so I use Pardot, Marketo, Hubspot for email marketing typically.

It's the best free email automation service for small businesses.

2017-11-14

Pros

The fact that it's free to start with is a major advantage. It's extremely user friendly and easy to understand if you're just starting a business. Having some sort of email automation tool is critical to reach potential customers and this provides an effective solution. After you're more established in the business, you can upgrade your account or move on to another email service.

Cons

It doesn't have all the advantages of a more advanced system like HubSpot or Pardot. Better systems allow you to track user activity on your website, view interactions, etc.

Mail chimp - A great way to get started with email marketing and basic automation

2016-12-05

For companies looking to move beyond basic batch and blast email marketing without the commitment and expenditure of more robust technology packages (Marketo, Hubspot, Pardot, etc), MailChimp is easy to use platform that gives you basic marketing automation functionality at a fraction of the price.

Pardot Review

2016-11-02

The one very nice thing is that a lot of the previous mailchimp templates I had customized imported seamlessly so that was pretty awesome.

Pros

I like the seamless integration of old Mailchimp templates.

Cons

The system is clunky and building out custom e-blast templates leaves a lot to be desired. Its actually pretty difficult to integrate some of the features to make your e-blasting more effective and there doesn't seem to be much as far as training to help with that.

Recommendations to others considering Pardot

I would definitely do a few trials on a lot of different systems and find the one that works best for you. If we were to do this one over, I am not sure we would have went with Pardot - seems to just be a bloated featureless, clunky system.

A Mixed Bag

2019-01-23

When I do that part, I miss MailChimp. But Pardot has way more options than MailChimp in many other areas.

Pros

The CRM functionality is really amazing. It's easy to assign Scores to leads and make and edit Dynamic Lists, which is at the heart of our sales plan.

Cons

The system for designing emails is archaic. Like, is someone filming me and laughing? Oh, you want to add a simple section at the bottom? It's easy. Just edit the... HTML code. I do not code and that is why I love drag and drop when I need to edit my email template.

Not Fully Integrated with Salesfoce

2019-03-29

Pros

It's easy enough to set up drip campaigns. I ended up using a third party provider for a CDN for my images.

Cons

I think overall I still prefer MailChimp, even if using Salesforce.

Allows use to Scale with Ease

2018-04-10

Pros

Pardot has a higher level of base functionality that encouraged us to move away from Mailchimp as we scaled.

Cons

The learning curve on Pardot has been steep, though this is a testament to how powerful the platform is.

Give it time and you will fall in love too.

2018-11-12

If you are ready to take your email marketing to the next level, Pardot is the way to do it. Be prepared to learn and be a tad frustrated at first, but once you get it going it is totally worth it.

Pros

Yes, it takes a good deal of practice to figure out what you have to do but once it clicks, it makes perfect sense. Mailchimp and Constant Contact will never be the same!

Cons

It has a pretty steep learning curve at the beginning. Some common terms (ex. campaign) have completely different meanings inside Pardot. It's not the prettiest tool in terms of UI/UX but it gets the job done.

Pardot could be better

2018-12-06

They offer little support. Their functionality and ease of use is challenging. You can find better CRM products for your marketing efforts, like Hubspot and Marketo.

Pros

The engagement studio feature makes it easy to build campaigns.

Cons

It's not like MailChimp.

Marketing Automation for price conscious organizations

2017-03-30

Pardot has a lot of base functionality that sets it apart from email platforms like Mailchimp and the like.

Pros

Intuitive UI, great functionality for the price, native integration with Salesforce, dynamic content add-on. Automation rules that can help keep the system clean and prospects updated.

Cons

Limitations within automation rules for mutli-variable updates. For example - Loading a tradeshow list with campaign member statuses in SFDC. I would like to upload in one automation rule to say if X campaign status, update to this campaign in SFDC for X status, within the same rule I would like to add all of the other statuses with specific completion actions instead of having to run 1 rule for each status. Dynamic content should be able to trigger via a URL parameter and not just a known prospect field.

Salesforce integration oversold, but excellent in its own right

2018-12-09

Pros

Pardot is one of the better marketing automation/nurturing product aimed at mid-sized businesses. It's greatest strength is its integration with Salesforce (which will be discussed more in "cons"). With relative simplicity, it can be connected to the CRM, so that contacts can easily sync two-ways, and even custom objects can be brought through for segmentation purposes with just a couple of clicks. Tracking and automation is very well thought out and easy to use. The product has a straightforward method of tracking campaign results and attribution, all of which can then be pushed into Salesforce for comprehensive reporting on prospect-to-purchase management and measurement. Pardot's greatest strength lies in its ease of use. No marketing automation software is going to be SIMPLE, but Pardot shines in the consistency between its many functions. Nothing feels tacked-on or different from other tools. If you can create a campaign, you can create a complex segmentation rule, and you can manage your social media posts, as it all works identically. The marketing automation function, Engagement Studio, has gone through substantial recent updates and I consider it best-in-class for ease of use and functionality. If true automation is your #1 concern, this is a great choice. Lastly, support is excellent. Salesforce Trailblazer is fantastic for self-guided-training, the documentation is up-to-date and accurate, and support tickets are answered promptly and knowledgeably. If you are experienced in systems of these sorts, you will quite likely not need to take advantage of any external training (or SF's accelerator options).

Cons

Its WYSIWYG email and landing page tools aren't responsive and are far outclassed in ease of use by Mailchimp and other lower cost options (although if you're comfortable with HTML and developing your own templates, it's not bad at all).
